That’s Ways, Harris, & Canteen in the 2014 class. No production. Bummer.
November 29th, 2017 at 6:41 PM ^
Harris' career: 9 catches for 60 yards and 2 solo tackles.
Canteen: 6 catches for 22 yards and a TD
Ways: 8 catches for 71 yards
They could have packed their three career's worth of receiving yards into 1 whole game. I wonder who was responsible for Hoke's WR recruiting.

Lots of room opening up for grad tansfers and for expanding the new class!

That's true, but it's still sad we had to part ways with Moe...
November 29th, 2017 at 7:37 PM ^
There are Moe Ways than one for him to extend his football playing time.

than is advisable.

Al-ex pectations aside, this Speight of puns has me thinking of the Ways that we'D rake someone over the coals if he left early, and we needed him.
November 29th, 2017 at 6:31 PM ^
Speight to Harris and Ways would be stellar.

How about FAU with Lane Kiffin? He's got that program rolling. Not sure how long he stays though. I know a lot of people dislike him, but he is always trolling Saban (hysterically by the way), and is a really good interview. I think he has grown up quite a bit and I am now starting to like him.

for a big time program? i don't remember michigan (or any other school) having anywhere near this number of kids depart. maybe it's standard procedure and i've not paid enough attention.

please. i understand how/why its happening here and now, but i don't remember another school or our school ever going through this much attrition. can you cite me to other schools/years where this was 'normal', as one blogger asserted above.
November 29th, 2017 at 8:46 PM ^
Because neither you nor the media pays as much attention to anyone else.
Speight is not that big of a surprise. There's no way he's going to be the QB next year as mediocre (at best) he's been these past two years with two hot shot young Harbaugh recruits ready to go.

ok, this is off the top of my head so I may not be 100 accurate, and the farther back I go the less likely I am to be accurate, but i'm going to go through a few of our recruiting classes and list the number who didn't finish up elgibility. I won't count leaving early for pros against them.
2015: 5/14 didn't finish up their eligibility here so far
2014: 6/17
2013: 14/27
2012: 8/25
2011: 15/20
2010: 20/28
2009: 7/21
2008:11/24

wonder how many were grad transfers. its one thing if a guy gets hurt, can't cut it academically or gets in trouble, but it seems like we are having a slew of grad transfers.

not coming back considered attrition? Just because a player redshirts doesn't mean he's going to get a 5th year.

It's more so a changing of the guard. A lot of these are Hoke recruits that didn't pan out or were beaten by newer Harbaugh recruits. At this point, the writing is on the wall and they're either being given a firm handshake, or they're looking for greener pastures on their own. I'm really curious to see what happens with Lawrence Marshall and Ian Bunting because while they didn't play a ton, they are valuable depth/special team players.
November 29th, 2017 at 6:56 PM ^
I can't remember who, maybe it was UMBIG11, didn't he say Lawrence Marshall is returning?
November 29th, 2017 at 6:59 PM ^
yeah, it was. Mone and Marshall returning, but I think also mentioned Bunting likely leaving.
November 29th, 2017 at 7:02 PM ^
Just for depth reason I think it is good that those two are returning. Bunting is in the same situation as Harris and Ways. Mckeon and Gentry have already passed him on the depth chart, which puts him #4 behind those two and TJ Wheatley.
November 29th, 2017 at 7:11 PM ^
I thought he'd be the heir apparent to Jake Butt but he was hard to find on the field this year.
November 29th, 2017 at 7:53 PM ^
November 29th, 2017 at 8:18 PM ^
I don't think McKeon + Gentry was a big downgrade from Butt. The problem was mostly at the QB position this year.
November 29th, 2017 at 7:55 PM ^
I think the catching part is equal among the 4 TE's, but Bunting's blocking is probably well below the standard set by the other three.

Marshall finally got soem snaps this year and wasn't bad. Not surprised he's staying.

November 30th, 2017 at 12:38 AM ^
Harbaugh isn't going to keep 'his' recruits around for a 5th yr if they haven't 'earned' it. Maybe it won't be as much, but I think we're still going to see players getting a firm handshake after their 4th yr.
November 29th, 2017 at 7:12 PM ^
November 30th, 2017 at 6:42 AM ^

November 30th, 2017 at 7:20 AM ^
QB still not out of the question.
November 30th, 2017 at 8:11 AM ^
be interested in those OL recruits, seems like they don't work out because they couldn't crack it at their first school. However, if they are from Bama, Clemson, or Georgia....this could work out nicely for us! Are the coaches also that unhappy with the safety play or is it just a depth concern?
November 30th, 2017 at 8:40 AM ^
As for the safety play, they need depth and playmakers. Woods will take a spot next year and start. He may start in the bowl game. He was hampered by an injury mid season that slowed him down a little.
