Purdue names new AD

GT AD Mike Bobinski -
not sure if this is a step up from Atlanta to West Lafayette
Any change he gets Paul Johnson to come with him and Purdue runs the triple option?

Must really like engineering schools that use black and gold I guess.

They need someone to rebuild, not someone to tear down.

If Hazell gets to 6 wins this year, I'd say he's safe. But I don't see more than 3-4 games on their schedule that I'd say they have more than a puncher's chance in. And that's completely disregarding the fact that they're breaking in new coordinators on both sides of the ball.
Hazell is gone by midseason.

Paul Johnson is never going anywhere near Bobinski again, according to those in the know. Bobinski, in this Atlanta Journal & Constitution article, comes across as a little... Brandonesque, I guess the word might be.

Not that he was exactly like Brandon by any means, but he certainly wasn't popular and didn't seem to know how to keep people happy: "From one athletic department donor: “'The culture has changed. It became more of a me-first place as opposed to the student-athletes coming first, or as opposed to, "We’re all in this together."’"

I wonder if he was on his way out at Gt and Purdue was the best landing spot

Sumlin has had his fair share of issue at Texas A&M. It's a step up from Hazell for sure, but I'm not sure that Sumlin takes Purdue into the upper echelon of the Big 10.

Purdue is best to go the route of IU and hire a system coach to recruit system players. Looks like AD burned his bridge but Paul Johnson would be one of those coaches if available next year, provided Hazell can't get his sunken ship to float.
Shoutout to the 812!

I am pretty sure that this is the most generic that a generic white dude gets.

he will start an enthusiastic conversation about leveraging the unique synergies available to us at this great school.
You Betcha.

Why does the color of his skin matter?

I was going to come in this thread hoping that Purdue had named their new AD Walter for some reason, but then I realized that even Purdue would feel compelled to actually make a hire rather than just rename someone, although it seems like something Purdue might try.
I do wonder if this means Hazell is now under a microscope though. I mean, all the talk about success and "all-in commitment" kind of made me wonder if he's decided to do one of those sit-down sessions with everyone to see where they are at, if you will.

So multiple failed candidacies at another B1G school would make the AD spot at Purdon't a logical decision. Makes sense.

Purdue should move to the FCS.

GT fans and commentators down here seem to be of the "good riddance" opinion with Bobinski. He was a crap fundraiser, Tech's facilities continued to fall further behind the rest of the ACC, he gave Paul Johnson a questionable extension, and only time will tell if he made a good hire for Men's BB (Pastner).

Can't do much worse; unless, I guess, you're Eastern Michigan.

I used to respect Purdue-good, sometimes outstanding basketball and a mediocre, sometimes kind of good football team. Basketball is on the decline and football is really, really bad. I hope for the Big Ten's sake they can get someone to turn things around.

The kind of team that loses to Marshall and Bowling Green, almost destroy MSU's dream season and then take a giant dump in Mike Riley's picnic basket, and causes ranked Northwestern and Iowa teams to shit themselves.
I don't trust them, especially against decent opponents.
They have like 8 starters back on offense and 8 starters back on a horrible defense.
They're probably going to be better than last year.
Starting 3 games are against EKU 6-5, Cincy 7-6 and Nevada 7-6. All at home.
Plus they don't play Michigan, Ohio State nor MSU this year.
Purdue Offensive Coordinator this fall is Terry Malone, of Michigan fame. In other words, Purdue fans should mentally brace themselves for plenty of telegraphed quick hitch passes to a flanker in the flat for no gain.

Purdue football has been a dumpster fire since Wilford Brimely retired.
