Michigan Is 3rd in B1G in Average Recruit Rating
Kind of cool news AND a reminder that we will be just fine...
http://michigan.247sports.com/Board/59424/Contents/Michigan-Slowly-Moving-Up-B1G-Ranks-35323899
With Perry's commitment, we have the 3rd best class in terms of average recruit rating in the B1G according to 247.
While it would be nice to fill out the class at positions of need and hit on some of our remaining targets, we're good either way.
Go Blue!
EDIT: Changed the title because I realized that Perry's commitment lowers our average rating somewhat. We were already third.

3rd in the B1G in average rating? Color me neither impressed nor depressed. Just meh. Which, I think, is all we can expect.

Considering the turmoil and the fact that one of the teams ahead of Michigan is the current MNC, it is nearly are dire a situation as some on this board make it out to be.

Mike Weber also favorited Malzone's latest tweet that the best players in Michigan play for Michigan... Interesting...
Going to quietly wait for tomorrow w/o getting the hopes up... but maybe there is a chance...
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:41 PM ^
But seriously... can we haz good things now?
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:46 PM ^
We can haz good things and good cheeseburgers too! I'm going to keep myself occupied with other things until like mid-day tomorrow because I don't want to get my hopes up too much. If it happens, it happens... "If you're for us, then you're for us"!
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:26 PM ^
No, we can't. That became most obvious when Jim Harbaugh became our coach. We haz all the bads.
/s (It has become apparent to me that at times I must use this or risk neg-bombs)

Im sitting at home with a broken elbow, can't sleep because of the pain and just internetting the shit of this recruiting thing. There are several sites/articles predicting Weber to Michigan now. I think he was one of the calls JayH was referring to yesterday. However, I'm on drugs.

the best vacation I ever had was a 2 week recovery from shoulder surgery. An empty house, pain killers, and a lot of porn.
Too bad it was my right arm in a sling.

So, you're left handed now?
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:30 PM ^
How dare thou get my hopes up!
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:42 PM ^
Actually we were 3rd on that list BEFORE Perry's commitment at a average of 88-something. Perry dropped our average down a bit (not that it matters).
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:49 PM ^
Yep. I changed the OP to reflect that.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:43 PM ^
We have the same number of 4 stars as MSU with our class size being much smaller, for whatever that's worth. Probably not worth much.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:43 PM ^
We were a 5-7 team in 2014 and have a new coach who has been out of recruiting for 4 years. Looking at it from that perspective we should be happy with what we have been able to get thus far.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:52 PM ^
I'm with you, man. Getting Gentry was huge and Cole is going to be a star.
We already have the #1 recruit - Harbaugh. He's like 10 stars. :)

Shouldn't there be three fingers raised on that big foam hand? Soooo confused.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:49 PM ^
That only one 5-star recruit has committed to the Big 10. (sucks even more that he is going to Ohio)

Sorry to threadjack but a few rumblings on twitter saying Van Jefferson has decommitted from Ole Miss.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:54 PM ^
apparently he removed "ole miss commit" and added Detroit skyline pic to his Twitter.
I think he's going Blue.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:57 PM ^
That also decommitted today from Ole Miss?
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:17 PM ^
Drew Richmond. He is likely ending up at Tennessee.
February 3rd, 2015 at 4:15 PM ^
Van Jefferson was quoted in an interview, "Drew Richmond was down there with me and me and Drew always wanted to play together so that's going to be something special." With Drew's decommitment from Ole Miss, Jefferson removing "Ole Miss commit" from his Twitter profile, and the addition of the Detroit skyline for his Twitter header, I'd say Jefferson is all but blue at this point.

I'd laugh if a recruit said something along the lines of, "I don't want to tell xyz coach I changed my mind they're going to pressure me".
Followed up by something similar to the cell phone commercials saying they'd call to cancel previous service for you. I can only imagine him calling a rival school, "Yeah so Recuit A is going to go to Michigan instead. I know your first instinct is to call him, but he doesn't want that. Leave him alone and respect his decision".
Meanwhile coach on other end...

@clark8chris You can't go wrong playing in a TE friendly, pro-style offense with a stud like Jay as your TE coach. Good luck with everything

That's phenomenal. Didn't see this on the "don't Tweet at recruits" flowchart so WE'RE GOOD!

Did he not get the should I tweet a recruit flow-chart? Geez.

For the board's amusement, here's the historic Rivals Data comparing Michigan to Ohio State - 2002 to 2015 (to present). The trend of the last several years is interesting really, particularly how well they seem to follow each other.
Rivals data this year (good call - see below) would have us fourth (3.30)in the Big Ten by average, Ohio State first, so the compression there is pretty decent as we're only 0.14 off their average and Penn State (tied with OSU at 3.44) and Michigan State (3.39) in between us. The cumulative Rivals average for Michigan over 14 years is 3.51.
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:29 PM ^
When you say fourth you mean for this year correct?
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:15 PM ^
But I was told that Harbaugh is terrible at recruiting this year and Michigan is screwed!

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta tweets for the first time since July 9th to endorse Michigan/Jay Harbaugh for Chris Clark. Crazy!

Holy sh$t this is awesome. Validation from a very good NFL tight end that, a) our new TE coach Jay Harbaugh is a "stud" and, b) encouragement to our top TE target to attend Michigan. Thanks Dennis!

This has got to be a hell of a decision for him. I'm trying to imagine going to college and playing a sport for a team my dad is on staff for and I'm not so sure I'd want to do it, even though I have (and had growing up) a great relationship with my dad.
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:33 PM ^
Also could be said that "if you ain't first... at least you won't end up blown up in the middle of a nursing home."
Sometimes "ain't first" isn't as bad as it seems. At least in this context.
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:30 PM ^
the WWL (yeah, I know) Insiders have Clark trending to M and Weber as a potential "flip". We'll see tomorrow.
