Fuck them. They are not good. They are going to face the best defense on their schedule. I am not worried one bit.

They are going to face the best defense in the country!. If Michigan gets it's offense on track, I look for them to roll in this one. State will do nothing on offense and Michigan will reek havoc upon them all day!!!. Look for DPJ to do some damage in this one and Michigan wins big.

If not, it will be a battle. This is Sparty's Super Bowl.

The B1G West bears a strong resemblance to the SEC West.

That offense is trash. They're aren't going to score in the 2nd half against a team that gave up 41 to Iowa State.

The only way MSU wins this game is the way OSU won it last year: horrible QB play handing them 21 points.
September 30th, 2017 at 9:55 PM ^
you'll have to add blind refs that give favorable spots
September 30th, 2017 at 10:30 PM ^
I know it's easy to pile on Speight right now, but I wouldn't say he played "horribly" last year. For most of the game he played pretty well; he just had a couple of very untimely turnovers (the first more on the pass protection).

Did they even score after the first quarter?

Whether Lewerke will be able to finish the game out after taking a double digit sack count.

double post..... answer is no
September 30th, 2017 at 7:43 PM ^
is bad. Iowa is worse.
Can't wait for Mr. Lewerke to meet his new backfield mates next week: Hurst, Gary, Winovich, and of course, Mr. Bush...

Why not? You think PSU has played against a defense, yet? They use Barkley on 80% of thier plays. He won't be nearly as effective against a defense that is designed by a defensive genius specifically to stop spread offenses - especially when that defense has athletes at key positions that are as good/athletic as Barkley is. Thier offense is one-dimensional, stop Barkley (or, at least, slow him down), and you stop them. There is nothing else about thier offense that worries me. The game rests on our offense vs thier defense.
And I'll take Jim Harbaugh over whatever they trot out as the DC...

Didn't you call for a purdue upset last week?

MSU is completely one-dimensional on offense. The key is to make sure Lewerke does not escape the pocket. If we can limit Brian Lewerke's long runs, I am not concerned about MSU's offense. MSU's secondary is quite vulnerable to tight-ends. I expect us to use Gentry and McKeon on crossing routes as well as using Grant Perry in the slot. The key is to avoid the big mistake on offense and that means no turnovers by O'Korn.

They are quite vulnerable to really any deep or vertical passing game.

Whereas Dantonio ranks somewhere below Harbaugh, he also made it abundantly clear that his talents were far superior to those of Hoke and Rodriguez. I find it hard to believe I had to type that.
September 30th, 2017 at 9:20 PM ^
Dantonio has made a habit of spending a whole year getting ready for this game and winning it.

He has "won" because his teams have been better the years he won, outside of maybe 2015. His team is not too good, MSU won't win.
