and Sam Adams Winter Lager. First time trying Sam; Abita is good! Best part is my wife doesn't like either, so there is more for me. Guinness Blonde for her.

Must be the night for SA Winter Lager. I'm working on my second.

Three Floyds is truly a remarkable brewery. I highly recommend the trip to Munster, because the food there is great, too.

Xocoveza Christmas Stout because mexican cocoa helps me add weight! (Of course I should be losing the weight - not that time of year son!)

This is relatively mainstream compared to some others that have been mentioned, but I look forward to stocking up at thanksgiving every year as my go to regular drinking beer for the cold winter months.

Excellent beer, widely available, and a reasonable price. The Troika!

Delirium is magic. I'm drinking Fat Tire...also known as Mother's Milk. Good clean stuff.

As I am all by myself this evening - mother-in-law has the kids and my wife is at work - I went with the Guinness Extra Stout. I must remember not to have the beer replace dinner, of course, even though the "meal in a bottle" concept is not a bad concept with any beer.
November 25th, 2015 at 4:29 PM ^
Guinness is the beer that eats like a meal, anyway.

But there are so many great, thick, flavorful stouts out there today that Guiness actually seems watery and bland to me now.
November 25th, 2015 at 5:36 PM ^
guinness is a dry stout and actually pretty light bodied. i think the color tricks the brain into thinking otherwise (and the fact that many people are only comparing it to light lagers).

User Skurnie recommended this last summer when I was admiring Boulevard's "we're never going to name a beer for a pedophile-enabler" shot at Duqeusne for brewing a JoePa tribute beer. By luck that very night I was at a Jay Farrar show, and they had it on tap. Now I'm hooked on it.
Shakes fist at Skurnie (because this shizz ain't cheap).

A lady at work makes this:
12 large egg yolks
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups heavy cream
3 cups whole milk
4 cups bourbon
½ cup rum
¾ cup cognac
1 pinch of salt
She says the pinch of salt is to ward off the devil. It's basically pure booze and eggs. And sugar and heavy cream and whole milk.

For me. I think I like the All Day IPA in cans better than bottles. Maybe it's because a 6 pack of bottles are 10$, and a 15 pack of cans is 14$ :-)
