This offense is going to be a problem
Watched the game last night and I was impressed by the whole team, but one thing stood out to me .. JJ's intelligent reads and decision making.
I am glad they are opening up the game for him and letting him run a little more.
I tried to look this up, but I can't recall a UM QB rushing for 2 TD's in a game since Denard. But JJ is a different kind of QB to shoelace who ran much more. JJ picks his spots.
Opposing teams are going to struggle to prepare for the things they are seeing this year.
Also CJ and Roman are becoming clutch, not just when they are open, but in contested balls too, which I can't recall since like Braylon or older. . Darboh and Jehu could be clutch but don't recall them being reliable on contested catches.... Our TEs had to make the hard catches, now it's our WR's.

Your title needed to say that our offense is going to be a problem for opposing teams to make it clear what you're trying to convey, this title was a bit vague, FYI.
On that note, our whole team is problematic for the opposition, not just the offense, Joel Klatt's description of our style of play being a Boa Constrictor is very apropos.

Title is fine. Calm down, title police.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:03 AM ^
Given the bpone and general melancholy we've come to expect as Michigan fans, I think it's only natural that most of us read the title and assumed something negative.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:18 AM ^
Title is fine if you like clickbaity bs.
October 9th, 2023 at 7:04 AM ^
It's funny what some of you get worked up about.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:46 AM ^
If we don’t police our titles what are we? Animals? RCMB?
October 8th, 2023 at 11:37 AM ^
This is also the reason we have snowflake threads.
October 8th, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
lol, it's a "cultural" thing. Possibly a two Americas situation?
I'm sure like you, I knew exactly what he meant when he said..."is going to be a problem."
For example, if I said...Roman Wilson is a PROBLEM. You know exactly what I mean and you could probably hear the tone in which I said it.
I imagine this is what it felt like in the early 90s when "Bad" meant "Good."
October 8th, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
Then how do you explain "Bad" coming out in the Eighties? Even "Fat" came out in the '88.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:53 PM ^
lol I didn't say Bad didn't came out in the 80s.
I referenced it being used in the early 90s.
How is your reading comprehension these days?
...next time READ before being so quick to rush to your "gotcha" moment.
(and fat/phat was used in the 90s too, yo)
October 8th, 2023 at 9:00 AM ^
I too was lulled into clicking and reading this post because it looking like something negative. We know that this offense is a 3 headed monster and maybe more. It's not even clicking at 100% thus far. Donovan hasn't opened his run game yet. The run game as whole is capable of rushing for 250-350 yd/g. The season high was 249 against Neb.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
I clicked through as well!
Love this team
October 8th, 2023 at 4:30 AM ^
Better get that checked out.
October 8th, 2023 at 6:57 AM ^
What, Jack's Irritable Bowel Dickdrome?
October 8th, 2023 at 3:42 AM ^
Love JJ.
He's not Denard.
October 8th, 2023 at 4:06 AM ^
And thank goodness for that, with all due respect to Denard.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:33 AM ^
There is no respect to Denard in your statement. They were very different QB's for very different offensive schemes.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:56 AM ^
I will not tolerate any denard slander. He was one of the only bright spots on bleak Michigan teams both in terms of his on field product and his attitude.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:28 AM ^
I’m Eastside Maize and I approve this message.
October 8th, 2023 at 4:05 AM ^
Nico Collins was and is still easily the best WR we’ve had in terms of contested catches of the Harbaugh era. Not only did he have size, but he knew how to use it to high point the ball and box out defenders. And he’s doing it in the NFL now.
But yes, this offense is going to be a problem for opponents and it has been for a while now. A high level offensive line and backfield tend to do that.
October 8th, 2023 at 4:32 AM ^
We saw it the most with junior hemingway. He was the master of the 50-50 ball. I don’t remember seeing it as much with Nico but that could have been the limited number of balls he saw.

UTL 1
October 8th, 2023 at 6:47 AM ^
Going back further I'd have to go with Jason Avant. He was one of the toughest receivers I've seen at Michigan, and excelled at catching critical passes in traffic.
October 9th, 2023 at 11:57 AM ^
Watch Nico's 3rd down TD against MSU in 2018

Just think if JJ had X.Worthy in our group of WR. It almost happened until he went to TX.

100% agreed. OP, please include your unique and special thoughts in the Snowflakes threads. If you need a quick primer on Snowflakes, check here. They are wonderful.

This offense is not going to be a problem for opposing defenses.
It IS a problem for opposing defenses.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:24 AM ^
Surprised no one has said this yet so lemme go ahead and get it out of the way:
We can’t talk about how good this offense is until we beat MSU/PSU/OSU.
/s
October 8th, 2023 at 8:06 AM ^
Really?
So I can't talk about how good this offense is until AFTER the ohio game.
Gimme a break.

I guess the season long joke from 2021 goes right over your head, huh?
October 8th, 2023 at 9:27 AM ^
The joke’s up here.
Your head is way down there.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:28 AM ^
Our defense is a problem too. 23 points given up by the starters in 6 games. On average our starters have played 3 quarters a game. That’s 18 quarters so 1.27 a quarter aggregated to 5.1 ppg.
Two FGs vs BGSU (one legitimate drive one on a short field from a fumbled KR.)
One TD on a spectacular blunder by the secondary vs Rutgers.
One 35 yard TD pass where a real good WR made a big time play.
It took 3 sentences to describe all of the points we have allowed with our starters this year. This team is a balanced machine.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:42 AM ^
Too add to your point, 23 points against and 21 points scored. Pretty, pretty good.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:28 AM ^
Pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:39 AM ^
Hmmm, lets see if you're on to something here...
Corum and Edwards had 13 carries for 89 yards, and JJ only flung it downfield 20 times for 220 yds.
And they put 52 points on the board.
Okay, yeah - you might have something here...
October 8th, 2023 at 8:39 AM ^
Based on playing nobody? This happens every year until Michigan plays someone with a pulse. Yes they’re good, but how good will depend on Penn State and OSU. We just don’t know.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:10 AM ^
I don’t get the sentiment.
Michigan put up 40+ points against OSU and PSU just last year. And this offense returned basically all of its major playmakers. JJ is no longer a 1st year starter, and looks to have made a leap. The offense is back on track this year after some shakiness in the noncon (from rust, new OL personnel, and repping new plays).
We know what we have. We can expect them to be successful against good defenses. It’s a matter of whether they can execute better than OSU and PSU on the day it actually matters. But I like the odds.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:38 AM ^
This is a lazy take, more main-stream-media than insightful. You watch college football, you've seen many teams play; how many play as well as Michigan?
You also know this team, because it returns so many of its starters from last year.
Lazy take.

This post IS a problem.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
Bad title, bad content. Moms, please merge with the actual snowflake thread or delete.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:38 AM ^
OP, to your point, I'm reminded of a sentiment Brian (i think?) voiced earlier in the year - basically that when they're executing well, it's truly a 'pick your poison' scenario that may just make opposing defensive coordinators walk into the sea.
With the emergence of a true 3rd RB weapon, a number of viable options in the passing game, JJ's legs, JJ's decision-making, and Moore's attack plans, a defense that hopes to stop this offense needs to: match their athleticism, match their discipline, AND notch some well-timed RPS wins, OR hand them a loaded gun and hope to convince them to shoot themselves in both feet multiple times. Good luck with all that.
I'm not saying they're invincible, but it's possible there's only one defense in the B1G capable of accomplishing that, and we'll meet them in Happy Valley on 11/11. Staying healthy until then will be the key.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:44 AM ^
I don't fully understand the down votes unless people are just upset about the title? Anyways, yes. The offense is great and hasn't really had to show much. The fact the starters are only playing 75% of the game, in theory, helps their health and "freshness" for the final three games of the regular season
October 8th, 2023 at 9:56 AM ^
The downvotes are probably because this is an absolute textbook snowflake post about the Michigan offense, for which there is a perfectly capable thread for OP to have used. OP decided their snowflake opinion is much more important than everyone else’s and merited their own special thread on the board instead, and used a clickbait-y thread title while doing so to boot.
People generally get annoyed by that stuff.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:41 AM ^
what makes OP's opinion a "snowflake" opinion? i think the use of that term on this board differs from that in many other places on the world-wide web.
also, people need to get over stuff. you don't like a thread, or think it's redundant? scroll past it.
talk about snowflakes...jeez Louise.

"Snowflake" is a term of art on this blog -- just look through the titles of message board threads.
