In their (our) defense, it was at one point called Meijer's Thrifty Acre
It was Meijer Thrifty Acres. It never had an apostrophe.
November 29th, 2017 at 3:01 PM ^
Should have been Meijer's Thrifty Acres tho.

That is where Fred started his store. I didn't even know about Meijer until they built one in Brighton in the early 80s. When did they move into metro Detroit? I liked them better than A&P, and A&P closed most of their stores after that. Do they still have Farmer Jacks in the metro?
November 30th, 2017 at 8:41 AM ^
Nope.
Greenville was the first store opened in 1934.
Then Cedar Springs in 1941.
The first store in GR didn't open until 1949. I believe it was the 4th store.

I didn't think there was an apostrophe in Krogers or Meijers... Have I've been saying it wrong this whole time??? yikes.

BlueMar's please explain the issue. I am not good at geometry, english isnt my first language

His name is Peters. Apostrophes are for contractions with is or for forming possesives. Peters plays football. That's Peters' football.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:14 PM ^
Whoosh
November 29th, 2017 at 3:01 PM ^
The possessive form of his name is Peters's. The final "s" is only properly omitted when (i) the possessive applies to a plural subject ("the freemasons' argument ...") or (ii) if it is a universally-known proper name with no chance for confusion ("Denis Johnson's book Jesus' Son was among his best").
This b.s. with people putting the apostrophe at the end of a singular name like "Peters" is a relic of old newspaper style guides.

No, it's a stylistic choice, like many things with American English Usage, and there is not a correct answer. Regardless, within this blog Peters is akin to Jesus. DOUBLE INVALIDATION.
Edit: To add on, how would you say it verbally?
November 29th, 2017 at 4:30 PM ^
How would I say it verbally? With words. That's how I do everything verbally.
(The more precise question would be "how would you say it orally?" to which I'd respond "using spoken words".)

November 29th, 2017 at 4:59 PM ^
And you would sidestep the question either way while once again being pedantically incorrect in your certainty, i.e., that verbal isn't an accepted synonym for oral. Keep digging.
November 29th, 2017 at 5:53 PM ^
My whole point was that "verbal" is not the same as "oral". (That's what "more precise" was getting at.) Yet you accuse me of conflating the two!
Keep missing the point!

Technically Meijer does own the store.

that's how adding the S originated. You worked at Ford's, shopped at Meijer's, etc.

makes sense to me. It's the store that belongs to Mr. Meijer = Meijer's

Hoke didn't do much right with X's and O's, but he said that he always thought Fr should be able to play in a bowl game without losing their redshirt. Might be a good place for McCaffrey to get some live snaps.
November 29th, 2017 at 12:58 PM ^
Except he would lose his redshirt if he took those snaps, so . . . no.
November 29th, 2017 at 1:36 PM ^
I cant see any circumstance where playing McCaffrey in the bowl makes sense. Even if you have to go to the wildcat, Gentry, etc.
November 29th, 2017 at 6:45 PM ^
If this were the playoff and Michigan had a chance to win the national title, I could see burning a redshirt in the worst emergency situation. But there is literally no scenario in which it would make sense to burn a redshirt for a mid-tier bowl game. They would direct snap to Khalid Hill every play and run him up the middle before putting McCaffrey in.

Does he get a letterman's jacket? Or does he have to have played in a game for that?

He played against Minnesota this year.

Malzone is still on the team. He isn't leaving the program until after the spring per the announcement on his Instagram.

November 30th, 2017 at 1:05 AM ^
Peters will 100% play, but it will be a defining game for him moving foward; I will be acutely observing his demenor, cadence, and poise in his return. I have to admit, I'm very nervous about his mental state/toughness following the wisconsin games and the hits he took, and how he looked afterward. I have to admit, i'm a little excited to see McCaffrey, Petters, and Milton in the sping.

I thought Peters was out for the OSU game because of concussion protocol, if he still out with concussion symptoms after a month, I'd think he might want to hang up the pads.
Peters to start, O'Korn to backup and walk on as third string.

I think it is fairly likely Peters is a go for the bowl. It will be over a month of recovery.
November 29th, 2017 at 12:52 PM ^
I would be shocked to not see him starting the bowl game. Kid is a gamer and as you said he will have had more than a month to recover from the concussion.
November 29th, 2017 at 12:49 PM ^
Best of luck, buddy. Never worked out here but I'm sure it was in no way due to a lack of effort.
Hope you can go somewhere where you can start and continue a good education.

Pretty strange to see a 4 star QB not ever take a significant snap but the Hoke-Borges School of Quarterbacking doesnt put you in a great position. Would love to see what he can do in the MAC next year
November 29th, 2017 at 12:57 PM ^
While recruited by Hoke, Malzone was wholly under the tutelage of Harbaugh and his staff. Malzone just concluded his redshirt sophomore year.
It seems that the tools were more lacking than the instruction. Wish him well, and hope he finds a fit that allows him to succeed.
