Ugh. I downvoted your first post because I don't want anyone saying fuck Michigan on here, but it's hard to disagree with what you just said.
I will point out one thing though. Brian mentioned taking Denard out in an important game for the 2nd half because of a possible concussion, which I don't remember but I'm guessing he's right. However, I'm pretty sure there was something in RR's first year at Arizona where he left a QB in who seemed to have concussion symtpoms as well.
EDIT: http://deadspin.com/5955530/what-a-man-reactions-to-the-university-of-a…
This is actually far more deplorable than what Hoke did. The guy was obviously hit in the head and then started puking, which is one sign of a concussion. Definitely no way to claim they didn't know what had happened. He played on after Arizona took a timeout. I think he got taken out after they scored a TD with him in the game. Changed my mind. I don't want RR back.
October 3rd, 2014 at 3:05 AM ^
This was just as bad as what happened here and RR should have been reprimanded for not pulling him. Worse yet, it looks like he only left him in to complete the drive. Terrible.
October 3rd, 2014 at 3:31 AM ^
I posted this elsewhere (and again, I'm not unbiased), but Matt Scott didn't even have a concussion in that game. He just threw up. It's something he did often. In fact, he did it in the preseason for the Bengals this year. He proceeded to throw a touchdown.
I get that Deadspin claimed it was a concussion thing, but Matt Scott wasn't concussed.
October 3rd, 2014 at 4:54 AM ^
Did you not read any of the debate over Hoke's handling of Morris? Scott was obviously hit hard in the head and then he puked almost immediately afterwards and looked a bit shaken up. He was showing symptoms of a concussion after an event that looked like it could have been concussion. It doesn't matter whether he had a concussion or not. You need to get him out of the game and test him. You can't just say, "Well, he does that sometimes. I'm sure it's fine."
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:49 AM ^
I mean, he didn't look "shaken up." He just threw up. I agree the optics are bad, but really, it isn't the same situation.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:29 AM ^
Dude, the guy sucked as a head coach here. Was he treated badly? Yes. But that doesn't change the fact that he sucked as a head coach.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:30 AM ^
Right. Here. Not at WV or Arizona.

Too bad they wouldn't give him $$$ for assistants.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:49 AM ^
We don't know about Arizona yet. So far, he's had a couple of great wins over Oregon but his conference record is still garbage.
October 3rd, 2014 at 3:10 AM ^
His conference record at AZ is now 10-10. Hoke's is 15-10.
Which program is headed in the right direction?
October 3rd, 2014 at 3:15 AM ^
Why is this always the response? We're not talking about Hoke here. We're talking about RR. Just because Hoke is bad doesn't mean RR was good.
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:01 AM ^
They both could've sucked at Michigan. One doesn't have any bearing on the other.
Rich Rod is doing well now, be happy for him if you want...that's fine. I'm happy for him. But it doesn't mean he was going to be good at Michigan, it doesn't make what he did at Michigan look any better, and it doesn't say anything about Hoke.
The both sucked at Michigan in comparison to Michigan standards. Different reasons, same result.
October 3rd, 2014 at 12:12 PM ^
Why in the world do you people think RR couldn't be good at Michigan yet good at Arizona? It makes zero sense. Arizona is a doormat in the PAC year in and year out. If Rich Rod turns around Arizona and one day makes a Rose Bowl, he sure as hell could have done it at Michigan. Even with the backstabbing at Michigan, Rich Rod would have won at least 9 games in his 4th year. The schedule was softer and his offense would have been ridiculously good.
Rich Rod is a much, much better coach than Hoke but that isn't even the point. The point is that RR is a very high level coach period when compared with anyone. He is going to again prove that with his long term results and when he does I hope people can finally quit spreading this moronic myth that somehow he couldn't win at Michigan. The Big Ten is terrible, especially now. RR just never rebuilt his roster even close to what he wanted it to be. At Arizona he will be able to do so and I guarantee the results will speak for themselves. Keep in mind that Arizona is at the tip of the iceberg of where they will be. They still have very poor depth on defense and that is changing the longer RR stays.
October 3rd, 2014 at 6:20 PM ^
Amen, brother! RR was EVERYTHING Michigan needed: young, proven winner, innovator, but even now people say he wasn't a good fit. Yeah, and that's Michigan's problem, not his, because he's fit everywhere else he's gone and is now back onto his upward trajectory. The better RR does at Arizona, the worse it looks on Michigan. Good luck finding another coach his caliber willing to put up with this Maize and Blue clusterf***.
Don't forget: the last time Michigan beat a ranked opponent was in 2008 under his watch. Don't forget, Denard set an NCAA record under his watch. So even with three lousy seasons, he showed glimpses of his potential.
And fyi: RR's bowl record against major schools: .556
Bo's bowl record against major schools: .294

Almost as stunning as our program's collapse is the far beyond a standard deviation current weakness of the Big Ten.
Hoke should be running downhill, but instead he's sitting in the middle of a field, blowing dandelions with a befuddled look on his face.
October 3rd, 2014 at 6:59 AM ^
Everyone hangs all the "Hoke" success (what little of it there is) on 2011 - with all RR players.

October 3rd, 2014 at 9:00 AM ^
Rich Rod couldn't win with Rich Rod's players...why should Hoke be penalized because he could?
Hoke should be penalized if Rich Rod went 12-0 the year before, then if Hoke has a good year...you say "well, those were Rich Rod's players." Because in that case they were already good and proven they were good.
I mentioned this last night, if I go 0-12...and you go 12-0 the next year, would anyone say "but those were Mr. Yost's players!" If I got 12-0, then you go 12-0...they'd have every right to say that.
October 3rd, 2014 at 10:28 AM ^
The one that has defeated Oregon two years in a row, and appears to know how to teach their offensive lineman how to put their hands on a defender and push them and stuff.
October 3rd, 2014 at 4:56 AM ^
.500 in conference is not garbage. Also, I didn't say he's done an amazing job. I just said he hasn't failed. And at this point, he certainly looks far more likely to do well than to do poorly.
October 3rd, 2014 at 7:15 AM ^
10-10 in the Pac 12 is what... 14-6 in the Big Ten? 13-7?
October 3rd, 2014 at 10:07 AM ^
... skewed!!!! I posted this on a different thread. Are Brady Hoke, Mattison, Nussmeier, et al...bad coaches? NO. NO.NO. Is RR a bad coach NO.
There is something amiss here and that is with two different head coaches in the last 8 years and two different AD's in the same time period
Regardless of the staff or administration - neither of their performances here have been up to expectations.
Again - all of these men are good coaches, Belichek, Pete Carrol, Saban, Spurrier, Holtz, Parcells- have not had success everywhere. And by the way all of my aforementioned Michigan coaches demonstrated success at other places
YET - this blog has consistently and ridiculously gone off the deepend fully supporting mob hysteria - fire RR! fire Hoke, wow RR is a good coach!
So I repeat where lies the problem?
AND
Are we helping anything with our massively OBTUSE reactions?
October 3rd, 2014 at 10:28 AM ^
I also believe our administration and late-Carr era alums with our fanbase are both toxic and insufferable.
I do not chalk failure up to the coaches themselves. Brady Hoke's SDSU squad was en route to being the new power house in the MWC, nearly dethroning the Rose Bowl champ that year...this, shortly after he made Ball St. the power house of the MAC.
It's not him.
October 3rd, 2014 at 11:54 AM ^
........ it is neither Hoke nor was it RR necessarily,
I just wish we (as a fan base) could stop the hysteria let him fulfil the length of his contract for continuity sake and then evaluate.

October 3rd, 2014 at 11:20 AM ^
He will never suck as a head coach. His results sucked because he inherited an atrocious roster with personel that did not fit his system. It was a complete rebuild. When RR gets his system in place, like any other elite coach, he dominates. And when he begins dominating when he gets his roster rebuilt at Arizona you can thank me for reminding you how good of a coach he is. Believe me this isn't the last time Michigan faithful who wanted RR fired far too early will look like morons for not seeing a great coach when he is right in front of their eyes.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:03 AM ^
It wouldn't happen in a million years. He put it all behind him and hasn't said a single bad word about anybody here since he left. Well, not publicly, anyway.
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:12 AM ^
Rich Rod has too much class to say anything bad about Michigan. But he may get a subtle zinger in the day that David Brandon is fired. Something like, "The fans at Michigan deserve better. I am glad to see them moving in the right direction."
October 3rd, 2014 at 2:34 AM ^
Rodriguez is not classy. As I've now mentioned above, he did something far worse with a concussed player than the current debacle.
October 3rd, 2014 at 3:13 AM ^
I am FAR from an unbiased observer (being an Arizona fan), but Matt Scott didn't have a concussion in that instance. He wasn't diagnosed with a concussion, and he played the following week.
In fact, you may have seen this same quarterback in the preseason this year for the Bengals. He threw up and then immediately threw a touchdown pass: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/80105/bengals-qb-matt-scotts…
October 3rd, 2014 at 3:54 AM ^
HE DID NOT SUSTAIN A CONCUSSION. Do your homework. His puking was a "thing" he did, without blows to the head.
October 3rd, 2014 at 4:59 AM ^
Do YOUR homework. Puking might be his "thing" but it's also a thing of concussed people. And you can't just assume he's just puking because that's what he does, and not because of the shot to the head he had just taken. Yes, I see now he wasn't concussed, but you should know by now that's not the issue. He needs to get taken out and tested. It doesn't make what RR did any better.
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:10 AM ^
Of course you can. Matt Scott puked during every practice and every game. There was just as much reason to assume he was concussed due to puking as there would be due to you or I spitting on the field.
Here's him puking on the field for the Bengals, while standing in the shotgun, seconds before throwing a TD.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3nuZg-E2uo
If you want to talk about RR's handling of concussions, let's talk about how he handled a potential one when he was our coach during the 2010 Illinois game. He took Denard's helmet, of his own volition, because Denard was a little wobbly coming off the field. He sat him for the rest of the game when we were fighting to become bowl eligible and his job was on the line. Denard was not concussed.
The fact that I continue to see Michigan fans citing the completely innocuous Matt
Scott situation over and over this week while conveniently forgetting the way he handled a head injury situation involving our most high profile player in a big game is not all that surprising, really. It falls right in line with the narrative that Michigan is the problem, and RR was doomed to fail no matter what he did here.
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:23 AM ^
Really? Every practice? And I'm sure he always puked after getting hit in the head. Puking after taking a hard hit to the head is different from randomly puking. I'm aware of the Denard situation. But just because Hoke might handle the next one well, doesn't excuse the handling of Morris.
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:39 AM ^
Yes, really. Every practice and every game. I'm just stating the facts.
Since you are aware of the Denard situation, perhaps you should use that going forward in your comparison of how the two coaches handle potential head injuries, considering that Matt Scott was 100% throughout the entire day in question. I doubt that will happen, though.
October 3rd, 2014 at 9:40 AM ^
AlthoughIt it is quite fun watching you cling to your wrongness, drop it already. It sucks being wrong. But you are.
