White pants for road games permanently: your thoughts?
I'm a big fan of the white pants on the road.
And Harbaugh said today that they're gonna be permanent, as opposed to a one year deal which it was supposed to be.
Harbaugh says the white pants on the road will be a permanent thing. He's a fan of that.

So this is a postmortem for the Maize pants on the road, if you will.
Aside from that small block of the mid-70s and last year, we have worn Maize pants on the road literally since Maize pants were first introduced to the uniform back in the 1930s.
I've gotten so used to the white pants that it almost feels weird when I see Maize pants on white jerseys from practice shirts. It also probably gives me a more favorable view since we went undefeated in B1G road games last year for the first time since 1997.
Not to mention winning a bowl game by 34 against an SEC division winner in their own state.
Are you happy about the white pants staying? Will you miss the Maize pants?
You shouldn't wear white pants or white shoes after Labor Day, but i still like them.

If Putin's down, I'm down.
I like them both, so I'm pretty indifferent. I may even like me some blue pants with a white jersey. I'd have to see it, but I bet that'd look good too...
I love how they look, but I also think the maize would look amazing with the current setup. Ideally they'd rotate, mainly white with maize as an alternate (Maybe throw in a blue at home too). But, the white pants probably are my favorite and represent a new era of Michigan Football.
No blue pants at home. Yuck

I'd prefer it didn't happen, but an alternate, "Pro combat" uniform seems inevitable. If that uniform is simply all blue, I won't freak out.
The all-blue looked great.

I liked the all-blue too. I just thought the jersey number font sucked.

I would like to see all blue. Don't know if I would like it, but I'd like to see it.

Someone brought this up in another thread, and I think it's a great point: The current away uniforms look exactly like the Cazzie-era Basketball uniforms. Based on that collar we saw of the basketball uniform, it looks like it may be similar to that era. That uniformity is great.
I want the maize pants back...
permanent means for now
the white looks great but we are in the era of a fresh look. maize pants are easy change in the future
how about a maize jersey in the future- fab5 on grass

We didn't wear Maize jerseys that year. That myth sprouted from that goofy painting of our uniform history from the 2000s.
There were Maize jerseys in practice that year. The only time we wore Maize jerseys was in 1928 against Navy. We played at Navy, and they wanted to wear their Blues with gold numerals.
So we had Maize jerseys made with Maize pants and were said to have looked like canaries.
I have no doubt you knew this before providing the link as evidence. One of the most WD posts ever and I mean that in a good way. Your passion for all things sartorial is impressive.

Yeah, it sounds really cool, yellow on yellow, but when WVU and Cal do it, it just does not look very good.
For basketball it's great, but for football it just doesn't work.

competitive team on the field, the outcries would've been about the same as now. Winning cures all ills.

I like it. I like the stripes on the sides too. In fact, I prefer the road uniforms to the home uniforms. I know it may be blasphemous but it's just my opinion.
Lots of teams use white, only one used Maize. Many more years spent in Maize. Well, it sets us up for returning to Maize when Harbaugh retires.

I liked the maize pants, but to say we were the only ones to wear them is a bit misleading. We were the only ones to call the color "maize", but several other teams have worn more or less the same shade.
those are still my two favorite road unis, but i dont think it would look the same now with the small sleeves and smaller pads.
but as long as they win, they can wear them backwards and inside out and I won't care (though the fit and look may not go over well with players or fans). I just grew up on the maize pants look. Doubt the white pants will affect performance. Perhaps someone will conduct a study to determine its effect.
We'll make a deal: They can wear white pants on the road. But first loss and it's back to maize.
We'll put up with white as long as you win.
Initially, I couldn't stand the white pants. The look grew on me over the course of the season and now I love em.
Prefer Maize... but I liked the all-whites last year well enough. I'm ok with them going forward.
