Harbaugh Fires Back at Alabama Coach

Submitted by HelloHeisman91 on

I love that he didn't call him by name.

"Amazing" to me- Alabama broke NCAA rules & now their HC is lecturing us on the possibility of rules being broken at camps. Truly "amazing."

nope, but they probably would have kicked our asses if they had. Saban has had scoreboard on pretty much all of college football over the past 8 years.

I love Michigan and what Harbaugh has done as much as the next guy. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Alabama's program, dirty or not, is still the gold standard. A tweet is not going to change that.

If this was the other way around, we'd all be laughing at the Alabama version of this thread, at least I would be. I firmly believe we are on our way to an amazing 5, 8, 10+ years with Harbaugh at the helm. And this tweet did make me smile, but that's about as far as I'm going to take it until we actually kick their asses on the field.

I may be in the minority here, but 8 don't really like this kind of thing from Harbaugh. Perhaps it's the social media factor that irks me - if he had said this during an interview or something, I would probably think it's awesome, but there is something inherently annoying to me about talking shit on Twitter.

I can't claim to know what every Michigan fan wants, but I'll assume we'd all prefer Harbaugh to win on the field instead of on Twitter. Why not both? His personality is of the type that doesn't back down from challenges. Who he is on Twitter is who he is at practice, in the film room, on the toilet and at The Cracker Barrel. You can't separate the two. You can't expect him to not be himself.

So you'd rather he not defend his program from cheap shots until he beats the team taking the cheap shot?  That's a BS call, there...  He was pointed to as leading the charge for illegal recruiting by a guy that cheats - he damn well better defend his program.

Yet, you would rather he not?  We can agree to disagree...

He will win a National Championship because he does this kind of thing.

Football is a tough, alpha-dog game.  Elite recruits love how he sticks up for his team and his players.  Every top recruit wants to put Michigan on their list, if nothing more than to see what all the buzz is about.

We won't get all of them, but we will get more and more of them as momentum increases.

Coaches are making unsubstantiated and false statements related to Harbaugh and Michigan. Instead of saying nothing which is the usual "high road" Harbaugh responds alluding factual violations. It's a great response. Anybody who hits him has to expect to be hit back harder. They will think twice next time.

This.  Plus, the current prospects all use twitter and Harbaugh is trending nationally despite it being the SEC's day.

More importantly, I think Harbaugh must love this year's team if he can go at the biggest dog on the block. Everybody's petrified of ever calling out Saban.

I don't particularly care one way or the other, though I'm not sure what he's upset about with Saban. I watched the video and Saban was asked about Harbaugh, so he responded using his name. He didn't really call him out or anything. But whatever, it's the off-season and we need CONTENT

You're losing the message for the medium.  Is there anything particularly more appropriate about Saban going off on an incoherent rant at a news conference?  No, it was a hypocritical mess, and this response was perfect.  It's a lot less work than setting up an interview or calling his own presser, or shoehorning it into a conversation with a reporter on another subject.

It was assumed the biggest bully on the block was in the B1G. It's refreshing to see the program take aim at all of the bullies in CFB.

Wow! No more "sub-tweeting" or leaving things up for interpretation. He is pulling no punches and I ABSOLUTELY love it! It's "amazing" that I could like Harbaugh anymore than I already did!

This may go overlooked. However, that picture for his Twitter account is perfect. How many other coaches can say they grew up going to games, playing for, and now coaching, their university. F'in awesome!
