Borges was gone even before he was recruited..

Sorry, reflexive event.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:03 PM ^
I suspect he will go someplace where he can benefit from the 2 years of grad school. Someplace like Duke or Vandy or Cal.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:47 PM ^
what makes you think any of those schools would offer him a football scholarship?
If Malzone wants to continue playing football with a legit shot at seeing the field, he will probably need to look at schools outside of the power conferences.
November 29th, 2017 at 3:58 PM ^
My point is that I think while he would love to play in the NFL he is also planning for a future outside of professional football. I think that his experience and skills qualify him to play at some of the better academic institutions that don't excel at football - like Cal or Duke or Vanderbilt. If he isn't good enough to play there then he isn't good enough to play in the NFL. I expect he will be looking for a good academic school where he can play immediately. I don't know the specific roster situation at those schools so I threw them out as examples. It may be that a school discovers in March that they need a QB who can start in September due to an off-season injury. Substitute Rice for the schools I named if you prefer that level of football as a destination for him.
November 29th, 2017 at 5:50 PM ^
Without knowledge of any details, I thought of Rice as a destination, too.
To your point, if he's thinking about life after football, it's hard to imagine a MAC school being an appealing destination. Morris and Shallman were apparently football-focused, so CMU and Ohio made sense for them.

+1 Insightful.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:40 PM ^
I "misremembered" and thought he was pretty highly recruited.
I was wrong.
According to Rivals, his only other Power 5 offers were Pitt and Wake Forest.
November 29th, 2017 at 3:09 PM ^
Not really any different than 5 star RB Dennis Green.
The shocking thing for me though is the depth chart is a competition and O'korn beat all these QBs out?!?!?!?!
November 29th, 2017 at 12:50 PM ^
con Dios, Alex. May success follow him wherever he goes.
November 29th, 2017 at 12:50 PM ^
This prompted me to just skim Malzone's Hello and Recruiting posts. Reading those and seeing what the QB position was projecting to look like vs. how it actually has shaken out...Michigan's QB situation the past few years has been weird, to say the least.
November 29th, 2017 at 7:03 PM ^
and honestly, everytime i go back and read a kid's hello post after they quit/leave early/have a career-ending-injury . . . i just get depressed. All that promise and then . . .
Sounds like he's leaving healthy, and on his own terms (more or less) so that's about the best circumstances.
I guess I just never like attrition.
November 29th, 2017 at 12:53 PM ^
Wish him luck. Always felt like a bit of a reach, though he was a top-300 recruit and a solid pro-style QB. Awesome of him to graduate early, and hopefully he'll get a shot to play somewhere else.

Oh nevermind.
Hey, will the last guy at Schembechler hall please make sure the blocking sleds are pulled in and put away?
Thanks.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:09 PM ^
No one ever transferred from Michigan before. Certainly not under that noted players' coach, Bo Schembechler.

November 30th, 2017 at 12:39 AM ^
In the 70s and 80s you competed for starting positions and if you lost, you sat on the bench until or if you were ever needed.
November 29th, 2017 at 4:59 PM ^
What about the dong forest? The dong forest certainly needs to be stowed properly before the last player leaves.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:08 PM ^
I met Alex once (good kid) but he was way undersized in today's modern era of major P5 pocket QBs. Speight and Peters have the ideal combination of height and strength. McCaffrey only needs to get thicker in the strength program, although UMBig reported he is up to 199lbs (from 175) ... DM getting to 225lbs will take another year or so. Milton will develop to the right size as well after a rs year. I think our QB group is really ascending and will become what JH needs. Critical issue is OL going forward, as we need some of those highly-rated rs frosh to start acsending in 2018.
Alex is a smart guy and will do well in life. UM degree in 3.5 years is impressive plus 2 years to be a starter - he just needs to find the right situation where he can start and achieve his master degree goals. Good luck to him!

Has there been any news about the duration or severity of Peters's symptoms? Because, I feel like not getting cleared in time to play the following Saturday doesn't seem like an excessively long duration.

He was in a class with my kid freshman year, who is now a junior....so Malzone is graduating early. In answer to my question what was Malzone like in class?
Nice guy. Smart, motivated, acquitted himself "like a leader."
November 29th, 2017 at 2:57 PM ^
Sure, I know he would have liked to play, but he has his degree, can get some good time someplace else, and now is part of a long, great tradition. Good for him.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:31 PM ^
Alex, Good kid. M grad.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:33 PM ^
He's already been redshirted, so it's not like he'd lose any eligibility. Let him take the first snap and throw a screen pass and put Peters back in the game. It would seem like a nice gesture on Harbaugh's behalf.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:57 PM ^
let him take a snap and throw a deep post to DPJ - sheesh its only South Carolina...
November 29th, 2017 at 1:51 PM ^
I had hoped he was the second coming of Brian Griese, an accurate thrower who could manage a game. We only saw him a bit in the spring game with Shane Morris before Rudock came on board.
Sorry to see him go, but if he can get playing time more power to him.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:42 PM ^
that was a HUGE Malzone cheerleader a while back? I can't remember his username, long since caved I assume, but he was certain Malzone was the next Tom Brady. Except faster and with a stronger arm.
He was like Malzone's overly attached girlfriend. Both funny and creepy at the same time.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:49 PM ^
thought Malzone was Tom Brady except faster and with a stronger arm, the poster was probably Fred Jackson.

Informative, but nice potshot at the coaching staff. Looks like no matter how much information we receive, some people still pretend nobody on the staff knows what they're doing.
