Meta - or my imagination, Home Page Shortcut
It's minor, even by minor inconveniences standards, but am I imaging things, or did there used to be a short cut link to the main homepage when you would scroll down? It was just the MGoBoard brand/logo/graphic and you could click on it to quickly get to the main page. Now, if you're in the board, you either have to scroll all the way back up and click the banner, or you have to click/hover on MGoBoard and then select MGoBoard. In my screenshot below, I remember it being where "About" is boxed and all of the other categories were shifted over to the right.

You can click on the banner as the link back to the homepage.

You can click on the banner or the "Home" button at the top of the page.
It may very well be that, in the site's previous configuration, it was there. In fact, I believe it was.

True. But OP mentions this after scrolling down. If you scroll down, you can't click the banner or Home button. You ... must ... scroll ... all ... the ... way ... up... THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

I mean /s understood, but do you know how hard it is to scroll all the way back up to the top! My finger getting workouts now!

You can also just hit the "Home" key (on the keyboard) and immediately be transported to the top of the page. In the same way, the "End" key will take you to the bottom of the page.

it's funny b/c I know what OP is going on about b/c I hate it every time

Not your imagination - there was an MGOBLOG button at the top of the page that scrolled with the other shortcut dropdowns that would link back to the home page.
I miss it.

I’m on safari and it is not there.

Bet that's a caching thing. We only lost it in one of the recent hot fixes. If he hasn't cleared cache in a few weeks it might still be running on his phone.

Agreed. Yes, you can click the banner or the home button to go home, but you used to be able to navigate home without having to scroll all the way up to the banner or home button and I definitely miss it.

Dammit where's the Freeze Panes option
December 7th, 2023 at 9:39 AM ^
Yes, I brought this up in one of the meta threads. It still has not been fixed. Very inconvenient.
it was on the far right of that bar.

I have noticed that my IPAD wants to jump back to the top page on the longer reads with video clips.
Guessing it is an advertisement thing that forces the page to reset.

No this is a cache thing. Clear your cache and a LOT of fixes will suddenly be active on your ipad. It should run at least 8x faster as well.

Remember the app? That was awesome.
December 7th, 2023 at 10:25 AM ^
it was the WORST. We were paying massive surchages and crashing whenever something big hit because peoples' pockets were constantly redownloading the whole site. This is like the Romans saying wasn't it nice for those few years when we just kept conquering everybody and treasure was flowing in all the time? We were getting pillaged.
December 7th, 2023 at 10:23 AM ^
Good catch. It'll be back. When we were hot-fixing the bar the guy doing it forgot the logo. The fix is already in the QA stage, as well as a bunch of other fixes (like the podcast images getting squished, an ad script that was running twice, a little shadow over the top bar, additional articles displaying correctly, and a major streamlining of the signup process).
December 7th, 2023 at 11:14 AM ^
I'm just glad the bar comes down with you as you're scrolling again. At least on the laptop, it wasn't doing that.

I noticed it too. Minor inconvenience - more curious than anything

Same...this cannot be allowed to stand.
