Not talking about getting drafted. He is talking about success in the NFL.

"Absolutely no shot?" That's a bit much.
Most of the websites I have looked at peg Winovich around the 9th or 10th-best defensive end in the 2018 draft (though it's complicated by 3-4 vs. 4-3 ends, strongside vs. weakside, etc.).
In the 2017 draft, that would have put him in the third round.
Even if you think Winovich is significantly worse than that, it's a long way from third-round pick to undrafted.

If you're in the top 2 rounds, I'd say go but I doubt he's there quite yet. A great senior season like what Taco and Mo had could change that.

My guess is he wil return. He's a linebacker sized DE who is a good but not elite athlete. I think he is a mid-round pick right now for some 3-4 team that moves him to a rush OLB type spot. Another year of technique work and experience could move him higher.
As long as he doesn't wind up a Packer and second coming of Clay Matthews, it's all good.

I think we'll be waiting on this decision for a while.
Either way there are enough Pro's to either choice for him to make it so you have to be happy for the guy regardless. The program will be fine, if there's one thing we can all take heart in, it's development on the defensive line has generally been good and there are a LOT of bullets in the chamber.

I think he leaves. If he decides to come back, that will just be a bonus for next season.

Chase also expressed in the full interview how he was blown away at the Michigan community's response to his charity challenge. I kind of think this is factoring into a decision on if he stays or goes.
"I'm just shocked and kind of bewildered. I knew the Michigan community was strong and I knew people cared, but I just didn't know to that extent," Winovich said. "I'm just so happy. My heart's just filled with love to see people on Christmas Day donating thousands of dollars. "It was an awesome feeling."
He's seen the community give, and maybe he wants to give back a little too. While speculative, it will be cool if it happens.

He's about the same size as TJ Watt, but they play different positions.
At 6'3" 250 he's too small for a hand in the dirt NFL DE, but would fit a 3-4 OLB spot. Problem is no one has ever seen him play that before.
If he goes, great for him. If he stays, great for next year's defense.

Safe to say if he stays one more year and improves a ton, he easily nets 5 million over 5 years. That's a million more per year obviously. Not a terrible idea. Especially if your career doesn't last long in the league. Hell, a million dollars alone is more than enough for this kid to spend over the next 10 years if he's smart with his money. Throw 2 million in there? Go for the bigger contract Chase buddy!!

He might be a little small for a prototypical NFL DE, but his relentlessness is a wildcard. He and Devin Bush were my favorite players this year because they played pretty much every play with everything they had. I think Chase is going to be a better pro than a lot of people think, but I don't think it will be next year.

I think he should (and will) stay another year. He's a good player right now but he could use another year under Brown and Mattison to polish his skills a little. If he goes this year he will get drafted in the middle rounds. If he stays for another season I think he'll go in the first or high second round.
