Brought back sad girl friend memories...
While there I checked out Hatin' Ass Spurrier and found this gem:
Mark Dantonio out there struggling against a MAC team like he's got a $15 million buyout and a Hawkeye tat on his leg.

So well written. College football brings out a sense of nostalgia unlike anything else in the world.

OK, so I will be the lone voice of dissent. That guy was trying wayyyy too hard to be deep and meaningful.
To quote Peter Griffin, in describing why he didn't love the movie "The Godfather": "Because it insists upon itself..." That guy insists upon himself...

But in the end, concluded that he didn't know the difference between love and infatuation. With that said, the message of not falling in too deep with this Michigan team resonates even how tempting it may be. <<insert the Hoke poops gold .GIF here>>

I'll go a step further and say this guy is absolutely pathetic.

... but I prefer a more direct style. Reminded me of this quote from Hemmingway.
“Poor Faulkner. Does he really think big emotions come from big words? He thinks I don’t know the ten-dollar words. I know them all right. But there are older and simpler and better words, and those are the ones I use.”

Pretty hard to be Hemingway (or Faulkner for that matter). Several well constructed and entertaining paragraphs deserve to stand alone and be appreciated without comparison to the true masters of the craft.

I respect the guy for putting himself out there, but he's trying too hard.

I liked the week one piece. The latest not so much, agreed on trying too hard.

I did think his season preview column was good. That one works because he didn't stray from his ostensible purpose - to tell the reader what it's like to be a Michigan fan. But his other columns are way too Mitch Albomesque for my liking.

Sorry, but moving to chicago was the first proof on immaturity....then, well, the rest of the read was like left over bread pudding. Man up and get a hard on for September Football. Actually, just get a Harb-on for what is to come in October and November. Hint: we WIN!!!!
