Excellent Tom Rinaldi Piece on Junior Colson
If you didn't happen to catch it on Fox Big Noon Kickoff, it is well worth 6 min of your time.
Junior is from Haiti where his father died when he was 6. His adoptive mother is a huge Wolverine fan.

Thanks for sharing. Junior is very easy to root for. And we obviously owe a recruiting assist to Mama Colson as well. 😁

I believe that's the second time they've shown that piece. I recall seeing it earlier in the season when Fox had the Michigan game that week. Heartwarming story

How did she become a huge wolverines fan in Tennessee? I didn't catch it in video.

I missed that part, too. Maybe she just liked Charles Woodson more than Peyton Manning?

Half the people who live in Nashville are from up North. So much so that Nashville almost doesn't have an accent anymore.
Get outside of town just a minute though and it's on.

There's a strong Michigan/Tennessee connection. A lot of folks from here just like going down there for some reason, then you factor in the GM plant in Spring Hill which a lot of people from here have and continue to transfer to. It's like a second home to some.

According to this article in The Athletic (paywalled) she was born in Michigan and grew up rooting for us.

Honest question. My son and I were watching the recording today as we always do to enjoy the big plays. On that long third down, where Johnson brought the lumber, I noticed Colson on the bench. And about 4 rows back on the bench. Why wasn't he on the field as our number one lb? Just hoping he was fine and it was because of the formation

I don't remember the score and situation (I remember the hit), but...
1. If we were up by 2+ scores, he may have just been subbed out for that series so other guys can play. Guys like Mullings and Rolder.
2. 4 rows back means it is probably not this, but we might have been in our dime package, and I don't think Colson is part of that package. Generally Dime means Turner, Green (Green was hurt, so Johnson was in), Sainristil, and then Moore, Moten and Paige are all in together. Michael Barrett is the sole LB in this package (although we did play some Dime yesterday with Mullings as the 1 LB).
I'll go back and watch, but that's what comes to mind first.

Update...it was Dime, Colson was the reason they were in 3rd and long, it was offensive pass interference on the play just before the Johnson hit.
But on the play his helmet is off and he doesn't come in on 4th down (Barrett and Mullings).
He starts the next drive, so he wasn't hurt. The next drive was only like 5 minutes after the last one because Corum broke off his 61 yard TD right after they got the 4th down stop.

Great piece—thanks for posting. Interesting coincidence that two of the best players on our defense (Colson and Sainristil) are Haitian emigres.
