I'll believe it when I see it.
Site redesign? At this point, I'll be happy if I can just get my HTTV some day.

I think I'll end up getting mine after the season.
maybe.

saw this GIF halfway through and was convinced he was beating it off.
MGOBLOG'S date is ALWAYS Kate Upton.

No more Kate Upton's here. Nope. Not on this site. She scared away the ladies.
Or more ladies appeared on the site once Kate left. Something something.

WHAT?!?!
"and we should have a version we can play with early next week"
will this be public facing, or will you be testing it internally?
ps - Once things stabilize, having a 'grand rounds' post on everything that needed to happen to make the transition possible would be a fascinating read.
Thinking we'll start with just the site personnel and then invite like the top 30 points totals to beta it.
Test done.
This post was totally necessary.

I would love to help as well, except I really just want to see how many GIFs and how many simulated postgame threads before the site crashes in the new format. We may need someone to post "Hello" posts for an hour straight as well to see how that affects performance.

Just curious what goes into that. I would suspect/hope for:
- Load testing until you discover how many simultaneous visits is too many - for knowing ahead of time when the servers have to scale, instead of discovering it during the Ohio State liveblog while tied at 24 in the 4th quarter.
- Static page posting to lighten server load during the next ITS HAPPENING reload frenzy
- Cross-Site posting (what happens if you post to the site from a url that didn't start at the site) as happens in attacks.
- Cross-Site/injection scripting (i.e. don't let users post javascript include urls as content, object tags, sql injection, etc) on every form
- Progressive testing (what happens with images turned off? JS? Cookies? Adblock? Mobile/Android's "Convert to mobile"?).
- Spidering - load testing tends to hit a defined set of urls a lot. Spidering hits every discoverable url and can find poor-performing backwaters that negatively affect the whole site's performance when being used
- DDOS prevention - does it work? Is IP banning present/working/easily managed?
You don't have to share. I haven't done this in a while but these are basic things, hopefully already covered.
Thanks for the update
That's developer testing. We're going to do things like post a podcast, use livewriter to update a post on the fly, insert a liveblog, embed tweets, give and take away points, that sort of thing.

So next year then?
I don't care either way, honestly. Doesn't bother me at all, except when the site breaks... which happens.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:47 AM ^
I have a couple of kids that are great at breaking stuff and are able to expose any vulnerabilities in short order.
August 4th, 2017 at 12:57 PM ^
So close to the season? What if it breaks?
It already happened. We're an Ann Arbor politico blog now. You missed it.

Maybe fuck yourself.
I'll save a lot of time for people:
"Don't read the blog if you don't want to. Its free"
"I will contribute to a kickstarter to update the website"
"A bunch of drupal jokes"
Brian: "We are working on it. We like the guys we are with now"
"Brian makes money off the blog. He needs to update"
*Some WD bashing probably*
*Update on unique users to the blog*
^Rinse and repeat the above in various forms for about 275 comments.
Thanks! That actually did save me time.
I'm gunna need you to go ahead and make a TL;DR comment on all the board posts that I click from now on.
Thanks!

You forgot the step where the main page is telling us all how to setup our new Drupal site for the 1000th time.
You forgot to bitch about offering 3-stars.
...that's so yesterday.

That's some serious thread jackage, right there! Why not just create your own OT thread requesting ideas or help? I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies...
