Possible transfer alert: Wake Forest 6'4 WR visiting Michigan this week
Per Henschke, Wake Forest WR transfer Jahmal Banks is visiting Michigan this week. He's big (6'4, 208). He's caught for almost 1300 yards and 13 TDs over the past two seasons. He's likely only has his COVID year left of his eligibility.
This would be a good consolation prize after missing out on that tall Indiana WR that Brian so dearly craved.
GO GIT 'IM!

Will Michigan throw them?

Exactly. But win in a week and we shall never question things again. Until Tuesday

If they need to. The real question is do they need to? Passing is easy. It's much harder to move grown men, that never miss a meal, out of the way so your running back can score.

The Taj Jahmal would be a welcomed addition to the receiving corps.

This is stupid that our coaches have to worry about this while preparing for a national championship.
The recruiting/portal calendar is a fucking mess.
January 2nd, 2024 at 5:55 PM ^
it needs to align with the school calendar
January 2nd, 2024 at 5:57 PM ^
I doubt that our coaches are "worrying" about this right now, or giving it much thought beyond "we'll talk after next week."
I do agree that in the larger picture, the transfer situation is ridiculous.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:01 PM ^
Why worry? You know there is another portal opening around spring ball where more kids will become available. More gems to be unearthed at a later time.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:04 PM ^
Klatt has been banging on this drum for a while now, completely agree.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:23 PM ^
I'm sure it's slightly annoying (if they're even focusing on it) but being able to say to a possible transfer "will talk to more next week after I win a national title" is a pretty good sell in the meantime.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:50 PM ^
If you talk to them after the championship they'll already be enrolled and starting classes at their new school, unfortunately.
January 2nd, 2024 at 8:25 PM ^
I agree, but also think it's sort of a way to help even the playing field. Teams who made it this year made it, so now some other teams get a chance to improve.
January 2nd, 2024 at 5:59 PM ^
Michigan football social media should be showcasing everything that our transfers have done this season. The Bama game was a literal highlight reel fest for these boys.
Come on over Banks, join the good guys.

Another St Frances kid, same school as Barham and a long line of other players and Biff Poggi.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:20 PM ^
I vote we move our 6'4" guy Walker back to WR. I think he has a ton of potential there but and he will have much more competition for CB2 and BigAssReceiver1.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:39 PM ^
I vote that we 'trust the - 3 time BIG champion, on the cusp of a Nat Championship - coaches'
January 2nd, 2024 at 8:21 PM ^
Um, what do they know.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:51 PM ^
Slight issue was that I'm not sure he can actually catch... didn't look great tracking the ball and you know actually catching it the few times we saw him.
January 2nd, 2024 at 8:49 PM ^
You mean when he was a freshman? You know what other freshman had similar issues last night?
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:09 PM ^
Not the same thing. He looked worse than Stonum ever did. Reminded me of the big time receiver we lost to FSU many moons ago that never figured out how to be a receiver (Campbell?).
Not impossible that he could get better but you're probably better off letting him figure it out at CB and getting a portal WR that you know can track and catch a ball.
January 3rd, 2024 at 12:13 AM ^
This. If you closely examine any still shot of Walker attempting to make a play on the ball, you often see someone who appears to have lost sight of the ball.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:39 PM ^
On3 has him as a 90% chance of going to Nebraska currently.
January 2nd, 2024 at 8:33 PM ^
That would be a poor decision.
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:45 PM ^
As a fellow 6'4 man i approve this message
January 2nd, 2024 at 6:52 PM ^
He went to St. Francis so we have a ton a connections. Would be a big get.
January 2nd, 2024 at 8:38 PM ^
Seems like a smart kid
A 6-foot-3, 208-pounder from Arlington (Va.) St. Frances Academy, Banks chose WF over offers from Rutgers, Syracuse and a host of Ivy League schools. After two developmental seasons with the Demon Deacons, Banks broke out in 2022 with 42 catches for 636 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2023, he had 59 catches for 653 yards and four touchdowns.
Cursory search has him visiting (to hell with) ND last month and the money cannon that is Nebraska now.

From one of my alma maters to another. Sounds good, let's make it happen!

Must not like Cristian Dixon. Dude has been here three years and nothing.
