Well, now that thread got nuked.
My response, in a nutshell: Dobbs can bend and can run. It's all about potential. You can teach him technique and put weight on him.

I saw Dobbs at the Big House vs. Brighton and tried to focus on him only. Didn't really see what was special about him and it's not like it was one of Belleville's blowouts where he might have gone on cruise control. But, hey...what do I know.

...moving Ty Wheatley Jr. to OT. He's a TE, so he's got to be athletic. As a freshman, he came in at 6'6" and 290 lbs., so he can I'm thinking he can carry the weight needed at OT. He's not playing that much at TE, so we're not taking away from that position. And maybe his best bet of playing in the NFL is as a tackle. If blocking is the problem, could he get better fast enough for both his and the team's benefit?

I don't think he would be amenable to that, and he's been moving in the opposite direction. He would have to pack on weight at this point, since he's no longer anywhere close to 290, and he's not at the level of blocking where he needs to be. I think he's closer to being a DE than an OT.

How the fuck is he still eligible?

He will be one of the best guards in the country wherever he goes. He'd still be a good tackle.

Saw EMU's last game of the season last night, and guess who made his first ever start at EMU? Former Wolverine and 4-star recruit Dan Samuelson.
As far as I could tell, he only played the first series or so (I assume he started b/c it was senior day), and then occasionally went in for backup duty, as he apparently has all season.
It's weird that a 4-star recruit barely could make the field, in his 5th (or 6th?) year at 5-7 EMU, but shows how difficult identification of tops recruits is.

You are correct. He was a 3 star recruit, not a 4 star. I remember it well because he's the one who beat Ethan Pocic into the class and he ended up being All-SEC at LSU.

I saw him out there Monday night against the Falcons and thought...hmm...it would have been nice to have him in on our team.

I didn't look up his rank. I probably was thinking of Dan O'Neal, who went to WMU.
In any case, hopefully we keep the MAC-level OL recruits at a minimum at Michigan in the future.

I guess I’m not sure why that extra inch makes somebody a tackle or a guard...

I didn't say it can't happen, but Leno is an exception, not the rule.
