Except OSU lost to VT in week 2 of 2014, then won the rest of their games and made the playoffs..

If OSU goes undefeated the rest of the way that means they're playing for the B1G Championship. Win that and they are definitely in the playoffs. What was your point?

The 2020 & 2021 schedules are awfully favorable for OSU. One quirk I noticed: OSU is the recipient of a lot of body blow games (game following another marquee matchup), and no opponent has a bye week prior to facing OSU. Many of these are opponents having to face PSU and then OSU in back-to-back weeks.
2020: Indiana (MSU, PSU, @OSU); Maryland (@Michigan, OSU, @PSU); MSU (@Iowa, Michigan, OSU); PSU (@Michigan, BYE, Iowa, OSU); Iowa (MSU, @OSU, @PSU)
2021: Indiana (@PSU, OSU, @MSU); Maryland (PSU, @OSU, Michigan); MSU (@Michigan, PSU, @OSU); PSU (@Maryland, Michigan, @OSU); Nebraska (@MSU, OSU)
No team has a bye prior to OSU in 2020 or 2021. Rutgers has a bye prior to Michigan in 2020, and MSU & Nebraska have byes prior to Michigan in 2021.
Illinois & Maryland are the most frequent opponents in the week prior to facing Michigan. 3 teams in 2020 face Illinois in the week prior to Michigan (Indiana, OSU, and Purdue).
