Notes:

• Obviously McCarthy is a "toss-up," maybe not even a toss-up, but he's not 100% gone so we’ll leave him here for now.  If he stays, Michigan is in BUSINESS!  If he leaves, a transfer is a MUST.

• Tuttle can get a medical, but I don't actually expect him to return.

• We will absolutely be hunting for a starting WR in the portal, maybe Burks from Purdue?

• AJ Barner is no lock to return. Neither is Drake Nugent, but both have eligibility remaining.

• Outside of QB, the other glaring hole is another starting CB. Domani Jackson, USC's defense is terrible. Come to Ann Arbor and start opposite your good friend.

• Kicker is also a spot where we could use a transfer, even if Samaha is the starter, you want competition there and having two guys is a plus.

• The last two holes aren't as glaring as QB and CB...but Michigan could look at another starting OT and a DT.  S becomes an issue if Rod Moore leaves, but he can shoot up draft boards if he comes back and has a big year.

• There will obviously be transfer portal casualties, I'm not ready to project those, JJ will be a huge driver. This team can 4-peat if they bring JJ back and add a few key pieces. OSU, USC, Washington, and Oregon all lose their starting QBs and there is no way the 3 from the Pac-12 improve at that position next season.

Quite a few of the guys you include will probably be gone but if they fire up the one more year canon again we could get some to stay.

Appreciate the effort, but you're right. It's too early, too many draft decisions.  And these types of exercises are totally pointless anymore with the transfer portal.

Looks like we'll have a good defense. We have a lot of young talented OL who may develop and help to improve the OL. If we win a NC, I think JJ and a few others will be gone. But we will probably get help through the transfer portal and either JH or Moore will have a team that will compete for the B1G championship and if we only have 2 or 3 losses, odds are we will be in the 12 team playoffs.

I’m with the chorus of posters who view this as a goofy exercise at this particular point in time.

That said, I agree with the suggestion that Hinton is better suited for LT vs. RT. While I bet the season’s worth of coaching played a role, he just looked so much more comfortable during the Maryland game. Could see him generating early round draft buzz if he makes the most of an off-season under Ben Herbert.

I don’t mind the way too early depth charts but yeah it’s a total crap shoot at this point. The biggest domino is Harbaugh of course. Or winning the Natty. Either one happens and I think you will see a lot of guys go. The OP list is extremely optimistic as many will go but we will see. My best guess at this point would be as follows:

QB: JJ (Feeling 51 pct)
RB: Edwards (55 pct)
WR: Morgan
WR: Morris
WR: Transfer (Might be Clemons but so far it hasn’t clicked)
TE: Loveland
LT: Transfer or Hinton
LG: El Hadi
C: Crippen
RG: Barnhart
RT: Jones

DT: Graham
DE: Grant
DE: McGregor or Moore
DE: Stewart
LB: Hausman
LB: Rolder or transfer (Colson 70 pct gone)
NB: McBurrows
CB: Johnson
CB: Hill (sophomore surge)
SS: Paige (55 pct back. Otherwise Sabb)
FS: Q Johnson (Rod Moore 75 pct gone)

this is a very good start to the roster for next year, we could be set up for another stellar season. let's keep jj around.

all personal agenda aside, i heard the talk from the analysts that nfl scouts like to see QBs with over 25 college starts. JJ JUST got there recently, it does seem he could improve his draft stock with another year of development. but money talks...good luck with your decision JJ, you are a legend

But, but, but...11 Warriors says that we are losing over 40 players to graduation this year and that the NCAA is going to hammer the program with the death penalty!  I'm surprised most of our team hasn't entered the transfer portal already.  Maybe this year's starters will just not play in the Alabama game so that they don't risk getting hurt and thereby damage their NFL prospects.  OSU is looking for a new starting QB, so maybe JJ will realize his error and transfer to Columbus!

compared to the previous editions of this thread I can recollect this is a pleasant surprise.  the stuff in the cupboard meshes nicely with the bounty of tasty selections in the fridgidaire ( ie., the portal).

stay thirsty my friends.
