Shit, I get my ass chewed out like that all the time, and it's for, um, somewhat less than $1.5 M a year.
Kiffin has my empathy, but not my sympathy.

Sorry, boss.
You joke, but I worked at a McDonalds when I was in school. In my career I've delt with CEOs and Agency Directors and business owners of all stripes. But nobody struck more fear into my heart than the 19-year old McDonalds assistant manager on the night shift. I swear, I still have bad dreams about it.

Working on totally stressful situations. Now I work on machines that treat cancer kids, when it goes down people freak shit lose it. But still the most stressful job I ever had was at a Wendys.

Is there a traditional power that is middling and needs its program blown up for a decade? He'd be a great fit at Penn State.

This is why they brought in The Sarkisian! Kiffin will always be known as a guy who gets chased out of town.

accomplished male boss, a legend like Saban, maybe better form would be to do it in private.
On the other hand, try getting chewed out in front of colleagues from a non accomplished newbie male boss or worse, a pms'ing female boss
September 11th, 2016 at 10:16 AM ^
What if your accomplished, Saban-boss is also pms'ing?

September 11th, 2016 at 10:20 AM ^
How would you feel about getting chewed out by an accomplished female boss? Just curious.
September 11th, 2016 at 10:25 AM ^
that's for sure. But it didn't feel any different to me than getting chewed out by a guy
September 11th, 2016 at 11:49 AM ^
Sucks the same, and just as with dudes I deserved it. Much worse to have a little prick destroying you behind your back. Even if that little prick doesn't actually, you know, have a prick.

When the counter revolutionaries of the Vendee went into a full on retreat out of fear of the French Revolutionary army, they met a force they feared even more than the one they were fleeing, their wives, who roundly chewed their asses for retreating. The women lit the seed of courage in the ment who then stopped the retreat and won that particular battle.

It bums me out that misogynist dumbshits like you still exist. It's 2016.
September 11th, 2016 at 11:45 AM ^
who "hates" women. How would you get through life without your ability to label everyone who doesn't buy into your world view as someone who "hates"?
September 11th, 2016 at 12:00 PM ^
"Say something offensive to bitches, and then act like it wasn't. Bitches deserve respect." This is how what you said reads to me.
September 11th, 2016 at 1:50 PM ^
You claimed that it would be okay to get chewed out by a male boss, but much worse to be chewed out by a female boss who is "pms-ing." It seems obvious that you deem women to be less worthy of respect than men. Ergo, misogyny. If you're offended by that tag, maybe consider why you're offended.

I get that he was unhappy with the offense because, honestly, Bama played like crap. What, less than a hundred yards rusing? They won, but 'struggled' rather than 'blew the fuck out'. I don't know what the rant was, but most likely had something to do with their lack of being able to run the ball well.
But who cares? Michigan couldn't run the ball well, yet Harbaugh didn't rip into anyone. The Michigan staff set up a game plan expecting 8-9 in the box to stop the run, and played accordingly. Why didn't the Bama staff do the same? It's not hard to imagine a creampuff seeing they only possible way to stay in the game is to stop the run. So they flood the box and stop the run. Saban wasn't ready for it (and neither were Georgia or Clemson), and that is on him. Yet he rips apart the OC, whose game plan he approved.
I kinda like our coaches demeanor, and with his staff they bring a decided schematic advantage.

As expected, UCF yesterday bellied up to the LOS to stop the run and dared us to beat them through the air.
September 11th, 2016 at 10:27 AM ^
I'm pretty sure Harbaugh would agree that you still have to be able to run the ball when teams stack the box--especially playing a sub-par team like UCF
September 11th, 2016 at 10:33 AM ^
September 11th, 2016 at 9:14 AM ^
Why didn't the Bama staff do the same?
Because Alabama QBs always throw the ball like shit. If they have to rely on their passing game to win games, they won't win games.
September 11th, 2016 at 9:43 AM ^
That my friend is why Michigan can beat them. Lewis can lock down Ridley and they can load up to stop the run. Espn announcer said it best that their defense will carry them this year. Starting a true freshman QB and they never really have good development in that department or that good of players talent wise. Unless they unleash Damien Harris, I smell doom! Haha...

Truly a mystery how SEC teams like 'Bama and LSU can be so completely physically dominating year after year and yet almost never have more than a serviceable QB. Shite, put Wilton Speight on that team and they'd be ready to build a statue for him this week.

Bo told a story of confronting his defensive coordinator in his first season when MSU was running all over Michigan. Said the man fainted, I am sure he changed his approach after that.
Definitely examples you can point to of heated exchanges but they always come at a risk. Grudges are most certainly kept but just not displayed publicly.

Almost as many times as Hanlon quit.

Individuals learn who they can get away with that with. If Saban decided to get heated with the wrong individual he would be lying flat on his back. He will be excused since he is a successful football coach and we make idols out of those but it's not good practice to publically embarrass people like that.
If I were Kiffin, I would meet with him privately and remind him that I have a wife and children watching; he gets a free pass on one but if he ever does that to me again then he better be ready to pick himself up off the grass. I would remind him that I extended a courtesy that he did not extend to me.
I am not even a Kiffen fan.

Saban is a hardass, but it's your word against his. And you will lose that battle every stinking time. He is untouchable, and you are very much replaceable. Saban could dump Kiffin today, find another OC, and still be a title favorite every year. You'd be lucky to find an assistant to the water boy position at Dipsy Doodle State Technical College.

Kiffin is very wealthy already. He won't ever be in the unemployment office. Easy on the hyperbole.

next, saban gets upset at Sark for drinking.

I listened to Saban post game...I agree with what he said. He should have handled it differently during the game but his thoughts are right.
September 11th, 2016 at 9:01 AM ^
it was the end of the game and LK put a dude in motion instead of handing the ball off and running out the clock, which led to a TO and a late score; I suspect that's what drew the ire of Smaug.
