Saw a ton of Wolverines out to dinner as well
September 30th, 2022 at 11:25 PM ^
I doubt it. I mean think about it, every Michigan fan going there for a Saturday noon game is going to be in town Friday night and being a visitor well what are you going to do on a Friday evening other than hitting town and going for a meal and maybe some drinks. Meanwhile the Hawkeye hordes are sitting at their dinner tables at home watching Farming Today or whatever the heck it is they do out there.
September 30th, 2022 at 11:40 PM ^
Yes the college kids are definitely not out n about. They're all in for the evening.
October 1st, 2022 at 12:10 AM ^
Most of the fans in that stadium won't be current students.

Walmart Hawkeyes!

... studying no doubt.

I will be there… first time at Iowa (only 6 BIG stadiums left to visit after this). Our 3 tickets came from an Iowa fan so thats a 6 fan swing towards the good guys…
I’m hoping the Blue pant mojo vs Iowa from Indy is still there.
October 1st, 2022 at 3:39 AM ^
That's pretty cool. Which stadium has been your favorite, and which 6 are left?
October 1st, 2022 at 10:46 AM ^
I liked Ross Ade in West Lafayette the best, mostly because we are undefeated in the games I went to, and the wife is an Alum.
I still need to hit Wiscy, Nebraska and Northwestern in the west and Penn State, Rutgers and Maryland in the east… I’d only need 2 if it weren’t for expansion.
I have also been to Notre Dame, and Memphis.
East Lansing is the worst, the fans are just atrocious there, had an Al Kessel twin try to fight me one year, a drunk sorority girl tried to push my pregnant wife another year and last year some jack wad challenged my 11 year old son to a fight. My worst experience with fans at any other stadium is still better than my best experience at Spartan stadium. I have only had people try to fight at Spartan stadium.
The net positive of last years experience was that all 3 of kids despise MSU and will for life.

Hope it looks like a Northwestern game in Kinnick tomorrow!
Well, there will be a lot of fans wearing yellow.
October 1st, 2022 at 8:18 AM ^
B1G Championship game was the same way...and they have Iowa the yellow rally towels (Michigan got blue).
I like the contrast...same with wearing as much maize and possible during a white out.
I don't know if it actually helps, but it can't hurt.

So jealous. Working tonight up the road but feeling some nostalgia of yesteryears and how I'd be going about tonight (or just no work and pretend to be 22). Debating driving down in the morning with the wife and kiddo to take the atmosphere in, maybe check out the BigNoon Kickoff Show set. Head back home for Kickoff. Setting up to be a gorgeous bleeping day.
Also...I see Barrel Aged Velet is on tap at Bit Grove. Highly recommend a pour. It isn't all world status but it's a tasty local barrel-aged vanilla stout
September 30th, 2022 at 11:56 PM ^
I'd make the drive if I had a chance to attend the game. But just to take in the pregame stuff, and then drive back in time for an 11:00 (local time) kickoff? Nah.
October 1st, 2022 at 12:52 AM ^
Yea I know. I'm only 20 minutes up the road, though. Won't be down in IC for any other game this year and its been a while since I've even been around some tailgate action, part of me says to go "enjoy the campus gameday morning".
October 1st, 2022 at 8:47 AM ^
I hope you're going to enjoy the campus game day morning! Only 20 minutes would be so worth it, and you won't miss a minute of the game. At worst, your DVR will let you fast forward through the first 97 commercials - so you probably won't even miss the opening kick!

Can’t wait to be at Kinnick tomorrow
October 1st, 2022 at 7:22 AM ^
Make sure to wave hard to those kids for us!
October 1st, 2022 at 2:40 AM ^
Checking in, reporting for duty, Let's Go Blue!
October 1st, 2022 at 7:29 AM ^
y’all be careful. i’ve been to a few B1G womens hoops tournaments and iowa fans have been, uniformly and literally without exception, complete assholes. “iowa nice” looked like a scam to me!
(mostly just stirring the pot here…but their WBB fans really were shitty assholes)
October 1st, 2022 at 8:20 AM ^
Then I’d assume if they get that worked up about basketball then football fans would be completely civil. Hopefully they’re all zombified from watching their offense. OSU fans take the cake for complete dbags with Wisconsin trailing in 2nd. Haven’t been to Iowa so can’t comment.
October 1st, 2022 at 10:43 AM ^
That’s too bad. I went to the game in 2016, after tailgating all day and thankfully had zero issues with their fans. Most of them were pretty laid back and willing to chat to a visiting fan.
October 1st, 2022 at 7:32 AM ^
There’s really only three things to do in that town.
- drink
- look at corn
- kick the everliving sh*t out of the hawkeyes and go home
October 1st, 2022 at 8:05 AM ^
Corn roast?
October 1st, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
The state of Iowa should've grabbed this kid as their official corn-bassador but South Dakota got there first.

But are they selling Michigan jerseys in Iowa City?
October 1st, 2022 at 8:11 AM ^
That would be a good start
October 1st, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
Sounds great. Hope to hear the Michigan crowd today on TV. Own it.
October 1st, 2022 at 8:06 AM ^
If there are 3k - 7k Michigan fans, most of them would have to go out to eat. Now add that it's in Iowa City, whose population is about half of the Kalamazoo metro area and closer to the population of a gameday inside Michigan Stadium. However, it's still awesome to hear that there is a strong showing of Wolverines there to support the team.
October 1st, 2022 at 8:17 AM ^
Bro, let’s be fair. There at least—at least—20 restaurants in Iowa City. They even have one of them Mexican places.
October 1st, 2022 at 8:51 AM ^
But it is authentic Mexican?
October 1st, 2022 at 10:04 AM ^
Well, they got them case-a-dillers
October 1st, 2022 at 10:23 AM ^
This will help a lot. Great to know there will be a lot of maize and blue in the stands and will leave Kinnick with a Meeechigan win!
October 1st, 2022 at 10:27 AM ^
Heard a ton of “Go Blue” here already.
October 1st, 2022 at 10:40 AM ^
Took a bus with friends to Iowa for the Speight injury game and the ride home was painful. I won’t go to Iowa again for a long time that place is voodoo.
October 1st, 2022 at 10:54 AM ^
They're overrun with maize. Never thought that would be possible in Iowa.
October 1st, 2022 at 11:25 AM ^
Crawling with (literal) wolverines? Because that would be cool too
October 1st, 2022 at 3:00 PM ^
I have never seen one of us crawl. I think you mean our presence is obvious and we are well represented as our fans descend on Iowa City.
October 2nd, 2022 at 1:26 PM ^
We were here! Has a blast!
