Maize Out Monday
Folks, sure seems like a lot of us are rearing to go for our next game. Personally, I’m sick of the Sparty shit and ready to beat their ass. I’ve heard mentions on here and twitter that we should try to create another Maize Out and make for another memorable experience and atmosphere for our boys that night. Saturday was awesome and the stadium looked great with almost everyone coming prepared appearance wise and bringing the noise.
With that being said, are we in agreement that we should make this a Maize Out for the night game? I’ve also heard people mention Blue Out but I think the Maize might pop better at night and not look so dark. If we can agree that a Maize Out is a good idea, should we start spreading the word here and on social media? What say you?!

Monday is enchilada night and I'm definitely going with maize tortillas!

taco tuesday is next up. made with venison by dear wife, good stuff.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
Who in the heck negs tacos?
October 17th, 2022 at 3:51 PM ^
They must think they're in the negbang thread.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
Must be a burrito guy. Hater
October 17th, 2022 at 6:10 PM ^
I think you meant to say your deer wife.

Taco Tuesday is the best

And here I am eating a BLT on keto bread for dinner like a schmuck.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
People will wear maize, I wouldn't worry about it.
The vibe in the stadium has been different - I think 2019 was the tipping point, if I had to put my finger on it. 2020 wasn't a real season, 2021 was fun too.
Majority of the attendees are Zoomers, Millenials, and Gen X. Boomers are fewer in number.
Attending games has been fun.
There are so many good songs for the DJ to play and yet other than 'Pump it up', his playlist sucks. On that note - can we move past Mr. Brightside already?

Down in front!

Nothing says “I’m ready to play football” more than a guy singing a song lamenting that his ex is getting railed by somebody else.
Players on the team also think it’s cringe.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
Let’s the kids have fun! It’s clear that most EVERYONE enjoys it. I can hear it on the broadcast and it’s glorious. You are like the Michigan TFG complaining about JJ not throwing for 400 a game just because you need something to complain about. Focus on the 99% of the experience you already enjoy!
October 17th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
1) I don't really care what the song is about. Seven Nation Army is about gossip and dating, per the band members themselves, and that doesn't make it any less awesome for sports.
2) Not sure what your source is on the players thinking it's cringe, but even if that's true, the song is for the fans, not them. The purpose is not "get ready to play football," it's to engage/hype up the fans. Which it does, exceedingly well. Choosing stadium music based on tastes of the players is akin to calling plays based on the opinions of fans.

Is this Michigan's version of the Wisconsin Jump around?
October 17th, 2022 at 5:40 PM ^
Some people really hate fun apparently. What's next? No more "Sweet Caroline" at sporting events because it's a song about love and happiness?
October 17th, 2022 at 7:48 PM ^
There's nothing wrong with Sweet Caroline...but everything has a time and place. I don't think Sweet Caroline's place is being played at a football game.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:19 PM ^
It is a little odd. The song seems to fit more situationally. It hit the right note against MSU in the rain, and last year after years of shit Michigan moves past OSU and Covid year to break the curse. But I don’t think it fits like “jump around” that gives the right feels every game.

Nothing says “I’m ready to play football” more than a guy singing a song lamenting that his ex is getting railed by somebody else.
You're not wrong, but spiritually that song really does captures our fanbase's zeitgeist for this millenium like no other, so might as well own it and make something fun out of something dark. Superficially the song is about your crush sleeping with, but it's really about the narrator *thinking* about that; in short, Mr. Brightside is about going thru and surviving BPONE.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:17 PM ^
I'm sorry, but this is such a garbage argument regardless of what side you're on. Nothing says "I'm ready to play football" more than a guy singing a song lamenting that everything will be downhill from here and you know what? I might as well commit suicide while it's good. Right? Except oh, Power by Kanye West is on every flipping sports pump up playlist that has ever been conceived of.
You can dislike Mr. Brightside, that's perfectly fine. but stop fucking pretending like the lyrics have or have ever had any relevance on the formidability of a song to be played at sporting events.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
It would seem that Mr Brightside gets the crowd engaged.
What might you suggest? Oh, perhaps some DJ playing "more contemporary" music? Or, replace it with Sweet Caroline?
How about picking two fans to throw out routes to two other fans?
October 17th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
All my worthless up votes to you
October 17th, 2022 at 5:17 PM ^
Yes. Continue to grow the playlist, but do continue to pump it up and look on the bright side! I'm for appropriating something from every other school, improving on it, mocking it, and glorying in it.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:49 PM ^
This "boomer" is in his 45th year of being a season ticket holder and I'm willing to bet I made more noise at The Big House than you did Saturday and every week.
Same for the other boomers I tailgate and attend the games together with EvErY. SiNgLe. wEeK.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:48 PM ^
Couldn't agree more. Don't underestimate the boomer crowd.
October 18th, 2022 at 3:38 PM ^
40th year here, and I still go back to the after-game tailgate a little hoarse (and no, I don't turn into a pony)
October 17th, 2022 at 4:50 PM ^
Or maybe it's because the stadium experience corresponds to the team's performance? Just spitballing.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:19 PM ^
I'll take one from each column, and even add that there was a certain genteel charm to the unique Ann Arbor crowds in the 80s and 90s. But that was the 80s and 90s.
October 17th, 2022 at 7:05 PM ^
Your take is bad and you should feel bad
October 17th, 2022 at 7:16 PM ^
Ironic, you claim the boomers are fewer in number and then come at us with the most boomer take possible.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:46 PM ^
Ok, I’ll pile on. The DJ sucks. I can’t find a discernible difference between any of the songs and they are all terrible. Yes, I was born in the 1970’s. Yes, I put punctuation on my sentences including 2 spaces after every period. Play some rock music! Get off my lawn. Go blue!
October 17th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
I am only 100% supportive of a Maize Out.
My primary suggestion is that Warde Manuel make sure the order for 120 thousand pom poms is delivered in time for the game.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:51 PM ^
Please include instructions for those unfamiliar with pom poms. ("Keep the pom poms at eye level or below. They'll still be visible on TV. Also, you will not block blueheron's view for no reason. Thanks.")

As long as it's flannel
October 17th, 2022 at 3:54 PM ^
Don't forget the boxers...
October 17th, 2022 at 3:50 PM ^
Maize out, at night, against MSU, would be legendary shit.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Does MSU really deserve a Maize Out, though?
Personally, I'd prefer the much darker Blue Out - an homage to the death of MSU football. Sort of like fans are dressing for the occasion...
October 17th, 2022 at 4:52 PM ^
I’ve always been of the opinion that the way to get under Sparty’s skin best is to treat them like they don’t matter. Don’t play them in prime time. Don’t pay them the respect of a Maize Out. Treat them like Northwestern, but dumber.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:28 PM ^
Pump It ⬆️!!!〽️

North until you smell it. West until you step in it.

Maize, and here's a coat to wear (since MDen has nada)

I just bought this one and like it. You can add some layers underneath if it’s cold.

never go full WD

All sizes Out-of-Stock, thus my comment
October 17th, 2022 at 6:52 PM ^
Shoot. I bought mine for the maize out last Monday and it arrived at home in two days. I’m sure they had a run with the theme and the weather.

"Rearing" to go? None of your business, buddy.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:33 PM ^
I would love to see if social media can come together and create this without the athletic dept initiating it
October 17th, 2022 at 6:30 PM ^
Tennessee fans have created a whole webpage for the sole purpose of coordinating orange and white for the various sections. They too are on a high, can’t wait for Blake to rip their hearts out in NYC 😅😁
