Congratulations to the Class of 2020
Notifications went out today to early admission freshman applicants. Congratulations to the new Wolverines and future Leaders and Best that will arrive on campus in the fall.
I am thrilled to say that my son will be among them as a freshman in the College of Engineering and (hopefully) a tuba player in the MMB.
Go Blue!

you'll likely work hard as a freshman, harder as a sophomore, hardest as a junior, and then ride it out to graduation. Probably my proudest moment in life was when I got to stand in Michigan Stadium when they asked the College of Engineering graduates to stand.
Go mechanical if you're so inclined.

One thing to maybe think about is the opportunity to do research as an undergrad, in which case UofM probably has the largest variety in terms of academic fields.

We do have the benefit of in-state tuition so for me I definitely know where I would like her to go to school (i attended UM as well). But both of her parents are in a position to allow her to go wherever she chooses. She did attend cheer camp at Michigan a couple times and really enjoyed herself so I hope when it comes down to it she chooses wisely (i.e. Michigan).

One thing I will say is that as an OOS student in 2009 with no particular ties to the school, Michigan was fairly "meh" to me. Flash to six years and one graduate degree from an Ivy later, and going to Michigan ended up being one of the best experiences of my life in many ways, and most of those had nothing to do with sports (and it was equal/better to the Ivy).

Congrats also to Will Carr, who will walk in May with 4 of the D Linemen he helps coach.

(not so young anymore) was accepted as well. I am very proud of my son, the man he is and the man he will be. Congratulations to all the future Wolverines. Go Blue Go.

This means that the kids that were sophomore newcommers when I was a senior (my HS went 10-12 grade) are seniors.............
That's unbelievable to me. HS flew by for me personally, but college has gone even quicker.
I hope your son has made the most of his senior year of HS! You really get out of it what you put in.
That would be the one piece of advice I'd give anyone still in HS or approaching their senior year. Do all kinds of stuff. Go to the football games, road trip to the road ones.

Congratulations! I took my high school senior son to the Game a few weeks ago and he was so thrilled to be back in Ann Arbor. Alas, with out of state tuition it is not in the cards for him to follow his Dad to UM. Instead, he becomes a Clemson Tiger next year. I told him that around January of our freshman year we were all wondering why we didn't go to a warm Southern school with all its, uh, amenities. He will get that experience. But he will be blue in his heart even as he screams his head off in Death Valley.

The freshmen class that will be on the team to play in the road game at Texas in the non-conference game in 2027 are currently in kindergarten.

If you need reasons why scheduling games that far out is ridiculous, there's one.
The freshmen bluechippers that will play in the Oklahoma-LSU game in 2028 are in preschool right now.

9 years ago this week that I got in(!) I never really thought I'd go there at that point; then I visited and fell in love. Best decision I ever made, of course.
Congratulations to eveyone today and I have to say I'm a little jealous.
God, I feel old now.

You feel old? I was accepted 29 years ago - into a PhD program. I feel ancient.

I'd recommend it. I had a chance to talk to at least one individual who blew my mind. These kids today... They are SMRT smart.

Man, its absolutely crazy to think that it has already been 6 years since I got that email. Seems like it was just yesterday. Michigan was the only school I had ever really wanted to go to, and it was the first one I heard back from so it made waiting for the rest of the letters so much more stress-free.
Congrats to all and Go Blue!
