Jo'Ziah Edmond Has Committed to Michigan
Michigan couldn't get Ohio State Will Johnson (Aaron Scott) to follow his head to Ann Arbor, but they can still yoink dudes that Ryan Walters wanted badly. Tonight the Wolverines followed up an important in-state DL commitment for 2025 by snake oiling recent Purdue decommit Jo'Ziah Edmond from Purdue.

Edmond is an Indiana three-star ranked in the 300s from a city with a great name. He played all three ways at Indianapolis Warren Central the last three years but is transferring up to Nappanee to play for Northwood his senior year. He also looks to be about my age, if not Brian's.
He'll fit right in with Jaden Smith and Jacob Oden for the oldest-looking class Michigan's signed in a minute. The sites thought of Edmond as a WR but Michigan's bringing him in as a long-and-tall cornerback. Allen Trieu says they've talked about moving him up to a four-star, though he's not going to come in as the same kind of prospect as Scott. Given the vast differential lately in cornerback development between Scott's chosen school and Edmond's, it's no given things will stay that way. Michigan also got a recent flood of crystal balls for KY 3* Jeremiah Lowe in the wake of Scott's commitment to OSU, so the CB class might come together before we get to a Hello for Edmond, which should be sometime this week I imagine.

"He also looks to be about my age, if not Brian's."
Hard chuckle!

I have more of a baby face, and I'm 56, balding, and have gray hair.

Still looks about 20 years younger than Greg Oden looked at 18.

Welcome, Mr. Edmond! Go Blue.

Glad to add another DB.
Sounds like he has potential. I guess we'll have to see.
It still amazes me that this meme is of Robert Redford in a man vs nature 70’s movie and not Zach Galifinakas.
Wait, what?
Commits come in pairs or was it trips? In which case, who's next?
Jo'Ziah is transferring from Warren Central in Indy. Warren won 4 consecutive state championships while we were living in that school district-about 20 years ago. Maybe he can get his new teammate at Northwood, a WR, to flip from Georgia. Northwood is a smaller school football power-from where I grew up through junior high.

How could you not mention the hitching posts in front of Northwood for the horses the Amish ride on to school?! Basketball games against schools in that part of the state were crazy...3 starters named Yoder, 2 named Miller. All of them under 6'1".
I found this transfer very interesting, so I appreciate you illuminating the sit RE the WR that is Georgia bound...for now.

Ha. I am a Yoder-my mother was raised Amish...my first words were Pennsylvania Dutch :)
Northwood has 2 D1 guys? Nappanee is not a city, its a small town. Well known for a large Amish population. Northwood is a good program, might have to go see a game this year. Welcome aboard Jo'Ziah!
Ohio should have told him to wait till signing day to mess with Michigan. Gave us way too much time to find someone.
Is snake oiling a recruit a good thing? Doesn't that mean we tricked him with false promises?
There is a history to the "snake oil" thing. I believe a former coach at Purdue accused us of "snake oiling" a recruit from them.

Yes, that was Joe Tiller upset about Rich Rod "snake oiling" Roy Roundtree right before signing day.
Joe didn't seem to understand that being committed to Purdue means "committed to Purdue unless Michigan wants me."

Tiller accusing RichRod, I believe
Edit: EGD quicker and better memory above.

YMRMFSPA Courtney Avery
Unfortunately for Avery, he didn't have the Herbert mutant machine.
I'd love to pull in more 4 and 5* ready to go guys, but 2-3 years under Herbert and staff and I'm quite confident these recruits catch up ala Sainristil and Turner (just ran one of the fastest 40's in combine history).
Aaron Scott could have had the same trajectory as Will Johnson, but instead he'll be an underdeveloped CB at OSU like all their current secondary players that get torched in big games, then get drafted high based on potential.
Rod Moore, perhaps the best safety in the B1G this year, was not a take for OSU. Let that sink in.
Try again, Avery didn't have a 7 for wing span.
He's got the 5-star biceps, at least.
Welcome young man!
