Jesse Minter nominated for 2022 Broyles Award
Michigan OC Josh Gattis won the 2021 Broyles Award (top assistant coach). Can Michigan go back-to-back?
November 15th, 2022 at 3:55 PM ^
Well, at least this would be authentic.
November 15th, 2022 at 4:58 PM ^
Lol. I came here to say Moore won it last year they just gave the trophy to gattis
November 15th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Borges just commented on his talk with Sam Webb today that Minter deserves said award.
November 15th, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
Is Gattis up for it again?
November 15th, 2022 at 6:56 PM ^
Nua is on there, and so is LSU D-Coordinator / Sparty's best hope to replace Mel, Matt House. Interesting.
November 15th, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
Weird, I remember some "insiders" insisting Nua was terrible, that assistants were responsible for any success, and he was pushed out of the program as a result.
November 15th, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
Will he then too be taking his talents to South Beach?
November 15th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
Ugh. Perish the thought!
November 15th, 2022 at 4:07 PM ^
Congrats to Minter. His ability to iterate on last year's success has been impressive. Additionally, his second half adjustments are now bordering on "legend" status.
That said, and like Brian said on the pod this week, should have been Moore last year. Should be Moore this year. This team is 22-2 since the start of the 21 season, and while the effort has been a lot of different parts coming together all at once, it starts "in the trenches."
November 15th, 2022 at 4:53 PM ^
MF'er is reading minds at halftime - epic stuff.
November 15th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
Take it up with Jim. Programs pick their own nominees.
November 15th, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
Kiss of death?
November 15th, 2022 at 4:21 PM ^
Would be huge. What would be huger is if he and the rest of the coaches stay a few more years. Great group. Get the money cannons ready.
November 15th, 2022 at 4:43 PM ^
So many great coaches on the watch list. Congrats Minter for getting the nomination!
November 15th, 2022 at 5:25 PM ^
Good for him, and good for the team!
November 15th, 2022 at 5:48 PM ^
Jim Harbaugh hit back-to-back home runs with MacDonald and Minter, although the biggest test for Minter has not come yet. Let's hope that this year's defense can get to Stroud as many times as last year's.
November 15th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
with the help of brother John and the Baltimore Ravens defensive system.
November 16th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
That's what family is for, to help each other out.
November 16th, 2022 at 9:02 AM ^
although the biggest test for Minter has not come yet.
Yeah, Georgia looks legit again this year.
November 16th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
Yeah, Georgia looks legit again this year.
Well played.
November 15th, 2022 at 5:54 PM ^
He's done an incredible job. Hope he wins it.
November 15th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
I’m shocked Brian Ferentz didn’t make the cut.
November 15th, 2022 at 7:56 PM ^
He would be if they let DC's make the nominations.
November 16th, 2022 at 2:27 PM ^
I’m shocked Brian Ferentz didn’t make the cut.
I didnt think a defensive minded coach could get an award for stopping his own offense.
November 15th, 2022 at 6:04 PM ^
I'd rather he stays at least three more years as DC than win an award this year.
November 15th, 2022 at 9:07 PM ^
That's greedy, and I like it.
November 15th, 2022 at 6:07 PM ^
Let's see in 11 days
November 15th, 2022 at 6:26 PM ^
That's a hell of a list. And by "hell of a list" I mean there's a lot of people on it.
Good luck, Jesse!
November 15th, 2022 at 6:37 PM ^
Pretty awesome. Still a lot of football ahead this season. Go Blue !
November 15th, 2022 at 6:38 PM ^
At some point, people might have to realize that Jim Harbaugh truly is an excellent coach
November 15th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
Yeah, at some point, "people" might have to realize that. And by "people," I think you mean "Michigan self-hating fans," and not AP Coach of the Year voters....
November 15th, 2022 at 9:00 PM ^
Only MSU fans would say he is not a good coach. No one else thinks that. There is not a whole lot of coaches who have ever coached a team in Super Bowl. Jim does not need 10-0 start to prove he is a great coach.
November 16th, 2022 at 9:26 AM ^
Hey, I always thought Harbaugh was an excellent coach, even when I was on here screaming for him to be fired.
November 15th, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
Maybe I could see the OC from Tennessee being a finalist. Maybe DeShaun Foster, the running backs coach at UCLA, just because Zach Charbonnet.
But is there really a better candidate out there than Minter?
Maybe the DL coach at USC (ha!)?
November 16th, 2022 at 9:14 AM ^
Maybe DeShaun Foster, the running backs coach at UCLA
I had no idea DeShaun Foster, former star UCLA RB, was back coaching at his alma mater. That's cool. I like seeing players coaching at their alma maters.
Looks like he's doing a great job with Charbonnet, just as Mike Hart is doing with Corum.
November 15th, 2022 at 8:01 PM ^
We want ALL the trophies!
November 15th, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
He deserves it. I just hope we can keep him, because he's going to be a hot commodity by seasons end. Pay that man, put a ring on it, name things after him, lock him down.
November 15th, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Who loses Hutch and Ojabo and Dax and the D-coordinator and ends up with a better defense?
November 16th, 2022 at 8:54 AM ^
I’ll take Michigan for $2000
November 15th, 2022 at 9:21 PM ^
I'm looking to Minter to cook up a genius game plan and make adjustments that befuddle OSU in 11 days. I don't have the expertise to know the mechanics of executing this but neutralize Marvin Harrison and force them to be one-dimensional and rely on their true freshman (not sure if that's accurate) RB. Do it Minter!
November 16th, 2022 at 8:57 AM ^
Man let’s hope. If we both get past Saturday unscathed I’m gonna be a wreck for a week. No sleep and stress drinking. The days are gonna go slow and I may just hyperventilate 5 minutes before the kick. Love college football.
November 15th, 2022 at 10:19 PM ^
Does John Harbaugh have another madden kid for when we lose Jesse? How many more coordinators can we get from the Ravens before the well dries up?
November 16th, 2022 at 1:19 PM ^
It would be nice if our DCs werent like our PG transfers. Can we get a big buyout on his contract?
Michigan doesnt pay its players so let's make our aces on the staff untouchable (unless they move to HC).
