Hello: Michael Shuster 2016 QB

Preferred Walk-On?
October 29th, 2015 at 4:10 PM ^
Sullivan and Spath from Rivals are both reporting he is a PWO.
October 29th, 2015 at 4:13 PM ^
That was confusing for a second. Please retitle to include PWO to aid those with heart issues.
October 29th, 2015 at 4:27 PM ^
Does the moment of worry that Michigan might have used a scholarship on a no-name recruit really get your heart going?
"Oh my God, Michigan signed a less-than-ideal recruit! Dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria!"
October 29th, 2015 at 4:35 PM ^
I think the bigger concern would be using up another scholarship at the QB position when we have so many other needs to address in a class with limited space.
October 29th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
Good point. +1

Insightful +1

Responsible, practical.
October 30th, 2015 at 11:03 AM ^
obvious.
October 29th, 2015 at 4:37 PM ^
I'm comfortable with Harbaugh taking no-name recruits, but I think the moment of worry comes from spending a scholorship on QB when we have other more important needs. At least that's how I feel.
*trustblue beat me to it. +1*

The problem is that you never have any way of knowing who will pan out and who won't. So while you're right that if all 8 of our current QBs are bad, it would be worth taking one right now, no one gets to know that information until August/September 2016. Instead, you have to work in probabilities of the current guys working out, and with 8 QBs -- some highly regarded -- the probability that one works out is very high.
October 29th, 2015 at 5:46 PM ^
Good point. They are definetely working in probabilities and the probabilities seem high from the outside. Usual caveats obviously apply that there might already be less than 8 internally and amongst those 8, the coaches might not belive some number of them will figure it out. Rudock beating out all Qbs eligible to play this year is not ideal for them when we have evidence that 5th year transfers are not promised starting/contributing roles (Lyons). Some are younger so it may not be an indictment on their probabilities of success as much.
Basically if Taysom Hill or whoever shows up in 6 months it's possible that player is filling the biggest need.
October 29th, 2015 at 9:10 PM ^
If Rudock beat out all 8 QB's we have then for godsake TAKE AS MANY QB'S AS POSSIBLE because we really have zero QB's!
I am sick of seeing other teams start freshmen and sophmore wonders tha rack up ridiculous yards while we just make up excuses why this just isn't possible.

and other teams start punting on first down not knowing what else to do, you'll see the Genius of Harbaugh.
October 30th, 2015 at 6:49 AM ^
An entire offense made up of only QBs. Imagine that playbook.
October 30th, 2015 at 7:32 AM ^
but here's the box score: TFL, TFL, TFL, TFL.

to play the LSQB position (Leg-Sweeping QB).
October 29th, 2015 at 4:48 PM ^
My cat gets along with dogs fine but hates all other cats. Maybe she thinks she's a dog but cats and dogs often do live together fine.
I MEAN OMG A RECRUIT NOT IN THE ESPN TOP 100! REVOLT!
I'll take a few more glasgows please.

this says more about your cats. Dogs are pack animals, while cats are independent (e.g. hunting for prey).
Cats are so mysterious, but it sounds like you've got some cool, mellow cats!

On the precipice of all Hallows eve.
October 29th, 2015 at 5:38 PM ^
Please edit title.
Not that I don't want the kid...but we have so many other needs.
October 29th, 2015 at 9:11 PM ^

October 29th, 2015 at 4:17 PM ^

Way to Go Blue, Shuster!
October 29th, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
I'll wait until any of the Michigan recruiting experts announce this...and this has to be a walk-on. You wouldn't take a scholarship on an unknown like this.
October 29th, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
Assuming this is a PWO witht he scholarship crunch. His only other offer is Bucknell.
October 29th, 2015 at 3:50 PM ^
Don't forget Columbia!

Here are his highlights:

Edit: This article says that he received a scholarship

They updated the article. He received scholarship offers from other programs but is a PWO.
The Lions’ pro-style quarterback came away from Ann Arbor with an invitation from head coach Jim Harbaugh and, according to Camp Hill head coach Frank Gay, Shuster notified Harbaugh on Thursday that he would join the Big Ten power next season as a preferred walk-on.
Shuster, Camp Hill’s four-year starter, had drawn interest from Duke, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and others. Several FCS programs were lining up with scholarship offers, as well.
October 29th, 2015 at 9:52 PM ^
If I were a PWO quarterback, with only a few lower-level offers, and had the resources to pay my way through U-M, I would jump immediately at an offer to train under JH for 1-3 years, and see if my status improves enough to transfer to a D-1 program on scholly to try to reach my maximum potential. Perhaps a grad transfer after year 3 which would leave 3 yrs of eligibility.
October 29th, 2015 at 11:18 PM ^
Correction....
2 years.
October 29th, 2015 at 3:49 PM ^
long ball?
October 29th, 2015 at 4:02 PM ^
Looks like it according to his film. Hit quite a few guys in stride on long balls
October 29th, 2015 at 3:49 PM ^
so... 3 QBs in the same class?
PWO, im sure
October 29th, 2015 at 9:12 PM ^
make it 10 as far as I'm concerned- a great QB = 5 other players
October 29th, 2015 at 3:50 PM ^
Confused by some of the reactions. I know we all like to speculate.
Let's be happy for the kid!
October 29th, 2015 at 3:53 PM ^
Be happy for him, yes. But this is about building a football team, not a feelingsball team.
