that annoyed me. The worst thing is every so often he would denigrate the value of getting a degree, basically saying athletes should take the money as soon as they could, and how a degree wasn't necessary to make a lot of money in the "real world". Although he may have been technically correct, it's a bad message to broadcast all the way around. Most ex-athletes can't or won't have any opportunities to work in broadcasting, coaching, or other sports-related field after their playing days are over. And even if they did, a degree certainly will help I would think.
Aside from that, Ray didn't exactly further his career opportunities in the broadcasting area (IMO) during his stint at WTKA. Most of the time, he sounded bored, unmotivated, unprepared, and not wanting to be there. I doubt any networks executives looking for talent would be very impressed if they listened to his tapes.

I wonder what Charles Woodson thinks about this. For those who don't know, Marcus played with Charles Woodson.

That Marcus still talks to Charles?

Ha, he says Charles is his best friend but I've never seen/heard Charles say it in return.
Probably because he would be a terrible best friend to have.

He was always too negative about the team. He seemed to forgot that his teams was average before the championship.

Marcus is so annoying that he sometimes makes me wish that the '97 team had lost a couple of games.

are you saying Marcus Ray and Charles Woodson played on the same team? Huh.. thats crazy!

Careful now. That contrarian attitude is what pushed a Columbus kid to come play for Michigan!

was starting QB, wasn't he, with GOAT Brady as backup?
Marcus was award winning safety in 97, can't take that away.
Interestingly Brady was the DL coach of that squad... CFB has changed in the intervening 20 years but these guys got what they got.

He doesn't have to drag around M-Ray for several hours every day on-air and put up with his negativity. JMo isn't the best talk show host either, but at least he's positive much of the time and attempts to fill up the air with something of value.
