Michigan Monday is up

There was a massive uptick in disrespekt over the past few years with this feature. It was really snarky and dismissive. I'm happy to see that has faded. Good article by Gerd.

He’s like an evil scientist [...] I bet if they patched into his headset, he’s probably singing Sweet Caroline at the top of his lungs during plays as well.

All this disrespekt you refer to, was merited.... this writer seems quite unbiased and says how it is, and it is appreciated, and I enjoy reading his words. For an OSU slappy to be straight on things, has to be very hard, and Gerdeman seems to always be spot-on.

I hate to say it but I really like the way he writes it up. If I read that without any context I would think it was written by a slightly-jaded Michigan fan.
September 13th, 2017 at 6:42 PM ^
He is an unbiased view and writes in that unique style which is very entertaining. I look forward to this after every game.

He's also more positive about Michigan than a lot of the people posting on this blog.

For a second there I was like "OH SHIT HOW IS IT ONLY MONDAY?" But then I came back to reality and had a very similar sentiment about it being only Wednesday.

Job? What is this job thing you speak of?
Signed, annoying old fart retiree.

I live in Jacksonville, FL and it really is Monday for us. The office has been closed since Friday due to Hurricane Irma. This is our first day back to work this week.....otherwise known as "Monday".

Hope you and your fam are ok. I live in Tampa - went up to Athen, GA but got back Monday.

His description of Don Brown as an evil scientist is hilarious.....

the line about Mattison looking at Don Brown thinking "forget the curve ball, Ricky. Give him the heater."....that was awesome!
September 13th, 2017 at 1:25 PM ^
That alone is worth the reading the article. What a great video clip.
September 13th, 2017 at 1:35 PM ^
Then I played the video and laughed out loud at Mattison's nod of approval.
September 13th, 2017 at 2:03 PM ^
what a great privilege it's been to have Mattison - a guy capable of being a DC in the NFL - be content to be a D-line coach here in Ann Arbor. The D-lines have been excellent since RVB and Mike Martin were wrecking people on 3rd and 1. He doesn't get enough praise I think - I honestly forget he's here a lot because we focus so much on Don Brown

That video clip was one of my favorite parts of this Michigan Monday. Classic.

“ "Forget about the curveball, Ricky. Give him the heater.” And then Brown calls the play and Mattison happily nods at the carnage that is about to take place."
I take note of saying Isaac isn't capable of top end speed, but likening him to a triples hitter, which, uh, requires speed (unless we're talking about Castellanos in CoPa, then carry on sir).

He has the speed to take it the distance if you take a bad angle, but he doesn't have the speed to beat a player taking a good angle.

September 14th, 2017 at 10:41 AM ^
Oh heck yeah! I wasn't saying that as a knock on Isaac. That is more than enough speed out of a college RB, imo.
September 13th, 2017 at 2:04 PM ^
Yes, speed is required for a triples hitter. Gerd's point wasn't that, his point was that Isaac is not a home run hitter, but that on a long run he could theoretically get you 3/4 of the way toward the end zone.
September 13th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
That we're going to beat the piss out of OSU this year. I expect him to be talking us up after every game until November.
September 13th, 2017 at 1:25 PM ^
Good read. It's weird to see expert analysis that doesn't entirely trash the status of our program (or quarterback) after one game, like our own fanbase does. It's mind-blowing that it comes from a Buckeye...
September 13th, 2017 at 1:28 PM ^
during our long walk in the desert. He respects the rivalry and wanted us to get our shit together (like Spielman). He'd love it if we were 11-1 every year.
September 13th, 2017 at 1:41 PM ^
He seems like a good guy. I'd like to drink with him at a bar one night, get along great, then stiff him with a $700 tab because I insisted we get bottle service...

Did he shit gold?
September 13th, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
I don't know. I haven't had a beer in 5 days. I don't know anything anymore.
September 13th, 2017 at 1:31 PM ^
at least to me: "For some offenses, attacking Don Brown’s defense with screens is the best plan of attack. It’s almost like attacking a maniacal stabber by maniacally stabbing right back at him. It could be something to watch this season."
September 13th, 2017 at 1:48 PM ^
It's nice to read OSU material about Michigan that doesn't involve every other word being scUM.
September 13th, 2017 at 2:08 PM ^
Personally TSUN > Walvies > scUM.
TSUN is exclusively OSU and isnt bothersome to me. In fact it's kind of endearing.
Walvies is exclusively MSU and makes me laugh cause it's a silly insult if you really think about it. They are basically acknowledging that their school doesnt get support from anybody but alumni while people with no official connection to either school choose Michigan.
scUM is exclusively used by the huge pool of intellectual bottom feeders from both schools. At least here in Ohio it's usually used by that large segment of the population that sport Buckeye tats everywhere but couldnt find Columbus on a map, much less attended classes there.

However my favorite is Meatchicken.
I fund the whole not using the letter "M" thing to be kinda dumb though.

There wasn’t much pretty about this, unless you’re into inaccurate quarterbacks, heavy punting, and third down failures. If that’s you’re thing, then you’ve come to the right website because I write about two of those kinds of teams!
One of the things that I do like about Gerdeman is that he is a bit self-deprecating about the Buckeyes when they too are doing things that look a little, well, rough around the edges on the field.
