That's sadly the first thign I thought. If these schools really beleived we were winning because of cheating, they aren't trying to make our rb coach their head coach.

That would suck big time because Michigan's resurrgence started with Hart coming from IU in January 21'. That said, he's a rb coach here and if IU is going to offer him the HC job, how could he turn that down?

Nothing outrageous there from Allen. Basically says he doesn’t know enough to judge.

"I'm not saying they did – I don't know what's going on there. But I just know, I just want to say we need to protect the integrity of the game. That's my stance on that, and I think that's important."

I hope he gets it. He deserves a shot especially there.
He is as much an Indiana Man as he is a Michigan Man with the time he spent there.

And just think if he does get the job and is successful in turning the program around

He made a lot of Indiana connections when he was with the Colts and IU. I was in Dayton during that time period and coworkers of mine from Indy area ended up becoming friends with him- they were native Hoosiers and said he became pretty in with the Indy area HS coaches and ingratiated himself with the community in his sort time there.

I respectfully disagree.   It’s like the difference between your undergrad and grad schools.   The allegiance to your undergrad is usually stronger 90+% of the time.

Hart’s professional - a solid leader, coach, man, etc.  He’ll be successful wherever he goes.

I wish him well - but, am selfish too.  I like him on Michigan’s sideline.

Go Blue!

P.S. - if offers are extended, I hope the effective date is January 11th.

And if Venables struggles his 1st two years in the SEC, it could become open.

Venables went from Clemson to a job like OU because he was part of a then dynastic program. Moore will have better jobs open if Michigan has 1-2 more years of success. OU level jobs. Not IU, Syracuse, or Duke level jobs. It could be more advantageous to wait than to take the first P5 opportunity available.

It makes sense that Mike would interview, but how much sense does it make that he'd take the job?  That's coaching purgatory, just like most of the rest of the B1G West.  I'd go to a mid major school and win there, become the hot name, and pick a good Power 5 gig where you've got a fighting chance at getting good players.  If he goes to Indiana he'll end up just another guy.

ADs and President's don't give courtesy interviews, unless someone else they want to interview or respect says "you should really interview this guy." Sometimes that gives them additional perspective on what to look for in a hire. It makes sense to go on those interviews because when someone calls those ADs and President's up for tips, they say "we really loved this guy. You should call him." But I don't think those are courtesy interviews. In all cases they are interested in more than the courtesy.

That's the thing though, if the bigwest is coaching purgatory, then all it takes is one HC to come in and do just a little bit better job than Kirk Ferentz to win the division.  Two seasons in the big championship, even if they get blown out by Michigan twice, and actual ranked teams will be calling with monster offers.

If he leaves, is it worthwhile to kick the tires on Thomas Wilcher? He's unemployed now and probably still has great relationships with the other high schools in the state. Just a thought.

I thought about this a day or two ago and it makes sense despite Hart never having been a coordinator. I'd hate to lose him but most everyone in the coaching profession wants to move up so I certainly wouldn't hold it against him. Someone in another thread made a comment about Gary Moeller taking the IL job in the late 70's and my concern would be that IU is currently a no-win situation like IL back in the day. But you never know and Mike Hart seems like a good man and a good leader.

They would be foolish to not interview Hart and he would be foolish to not interview. Needless to say I'd love to see him stay. It won't hurt his value either way.

Courtesy interview or not, good luck to that man. He is a Michigan legend, Michigan man, and deserves the best! He's been great here and I hope he stays and gets a raise but if a HC gig opens up and they offer, you take it.

I'd obviously prefer he stays here but I hope he gets it if he wants it.  That dude is as Michigan as they come, he deserves great things happening for him.
