Stokes Injured
I noticed in the latest post from Spring Practice up on Rivals that Je'Ron Stokes wasn't anywhere to be seen at practice yesterday.
I saw Je'Ron outside of South Quad on Wednesday evening sporting a hard, walking cast/boot thing on I believe his left foot. He was limping pretty obviously.
No idea how bad the injury is, but given some of the concern about outside receivers it isn't good news. Hopefully nothing major.
UPDATE - Chenglis confirms on Twitter it's an ankle, no mention of severity. (Vlad knee sprain too )
I always love these on-campus MGoStalker posts. Anyone remember the fiasco it was when the Michigan Daily reported Daniel Horton walking around campus with crutches circa 2005?
I'm not sure how seeing someone on campus is stalking them.
Yes, not stalking, but still quite interesting in this day in age when a kid takes a stroll outside his dorm or walks to class and his injury situation is posted online soon after. Series of tubes FTW.
Posting about a potential injury is not the same as posting, "OMG I went to the bathroom and TAE ODOMS was there brushing his teeth!"
Posts like this one are much appreciated and almost always legit when coming from reputable MGoBloggers. I think similar information surfaced about Tate's arm being in a sling after the Indiana game.
(1) Who is "Tae" Odoms?
(2) Bake me some cookies.
Tae-Kwan Dodoms.
Your post will go under-appreciated. +1
Perhaps I missed something, but I was under the impression that 'Tae' was an MGoAbbreviation for Odoms. I know I've seen it used regularly around here. I doubt you're just clueless, so the sarcasm seems confusingly misplaced. Maybe I just missed something.
I usually see it as "Tay" but that's really just splitting hairs, I suppose.
Fair enough.
Wait, what?

The defender put him mask in between Tae-Kwon-Dodoms fingers.
I love the new nickname.

(1) did a little stalking of my own (facebook), and his name is Tae Odoms on there
(2) maybe i will
Where did I say I didn't appreciate it?
So quick to the MGoNegbang...
I can't edit my post because people responded to it, but to clarify, I meant that information surfaced in a similar fashion, not that "similar information surfaced".
I saw Tate Forcier last night at the Joe. He was wearing a Cal t-shirt.
So you're saying he's transferring?!?!?!
Lack of Family Values?!?!?!
TOB you can't post jokes like that on Mgoblog boards. People will take it Mgoseriously
The legend was there too, though I didn't have enough time to ask for some rhymes
That's the new Nike PUP high-top.
Kicks for those who can't.
EDIT: Youtube clip fail. Instead, I offer you this picture of pancake bunny.
Pancakes are not pancakes without syrup.
Find THAT picture, and we have a deal.
your syrup will be ready in a few minutes.
Good info. Hopefully he'll be back soon.
but even if he's 100% by fall, young guys can always benefit from some solid reps in spring practice. I, for one, was excited to see Je'Ron in the spring game.
Benevolent 2010 Michigan Tolerating God, let it be minor...
Is he injured or not? And...is it really necessary to attack a poster before we know all the facts? It's not that I care; I'm just new, and need to know the rules...
Wow. You ARE new here...
Regardless, welcome to the board.
as long as it is a bone, not a ligament, hopefully he'll be good to go by august.
Or the much better option of a sprain and the boot being precautionary.
of Je'Ron just messing with bloggers.
Blog Jester.
For his final tricky act, he will convince all of the trolls to dress up like orangutans, and then hang them from the ceiling and burn them alive.
not generally used for ligament issues...
the walking boots are used for the Achilles (I know, a tendon and not a ligament. Also not a bone.)
I use them more for snow issues...
Of course it sucks hearing about any Wolverine getting injured, but at least we are stacked at WR; we should be ok regardless of the severity of the injury.
Stacked?
We have Daryll Stonum. Junior Hemingway is hurt, now Stokes is hurt, and we have three true freshmen. Thank god they're here for spring ball; before we needed at least 1 or 2 to step up, now they all really need to this spring.
I had heard that Roundtree was moving from the slot. With him, Stonum and a healing Hemingway, I think the receiver position is one of the least of our problems. If this were a Forcier, RVB, Woolfolk, or Molk (although he's not playing yet, I know) injury I'd be pretty nervous.
Roundtree is working at both the slot and the outside position. Still, I'm not sold on it. We have no real viable deep-threat step up last year (Hemingway was for about a game, then was injured) and Stonum only showed flashes at times. We need a player like Stokes or hopefully Robinson/Miller/Jackson to step up and give our offense a vertical threat. Otherwise 2010 will become a repeat of 2009.
Only one of those guys you mentioned have the speed to stretch a defense (Robinson). Jackson and Miller both look more like the possession type WR's more so than burners.
With Stokes out and Hemingway up to like 227 we aren't really deep with speed at the WR position. Stonum did show some sparks at times last year but his route running was not very good many times. If he improves in that area he could be great with his speed though.
Lets just hope Stokes is good to go soon, and the fact that he is wearing a boot eliminates the possibility of ligament issues. If it is a break or sprain he should have no trouble being ready by fall unless he suffers a serious setback for some reason.
What about Williamson? Isn't he supposed to have the speed for deep routes?
Last night at a hockey game.
But seriously--the reason I think mosts of these posts are bullshit is because the "sighting" always seems to happen at South Quad.
It's as if no one can see a player unless said player is poking about some "quad".
Shit, I wonder why no one sees a football player at the library? Hmmmmm
"Good stuff."
As if the fact that most football players live in SQuad, and the rest live in West Quad, means absolutely nothing...
Of course you're going to see players "poking about some 'quad.'"
Umm I believe most "sightings" happen at either south quad, is because it is right across from west quad, where most athletes live. So they'll either go to the cafeteria at either south or west quad, cause everynight each has a different set of foods. Have you ever been to the campus? Also, most students study at like the ugli or grad libs, not at schembechlar hall where the athletes study, so naturally it's more likely to see them right by where they live/eat.
Athletes live in both West and South Quad.
Athletes don't study at Schembechler Hall. They study at the Ross Academic Center, which is on the other side of Yost from Schembechler Hall.
live in west quad, not south. but they do eat at south quad.
some other athletes do indeed live in south quad.
is this guy going to get banned?
