I wonder what the idiots who have already burned their Thomas jerseys are going to do...

Reason Isaiah Thomas failed his physical: He's actually 56 years old.

I'm sure HE thinks so.

If true itll be hella awkward for the fans who burned his jersey

I hope so. IT the second belongs in Boston. The real IT showed out in Detroit of course.

Cavs will ask for Jason Taytum. Doubt they get him but now they have all the leverage.
August 26th, 2017 at 7:52 AM ^
They were already giving up a lot. Adding Tatum would be insane. Thomas' injury was already known. I think it's llikely the Cavs will go through with the trade.
August 26th, 2017 at 8:07 AM ^
Cleveland doesn't have all the leverage. Kyrie wants out now, and this is probably the best deal they are going to get even if Thomas is hurt. Crowder's cap-friendly deal and the Nets' 2018 1st round pick is already better than what the Bulls got for Butler and the Pacers got for Paul George. Kyrie is under control for 2 more years unlike Butler and George, but I can't see another team beating that deal. If they wait until the trade deadline or next summer, they are going to find themselves in the same place the Bulls and Pacers were last month.
Maybe they can extract a low protected 1st round pick out of it, but they aren't getting Tatum.

Cavs have leverage because can Boston really let Kyrie go? I don't see Tatum or a town being added, but a few first rounders could be had or maybe Smart and a few and Cavs add Shump

Boston is the only team that can give IT a super-max contract, I think it is very likely he stays if they offer that.

As I understand the rules, he's not eligible for a supermax contract. One of the conditions is that a player has to be with his original team, or had come to his current team while on his rookie contract. He was already on his second deal when Boston traded for him.

It depends on how bad that hip is. At 5'9 if he loses his quickness, you can easily find better trade options than a slowed 5'9 shooter, Jae crowder and an unknown player... (Do you trust a Cleveland team to pick a winner with a top 5 pick?)

Dion waiters , Tristan Thompson, that's doing well? I guess that's a lot better than Anthony Bennett for sure

They get IT4 who can at least help them out immediately. If Lebron leaves, they don't have to resign IT4 and will have a lot of money to spend. The Cavs will also have an assumed top 5 pick in next years draft where they can draft someone to build around. Given what the Bulls got for Butler and what the Pacers got for PG13, the deal the Cavs got is a lot better than either of those.

Play money in the NBA anyway.

Aren't going to void this trade. It's about as good of a trade as they are going to get for Kyrie. I'd imagine they are using the not great physical IT had to try to leverage the Celtics into giving them another pick. It might actually work too. Either way, Brooklyn's pick and Crowder's cap friendly deal are too good to pass up, even if it's for one year of partially hurt IT.
