Friday Night Games Sickos Thread
Three games to choose from:
- (ESPN) Tulane at Memphis - I've only seen commercials so far...
- (CBS Sports Network) Fresno St at Utah St - (NT)FSU used to be ranked, until Wyoming got them last week. Utah St is 3-3...
- (ESPN2) Georgia high school football!!! #6 Buford at Mill Creek - both teams are 6-0 and its currently tied at 10. Buford has Michigan commit Montez Walker.
(Meta: Is it me, or is the board super duper slow tonight?)

It really has been a hell of a ride this year.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:15 AM ^
Gotta say that 46 yarder field goal to send it to OT was a helluva kick by Stanford kicker. Made it look easy and good from 65.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:15 AM ^
WOW!!! Down 29-10!!! CU choked like a dog on a chicken bone!!! #13 gets the game ball!!! What a game!!!
Thank you, PAC 12 After Dark for another GREAT night of football!!!
October 14th, 2023 at 2:16 AM ^
I saw that highlight of Hunter getting that pick against TCU a thousand times. I better see that WR making that insane catch and pulling Hunter into the endzone for a game tying TD a thousand times.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:18 AM ^
Stanford lost to Sacramento State this season in a game where Stanford went 11/24 passing. How Colorado’s defense got torched for 400 yards passing in basically one half and OT is mind blowing.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:19 AM ^
Wowwww.... shocking comeback. I'd written off Stanford and just checked the score before going to bed.... no, they're going to OT, have to stay up.
29-0. Epic collapse. One point away from being one of the top ten in CFB history.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:20 AM ^
Shadeur goes hero ball and throws an INT. Think you settle for 3 there and live to play another OT
October 14th, 2023 at 2:22 AM ^
Colorado is a very poorly coached team. Beyond the blown lead because they refused to run the ball, the amount of penalties in this game was shocking. I wouldnt be surprised if Deion gets rid of the D coordinator mid-season, that would seem to be on brand.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:23 AM ^
One of the most epic second half collapses I’ve ever seen. Let’s put it this way: imagine the first half of Michigan vs Nebraska happened—and then Michigan lost.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:24 AM ^
Stanford kept running the same slant routes every play and Colorado did nothing about it
October 14th, 2023 at 2:27 AM ^
The most insane part is that they did. Different coverages. Different players. Nothing worked on that kid. Nothing. Unreal.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:28 AM ^
He reminds me a lot of Mike Evans. Definitely a pro.
October 14th, 2023 at 2:38 AM ^
Hahahahaha! (To “Coach Prime”)
October 14th, 2023 at 2:48 AM ^
This was the most poorly coached game I've seen in 40+ years of watching football. Sanders and his staff should be embarrassed.
October 14th, 2023 at 4:55 AM ^
Don’t worry he blamed his players for not being ready for the moment.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:02 AM ^
Now that's on brand.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:38 AM ^
Unless Sanders invests heavily in Oline recruiting and development, and also probably some emotional intelligence for his team, he will be a very entertaining coach for the next 3-4 years, but he will find himself getting fired, or quitting to pursue some other venture
October 14th, 2023 at 3:27 AM ^
I saw the half time score and was like “meh”
To wake up and see that Stanford came back and won is beyond shocking.
I’m assuming there was no “watch flex” at the end of this game.
October 14th, 2023 at 6:48 AM ^
And it’s not a Harbaugh-coached Stanford team or a “Peak David Shaw” Stanford team, either. This is a god-awful Stanford team.
Colorado desperately needed this game for its bowl hopes. Of their five remaining games, four of them are against ranked teams, and the one that’s not is on the road.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:39 AM ^
And the non ranked is against Jeff Fisch and Arizona who are pesky, and Fisch can coach circles around Deion
October 14th, 2023 at 9:03 AM ^
Oh, there was a watch flex, but it was by the Stanford players.
October 14th, 2023 at 4:33 AM ^
Colorado should at least get some credit for scoring a nice big prime number (43), shouldn't they?
October 14th, 2023 at 10:03 AM ^
Well played sir. That's one thumbs up for you.
October 14th, 2023 at 4:53 AM ^
Missed the insanity, but I guess ESPN wants you to relive it as they're replaying the game now.
October 14th, 2023 at 5:19 AM ^
Up early and what the hell, Stanford?!?
October 14th, 2023 at 6:22 AM ^
Colorado may not win again this season.
October 14th, 2023 at 6:46 AM ^
Deion is going to get a lot of leash, and any reasonable Colorado fan would’ve come into this season with minimal to no expectations.
But being up 29-0 at half and then losing to Stanford? THAT Stanford team?
I’m not really sure that a bowl game is in the cards for this team anymore. They have one more game this season that is not against a ranked opponent, and it’s in the road. Beyond that, they have Wazzu, Oregon State, UCLA, and Utah on the schedule.
Good luck finding a sixth win in there.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:42 AM ^
No one is happier for this Colorado meltdown than Mario Cristobal
October 14th, 2023 at 7:17 AM ^
A few points:
1. Night games suck to play in. Colorado probably wins if this was a noon game; still, blowing a 29 point lead is bad.
2. Travis Hunter was rusty. That CSU hit has paid dividends for their opponents. At some point, bring in Cormani. 29 points though!
3. This is an embarrassing loss for the ages.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:40 AM ^
Regarding point #1, I may give you the first part, but Stanford was also playing at night, Stanford was playing on the road, Stanford was in a different time zone, Stanford is not a good team, and Stanford was behind by 29 points at the half.
So all the excuses belong to Stanford, but Colorado CHOKED in Prime Time, Big Time.
Speaking of time, Shedeur, what time is it???
October 14th, 2023 at 10:43 AM ^
Giving up 300 yards to a receiver on a bad team is beyond Rusty….it completely out of position again and again and poorly coached.
Hunter would have fit well on the 2013 Indiana defense
October 14th, 2023 at 8:40 AM ^
You gotta give it to coach prime, even when he loses a disastrous, embarrassing, Atlanta-Falcons-Memorial-stealing-defeat-from-the-clutches-of-victory game, it's still highly entertaining. They're going to have to upset a couple of teams to even make a bowl now. And then he threw his players under the bus. Wow.
I wouldn't be surprised if 60% of the team next year was new players and transfers. 30 freshmen, 30+ transfers...
October 14th, 2023 at 8:48 AM ^
Like a lot of us I saw a bit of the early part of the game and then called it a night, only to wake up and see the comeback.
I did have a small inkling that going for 2 up 20 seemed like a karma-inducing act, but still didn't think this would happen.
One issue CU has had all season, and you saw it in the second half highlights especially, was that Shadeur Sanders holds onto the ball too damn long and if the defense can get any line pressure he's cooked. He took some sacks there where you either gotta throw it away or know the blitz is coming and get rid of it quickly/audible out.
And Hunter again seemingly played a billion snaps and by the end was running slower and missed a tackle or two.
This isn't a good Stanford team, though they aren't terrible by any stretch. They probably should have beaten Arizona a couple weeks ago. But there's no world where they should be storming back from 29 down to beat a team on the road.
I do wonder what happens to CU a bit; they basically only play ranked teams going forward and Arizona is no slouch. I suspect their OC Lewis is going to take a job this off-season and while Sanders is recruiting fine it's still CU and a bunch of kids may come for the party and the TV but they may not sign up to play in Boulder. So he's gotta develop the talent he has on hand and build up those lines, because they don't have it now and you can't rely on a couple of offensive players to carry you.
October 14th, 2023 at 9:04 AM ^
I mean... Stanford was 1-4 and lost to Sac State.... I think that meets several definitions of 'terrible'.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
Probably worse than “terrible”. More likely “turrible”
October 14th, 2023 at 9:56 AM ^
I’m assuming Travis Hunter’s Heisman campaign is officially over. I don’t recall Woodson giving up 300 yards to anyone.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
Also wonder if Woodson ever got an unnecessary roughness penalty when the team had just gotten a sack on 3rd and 22, up 10 in the fourth quarter. Kind of a soft call IMO but still, just keep your hands to yourself and don't give the ref a reason. Made completing the comeback so much easier. Oof.
October 14th, 2023 at 9:58 AM ^
Stanford down 29-0 at the half being completely dominated..... comes back to win in 2OT 46-43.....
Crazy game.... suddenly CO looking at the rest of their schedule hoping for 2 more wins to see a bowl bid.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
Well dang, I turned Stanford-colorado off at halftime, like I figured most reasonable folks on the east coast would have, and went to bed. Bummer.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:27 AM ^
Apparently Colorado players and coaches did the same!
October 14th, 2023 at 10:31 AM ^
That’s what happens when the team is nothing but a ragtag group from the portal. It is not a team. When they fall apart, there’s not much Prime can do to pull them back together.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:48 AM ^
Please, this is Deions fault. Anyone taking the pressure off of Deion is kidding themselves. He created this team, he takes full ownership of it. He essentially booted 80% of last years team out, and formed this one. This is a reflection of his coaching, and yes, probably his character as well if we are all being truly honest
October 14th, 2023 at 11:10 AM ^
Coaches make a lot of mistakes their first couple of years on the job, and if this was any other coach, nobody would really have paid much attention to the result. They would probably have said what most are saying now - it was a great game. But because of the hype around Deion, this game probably got way more scrutiny that it should have, it's Colorado and Stanford, not Oregon and Washington. And the hype around Deion got people to root against him as well.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:32 AM ^
I turned the game off, too. Stanford looked like the worst P5 team I’ve ever seen. And then I wake up to this and I’m kicking myself.
Hey, Deion - it wasn’t just your players who weren’t ready for the moment.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:34 AM ^
Watching the game now. Announcers are still laughing at the thought of throwing at Hunter as he’s giving up 3 bills.
Sanders missed a wide open out route that likely would have won the game in regulation. Sailed it over Hunter by 3 yards.
