Resign as in voluntarily quit, not re-sign.

I hate seeing "normal people" lose their jobs. I take no pleasure in the "elite" losing their jobs, mind you, but I feel far less bad for Drevno. The dude isn't going to be downtown AA off Liberty in that park across from Mani and Bar Louie begging for nickels anytime soon...

Are you referring to the "two quarters or 50 cents please" guy?

February 23rd, 2018 at 11:47 AM ^
He's a legend. Has been walking up and down Main and Liberty for years. All he will say is "excuse me, two quarters or 50 cents?" as he shakes his cup. He was there back when I was a student, and I saw him this fall still going strong.

Crutch is my favorite. The dude that walks around on one crutch and asks for money, that has lovingly become known (over the last 20 years) as just...Crutch...
EDIT: Apparently, we are talking about the same guy. I think after seeing him for so many years, my brain has shut down to what he actually says when I see gim...

Arthur. One crutch, known for his catchphrase, "50 shents or a dollar?"

I sell insurance currently and it is hard because everyone seems to think that we make a ton of money off of you when in reality we hardly make anything off of a standard homeowners and auto policy. Hopefully, if you have a good agent, they are taking the time to explain what you are purchasing, because before I got into insurance, I had no idea what I was and was not covered for.

And someone else always has to chime in with this ridiculously stupid point, that somehow someone's wealthy or stature at work insulates them from hurt.
By having a laptop and a computer, we're all pretty much guaranteed to be in the top 1% of the world, as I bet all of us make at least $35k a year.
So by this logic, none of us should bitch or expect any type of sympathy or support from anyone when something bad like this happens, because, hell, we have enough money.
And it's this logic that shrugs off the deaths of soldiers, cops, and at this rate, teachers because, "they knew going in that this could happen."
You suffered something bad in your life? <Shrug> You knew going in it was possible and you make enough money.
February 23rd, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
is a ridiculous take.
February 23rd, 2018 at 4:48 PM ^
Actually, it's not.
To argue that you don't feel for someone simply because they make more money than you and/or they knew going in that it was a possibility ignores the fact that over 99% of the rest of the world could look at you the same way.
And given the way the regulars bitch and moan on here as of late, it's a far cry from ridiculous.

Before tax made about 2.5 times what I do annually in ONE MONTH. I don't feel sorry for him at all. He underperformed and can kick rocks to his next highly paid job.

you make about $26666.6666666667 annually.
happy mgobirthday btw. maybe you can parlay that into a raise.

This is what Justice is reporting as likely. Personally I would hope we can get someone else, and keep Warinner as an analyst.

Solely so that we could have an additional hire to come in and be the OC, so that neither Pep nor McElwain nor Warinner have that duty.
February 23rd, 2018 at 11:25 AM ^
We need the best (Jerry, the best) OL coach we can possibly get that will likely stay more than a year. Warinner is likely that guy.
February 23rd, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
Our OL needs a LOT of work. I don't want our next OL coach to be the OC too.
Beyond that, not many OCs coach the OL. Most of the ones considered elite are QB coaches. Most of the mediocre ones are too.
Further, it was always clear that Warinner was hired to be Drevno's replacement on the OL. He didn't come here to be an analyst. The only question was when he would take over.
February 23rd, 2018 at 11:06 AM ^
Yes. He is considered one of the best OL coaches in the college game. OSU fans thought he was a great OL coach, but poor OC. I don't see Harbaugh bringing anyone else in.
February 23rd, 2018 at 11:15 AM ^
Anyone who saw OSU's Warriner's O-line beat Bama and manhandle Oregon in OSU's championship run should be hopeful that maybe, just maybe Michigan's can improve.
I could be confusing seasons, but is seemed like OSU's O-line wasn't that great to start that season but they made a huge transformation at the end of the year.

If we can get above average OL play, the season takes on a different outlook. Add one awesome QB and tough road games or no, this team can win a lot of games...

February 23rd, 2018 at 11:22 AM ^
Why wouldn't he bring anyone else in? There's now an open position on the staff, no use in letting it go unfilled?
February 23rd, 2018 at 11:28 AM ^
He might bring in another analyst, but if he promotes Warriner that would be 10 coaches.
February 23rd, 2018 at 11:47 AM ^
I would disagree there - Ed Warinner has a very impressive resume when it comes to building good offensive lines, so if that's what he was ultimately hired to do, if all these hires were a prelude to Drevno leaving somehow, then that's exactly where I would want Warinner.

Cool, now we can find out if Warinner can recruit at all. But Drevno wasn't impressive in his time here.

I'm unsure of how accurate Brandon Justice is, but there seems to be too much smoke for this not to happen. UMBig11, Webb, and now this.

Yes, and umbig11 has just said that the new staff roles apparently caused Drevno to want to resign. If that's the case, then good riddance. There obviously needed to be changes after last season and if he's not on board, then he can leave.
