Is there any chance we are at risk of losing J.J. to the portal?
The Adrian Martinez news reminded me that we have a potential future star in the QB room who doesn't look to have a good shot at QB1 next year given Cade's development and consistency this year.
Are we at all worried he bails to somewhere he can get the starting job?
I hope not, and if this is a dumb board topic, i apologize. It's just that it's carousel season and BPONE never really dies, it just goes into remission, and stuff.

There is always a risk, and the new transfer rules are still uncharted territory. But, I think/hope he's staying. Every backup is one injury from being the starter, and we really need 2 top flight QBs at all times...3 is even better.

I think it’s more likely Cade ends up in the portal once JJ wins over the job. Could be as soon as next year but certainly would happen by 2023 given his talent.

Remember, he was all in and continuing to hold this year's class together during last year's "season" and the Harbaugh rumors. I seriously doubt he'd transfer after how much he sees his future with this team.

I was sitting field level at the Penn State game right by the Michigan entrance/exit to the field. At halftime JJ got to the corner first and then high-fived nearly every Michigan player on the team until the last one ran by. In my opimion, no way he enters the portal.

If Cade is not our starting QB next year I will be pissed. Job is closed as long as Cade is here and healthy, so yeah there's a chance.
Oh, and downvote away. Cade just beat OSU, he's been excellent for us and is just getting better, plus he's a proven leader. I'm good at QB, thanks.

Nonsense, the best QB should start, and there is a decent shot JJ does in fact pass Cade next year. This year is this year, next year is next year. No one is just given a starting spot forever based on one year, that is not how competition is supposed to work.

If they didn't both have freshman eligibility I think we could play JJ 50-50 with Cade and keep him happy until he could start. But that's not gonna happen
