I think that most of what has been done in these 5 months, was mostly stuff that was "near done" when Hackett turned the reigns over. With the exception of bringing Red back
Very incomplete.
I didn't see where night games have been ruled out for the forseeable future -- last I saw was this quote by WM:
“We talked about it this year as I was coming in and made the decision that this year we wouldn’t have a night game here at Michigan Stadium,” Manuel said. “I think some of our fans like them, and I’ve heard from some fans who prefer day games. But I know our fans love Michigan football, so whether it’s played in the day or played in the night, they want to see our team have success. Last year we played three (night games on the road). … I know the fans are interested in night games but that’s taxing coming back late at night for the team.
“We considered a lot before we said we wouldn’t have a night game this year. But the future there could be night games at Michigan Stadium.”
Yeah I don't know why people have been twisting his words. He clearly says there are no night games for this year but it could be happen in the future. Frankly there isn't a game this year at the Big House thats worth playing at night except maybe Penn State or Wisconsin.
Disappointing because the could have done Nebraska in '18 and then start making the Va Tech/Washington/UCLA/Texas games at night. Would have been a nice run through our second-teir marquee rivals in '14-'16''18 in the years when we do not have our two top-teir rivals on the schedule, with night games. Nice season ticket thing. But oh well.
Not too much stands out there in terms of early season marquee matchups at home, but then there is that Michigan State game in early October...
If not MSU...Cincy? Air Force? Minnesota?
Ohio State? ;-)

At least, not anytime soon.
MSU? A possibility, I'd say.
I can't see us going two consecutive years without a home night game (it hasn't happened since we put up the perma-lights), but hey, who knows.
It's ready.
Has done whatever Harbaugh wanted. A+
Giving Harbaugh (almost seemingly) complete autonomy is the reason I'm OK with him. Getting ND back is good but all three rivalry games away in one year is gonna be really tough.
I'll never understand not having one night game a year, but won't beat the already very dead horse. Instead, I'll just admire the lights (and the 2M spent) at noon when I'm there.
FWIW, the lights do get used for 3:30 games. For instance:
(Those are the old, portable lights in the first picture.)
I do think it'd be nice to play one night game a year, though.
As I noted below the photos.
The larger point being that 3:30 games require lights, not just night games.
Are people really bothered by the Arkansas cancellation? I don't like the financial hit we took to cancel, but that game didn't really do anything for me otherwise.
It wasn't an either or proposition especially since Michigan still needs another opponent for 2019. Yes this increases the odds of getting a 7th home game for 2019 but it will likely be a directional school. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see Michigan play six home games which includes a road game against Arkansas than seven homes games one of which will now include the likes of EMU.
you spelled BERT wrong
We played Washington and Oregon in home and homes did we not?
Other than that, the scheduling of these games is bizarre. Us starting the season at ND does not typically go well. I don't think we won a road opener at ND since Lou Holtz first season.
Then playing the 2019 game in the middle of the conference season doesn't make sense. Looking at the 2019 B1G schedule, I'm blown away that we would've had three straight road games (obviously done during the DB reign). But in the middle of that, we now have ND.
The only reasonable thought I can find for these decisions is that in the event of losing those games, the CFP committee will like us playing a tough road game to start the 2018 season and in 2019, and we'll still have @MSU and @OSU on the schedule to recover from a midseason loss at home to ND.
I'm excited to have start the season with ND and also have an interesting mid-October matchup with them. My concerns lie with making the CFP.
that late in the season seems weird. I always remember the ND game being very early (1-3), but maybe they used to play it later?
It's always been played in September in my recollection. In '97 it was the third week of the season, which is the latest I can ever remember.
Michigan essentially had a first week bye that year and then played for 12 straight weeks.
Yeah, technically speaking it was week 4 of the season (bye, Colorado, Baylor, ND).
Michigan used to play Notre Dame in October and November, though the last time that happened was 1943. Every game prior to 1978 was played in either October or November, every game since the resumption in 1978 has been played in September.
Not having a night game and he got fleeced for ND. I'm also very annoyed they got rid of Arkansas when they had open dates or could have got rid of SMU or something instead.
The only reason not a D is because he let Harbaugh do the entire month of camps. I'm sure it was quite expensive. A+ for that. It's an investment and it will pay dividends. Already has.
