This is Dez Bryant running off the sideline to complain about that PI call. The flag was picked up. https://t.co/pI8YeW355m

I was talking about!!!!!
January 5th, 2015 at 7:31 AM ^
above all others is the one that pisses me off the most. Blown calls, sure that happens. Reffing mistakes happen, and bad defensive holding, on this drive, those calls happen too. The one thing that doesn't happen often in the NFL is missing the holding call when a D-Lineman beats his man on the perimeter. This is almost always called because it's one of the easiest to call. Everyone knows the OLine are going to hold when they're beat because they want to save a sack.
It also annoys me that no one else is talking about this, thank you for bringing up here.
In the grand scheme of things both sides had bad penalties and bad plays. This isn't basketball, this isn't hockey. There shouldn't be make up penalites for refs to make up for prior mistakes, but this was one that needed to be called.

I saw Suh literally get tackled and they didn't call it. . .It may not have been that particular play but it was a key play and they called nothing. There for sure could have been a holding penalty on that touchdown pass as well . ..

There were literally 5 consecutive crap calls against the Lions. I'm done with the NFL, and it pains me to say that.
January 4th, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
Im done with the NFL. They can take someone elses money and make the same fans happy every few years. Im done. We finally have a good team and the refs take it away from us.
I'm not playing their game anymore. I'm done. Never again. 31 years is enough for me. I want to be happy on Sundays again.

As someone who has been done with the NFL for eight years now, I can tell you that not giving a fuck about the goings on in "professional" football adds years to your life.

I've only bought into conspiracy theories in sports one time. In the stanley cup finals when the announcers only ever talked about the penguins and not the wings. Wasn't much of a theory but the refs made it worse when they had 7 players on the ice (including the goalie) for 2 minutes and scored a goal.
I feel that America's Team was destined to win this game. I just wished we had owners with enough balls to pay off the refs like Jerry Jones does. Maybe our owners had a bet on the cowboys winning?

On point. Party buses can't be that expensive; hope the Lions' management makes a wise investment in this regard during the offseason. :)

We'll never hear an explanation directly from the officials themselves, but the NFL League Office will issue a hollow semi-apology, stating that it was an incorrect decision to pick up the flag. Then they will proceed to do f'n nothing about it, do nothing to discipline the officiating crew, and laugh all the way to the bank as their beloved "America's Team" moves on to a dream match-up vs the Packers.
F*** the NFL!
January 5th, 2015 at 12:16 AM ^
Dean Blandino (VP of officiating) is going to "discuss" the play tomorrow on NFL Network. No sense going in front of someone who might ask him tricky questions. Prediction: The words "apology/apologize", "incorrect", "wrong", and "discipline" are never used. Blandino will field softballs, talk about "judgment calls," praise the "body of work" of that officiating crew, and the furthest he'll get to admitting anything is amiss is the word "unfortunate." If that.
There is an explanation of sorts from the referee, who said the back judge threw the flag and the head linesman was in "better position" to see the play and overruled it, and he wishes communication had been smoother. It's bullshit ten ways to Sunday but it's a lot more than we'll ever hear from Blandino, I'll bet.

It has been the weakest part of this team for over 20 years. If not for the pure awesomeness of Barry Sanders this organization would never have made a playoff game in the super bowl era.
SAME OLD LIONS

It wasn't until Lombardi got to town that the OL regressed.

To be fair, the O-Line was racked with injuries throughout the year, and two more linemen went down during the game. Although the line was playing well for the later portion of the season, its hard to be consistent when you have a revolving door of players at key positions on the offensive line. With that being said, the refereeing of the game was piss-poor, and although I normally don't like to complain about the way a game is called, the referees have some explaining to do.
January 5th, 2015 at 12:01 AM ^
As far as I know, the Lions have made the playoffs twice without Barry Sanders in the Super Bowl era. Just my thoughts.
January 4th, 2015 at 8:06 PM ^
That cared about the NFL have been extinguised the past week. Harbaugh gone. Lions have their best chance in years and probably for years, get rekt by The Shield (TM).
One last venting session, and then no reason to follow.

The last Lion road playoff win was in 1957, the same year of their last championship.
January 4th, 2015 at 8:13 PM ^
there are numerous wildcard teams that won the lombardi
January 4th, 2015 at 8:37 PM ^
"Numerous?" Out of a possible 96 teams in the 48 super bowls, 7 wild card teams have won the Lombardi. Four other WC teams made it to the game but didn't win.
That's a pretty poor record of success, and that's the way you'd expect it to be. If you're not good enough to win your own division, you're probably not good enough to win a playoff road game, much less the Super Bowl.

January 4th, 2015 at 9:00 PM ^
Well not if you are comparing it to the Lions.
January 4th, 2015 at 9:38 PM ^
and since then, it's been basically 75% division winners vs wildcard teams (until recently); now it's 67/33 split.
so 7 isn't that bad. if all teams were equal it would be 11 wildcard wins. but i agree it's an easier road to have road games, but history shows it's not impossible; 7 isn't insignificant, imo.
January 4th, 2015 at 8:14 PM ^
Lions are 1-11 in the playoffs in my lifetime.
Don, did you see the 57 championship?
January 4th, 2015 at 8:40 PM ^
I suppose I might have watched it with my old man if it was on TV, but I was only four years old so I don't remember anything one way or the other.
But you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA6b_nqZRaI

You still have to play the whole game, but every close game that is won or lost will come down to one major play. That was it! Was there other opportunities, sure, but that is a huge emotional play and changed the outcome. Same as Braylon dropping the ball on 3rd down in the 2005 Rose Bowl vs Texas. He catches it, game over. He drops it, we punt, Vince wins the game.
January 4th, 2015 at 8:25 PM ^
That sounds good to say, but in reality, sometimes one play does decide a game. That's why everyone on TV is talking about that one bad call. It's universally agreed that it was a horrible take back call and most likely helped Dallas win that game. Many of the TV analysts are saying the same thing.

Go Tom Brady at this point? It might not be a popular opinion, but I like the Packers and Patriots after my home town Lions. I'm looking forward to Denver and Indy as well.
