OT - NHL Free Agency Opening Day
If NBA Christmas gets a thread, NHL Christmas gets a thread.
Holland gonna Holland....

Unfortunately, it seems that FA's are often overpaid. It upsets the salary cap.
3 yrs, $9.5M
Time in awhile that I think Holland made a good move.
I am a big fan of Daley.
Alzner to Montreal
Sharp to Chicago
Steve Mason to Winnipeg
Hanzal to Dallas
J Williams back to Carolina
CAMMALERI to LA
Bernier to Colorado
Girardi to Tampa
Brian Boyle to NJD
HUNWICK to Pitt
Bonnino to Nashville
Hainsey to Leafs
Shattenkirk to Rangers
Good term for Daley
As a Rangers fan, I love the Shattenkirk deal. Cap number is good for a top pair, number of years perfect at 28. Left money on the table, lots of it, to fulfill a life long fantasy. Win-Win!
At this point I'm ready to offer Jager some kind of deal. The guy is ageless.
Along with a good contract I also threw in an extra "e" for his last name.
Most of what I'm reading projects Daley as a good move, though I'm not seeing a lot of love for Witkowski.
I'm pretty ok with it overall. The Wings didn't go overboard with the Daley contract, and Witkowski is not costing them a lot of money, whether he works out or not. Sounds like also left room to sign Tatar, Athanasiou, and Ouellet.
Can't complain - I'm most happy the moves aren't a long term burden for the team, while potentially providing some short term benefit.
