Looks like Mike Boynton Jr. is joining Dusty May as a high priority Assistant Coach.
Seems pretty accomplished for only 42yrs old.
as a 42 year old whom no one has said that about ... good for him
Here to all of us unaccomplished 42 year olds
There can be only one...
How did you do a double post with different spellings?
Alcohol is a helluva drug
I think it's when the gummy kicked in.
He looked at it and thought it looked off, so added another 't' and an erroneous period.
Hmmm
One is grammatically incorrect, and the other is spelled incorrectly. We're operating on no cylinders.
Eh, we’ve gone way beyond cylinders—we’re in scramjet mode now.
Natty?
I’ve seen double comments, but never a double post!
This scuttlebutt has 2 cheeks!
I'm glad Scuttlebut and Scuttlebutt. are in agreement with each other.
About coach Boynton/Boymton.
He joined twice!
Scuttlebutted
Buttscuttled.
I believe it is spelled Boymton.
As in, "Boymton Peach, Floriba."
LaVall Jordan next.
I don't know who this Norlander character is.... but that name sounds very credible.
On the other post someone mentioned how good of a recruiter Boynton is. He recruited Cade Cunningham (#13 class) in 2020 and had the #14 class in 2023. There are two top 40 recruits and a couple of other top [150] guys from OSU in the portal. They are all young. Boynton is also a "defensive coordinator" type guy. Kudos to whoever pointed all of this out in the other post that was deleted. This is a huge pickup.
Love it. I think it's time for a new batch of assistants. The one I would have kept is Sanderson unfortunately. Maybe his son will want to play for May.
Maybe his son will want to play for May.
Might depend on his dad's opinion of Warde Manuel and U-M. I'd be surprised if that's very positive right now.
I'm guessing we may never know the full scope of what happened between Juwan and Sanderson, but there is very likely some bad blood still remaining between Sanderson and Michigan. Or more specifically, Sanderson and Warde.
Warde stuck by Juwan through all of it when there appears to have been very little reason to, and I'm sure that was the final nail in the coffin for Sanderson to decide he was no longer welcome in Ann Arbor, and packed his bags.
Probably more likely that Sanderson's kid winds up at Illinois. Even though there is a new coaching regime in Ann Arbor, Warde is still there. I have a hard time believing Sanderson would want his kids playing any sport at Michigan while Warde Manuel is still overseeing the athletic department.
He can recruit and coach defense. It's a good hire.
Wonder if he can bring Eric Dailey into the fold now that Dailey is in the portal. Same with Eric Garrison. Both are freshmen so getting admitted to Michigan shouldn't be a big issue.
Two of my kids went to OSU (ntOSU), so I've paid some attention to Boyton. He's a class act, excellent recruiter and a very good basketball coach. I am excited to have him at Michigan.
Like the sound of this. A solid defensive mind, strong recruiter and P5 head coaching experience? Fantastic.
