Recruiting snowflake thread
Maybe the rest of you are smoking a cigarette or are asleep after today, but there are a few things I found interesting.
1. California has 45 four starts (247 composite). Michigan got 3 of them (all in top 20). Notre Dame got 1. How's the CA scheduling working out for them?
2. Normally, I think of the state of Ohio as having two four starts to every one in Michigan, but this time it was only 12-9. OSU obviously did well, but they could have done better had ND not signed the #1 and # 4 recruits in that state.
3. Illinois is about the same as the state of Michigan in terms of 4 starts on average, but it only had 6 this year to Michigan's 9. For whaever reason, Sparty leaned up there.
4. In the B1G footprint west of Michigan/Ohio exluding Illinois, there were 9 four stars. U of M got three of them, Nebraska 2, OSU and MIN 1 each.
5. The state of Virginia had 6 four stars. UVA and VTech got none. Instead, Marshall, Duke and Stanford each picked up 1. Two went to FSU; OSU got one.
6. Pitt did well in Ohio with some low 4 stars/high 3 stars. Narduzzi might be muscling in on some of Dantonio's territory?

Not really a "snowflake," but I'd like to express my appreciation for folks on this blog who kept all of us informed during these last weeks of the recruiting process. I'm referring both to the actual writers here, but also some of the commenters who spent a lot of time updating the rest of us on recruiting developments. I'm tempted to start an "Alum96 Appreciation Thread," but I'm a little gunshy so I'll just mention it here.
I'm too lazy to try to go back and find projections or swim lanes from, say, December, but it would be interesting to see how much changed during that time. My recollection is that there were some guys who we felt we'd be lucky to get back in December who eventually lost their spots because even better prospects signed on. Pretty impressive work by the staff!

You're absolutely right, like I think Harbaugh said, some will mock it and the others will copy it.
Question for you, the U of M site says we got 28 recruits, but I think ESPN has us at 29, do you know who is the potential discrepancy?

WD alter ego or not, I always sort of liked Discuss Man. What was his tag line? "Don't fuss, just . . . discuss."
Now that I think of it, wouldn't he include "DISCUSS" in extra large font at the bottom of his posts? Kind of similar font size to what Benn uses above? Hmm, the plot thickens!

something about the strident tone, the rapidity of the response, it would take about one more thimble-full of circumstantial evidence to make that connection stick.
we all (well, most of us) love WD and appreciate he is a 19-20 kid with a michigan fan badge the size of the UP, but that doesn't mean we can't poke our young friend in good humor.

The mods can check the email associated with my account. It's my name. That's all I can speak for.
The problem with this is that there is no way to definitively prove the usual twits wrong as you cannot trace IP addresses with accounts.
Double accounts are easy to sniff out because the dummy usually has some email that's obviously a dummy account. There was some idiot a year ago making fake accounts pretending to be me.
This whole thing is so tired and is another reason why I dipped out the past two days. I got really irritated by all the negativity the other day about the Gary to Clemson nonsense.
I'm tired of talking about accounts or arguing with people over stupid shit. I just want to talk about Michigan. This is the only place I can go to do that.

I'm tired of arguing with people on a message board.
There's no way I can prove I'm telling the truth so it's the people who don't like someone online's word or mine.
I'm at the end of my rope here.
