OT: Klay Thompson NBA Record 37 Points in 1 Quarter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxjsz92v53M
13 for 13 FGs
9 for 9 from 3
Record for most was 33 by Iceman and Melo.
Unfortunately, our very own Nik Stauskas is the guy covering Killa Klay many times...

I'm 43 and have been playing and watching basketball for most of those years. I've never seen anything like this before. I'm absolutely stunned. WTF amazing.

Homie only got lit for 11 of those points, so came out looking pretty good.

what an amazing third quarter! He scored 37 of his team's 41 points in that quarter.

His father, Mychal Thompson, watched Klay on a smartphone from the Lakers' team plane.

For anyone who didn't know, Mychal is the color guy for the Lakers along with John Ireland and did a sports talk show with Mark Willard on KSPN 710 in Los Angeles before Mark got canned and the show was replaced in Dec.

I bet his back is sore this morning from carrying his team.
That was incredible to watch.

That's some Larry Bird stuff right there.

If he keeps shooting as much as he did in the 3rd qtr, he will end up with a torn rotator cuff like Kobe.

Big IF, but it's not like they've been a "regular season" team for 5 years. They're a young group just now putting it together.
The "show me in the playoffs" comment, to me, is reserved for teams that consistently tear up the regular season and then get knocked out way too early.
The Western Conference is so talented it's sick. The East has improved, but the west has 8-9 teams that are VERY VERY good (and fun to watch).
But yes, they AB-SO-LUTELY knew what they were doing when it come to Love. No way you take that trade.
Love will sign with the Lakers this offseason and it'll be a much better fit. Especially if they get Randle healthy and get Mudiay in the draft.

Absolutely LOVE when athletes are in the "zone." Makes for some amazing feats. This made me think of Pedro in the '99 All Star game for some reason.

Thompson reminds me of Isiah Thomas in the NBA finals against the Lakers. Being in the zone is the best feeling ever playing basketball. I swear the hoop looks about 10 feet wide. So much fun. Must have been fun for those in the building last night...

That is just insane! This guy just propelled himself into the national spotlight. 9 for 9 from 3 in one quarter?? Has anyone ever went 9 for 9 from 3 even in a whole game?

He was a four-star G out of California, signing with Washington St. in the 2008 class. He had a short offer sheet; besides WSU, they were from Notre Dame, Pepperdine, and Michigan.
The Michigan offer came in September of 2007, so that would have been Beilein offering him.
January 24th, 2015 at 10:00 AM ^
Seeing his shooting ability, I can see why Beilein liked him haha

Klay Thompson has averaged 7 FGA from behind the arc this season and connecting at a .459 rate.
Wonder if he'll match Rice in both attempts and percentage this season.
January 24th, 2015 at 10:25 AM ^
Someone will match Glen Rice but it won't be Thompson. It will be Kyle Korver, who is having a mid-career renaissance apparently along with the Hawks.
He's shooting 50-50-90 atm... I think that is NBA record levels.
51% FG
53% 3 Pointers O_O
92% FTs
This is a historic season in the NBA. It's too bad not many people will pay attention cuz all the big market NBA teams are tanking.
January 24th, 2015 at 10:28 AM ^
No player's ever done 50/50/90 before.
Also, a lot of people have been talking about the Hawks, there's not too much time spent on them because they don't have a huge star. Reminds me a lot of the Pistons when they won the title.
