Bye Week 2021 Plans
Well, its that time of year again. Michigan is 6-0, players can heal up from minor injuries, coaches can recruit and self-scout for the second half of the year, Seth can be a day late on the UFR, Brian can do a whole hoops and hockey podcast, and we can read Six Zero's epic from 2010

What's on everyone's calendar for the bye?

What's on everyone's calendar for the bye?
Wife day.
October 12th, 2021 at 1:33 PM ^
My wife has dismissed Wife Day as inconsequential, instead embracing the much more exploitable "Improvement Week."
The list is extensive.
October 12th, 2021 at 2:36 PM ^
Every day is wife day. Some wife days are just more wifey than others.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
Since I will have no wifely demands, it will involve large quantities of watching other teams play CFB and probably a beverage or two. Maybe three.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:55 PM ^
Is it presumptive to assume there might be a 4th beverage...?
October 12th, 2021 at 7:45 PM ^
Pretty weak match ups this Saturday though.

Personally, its finally going to feel like fall here in Chicago this weekend with highs in the upper 50s/low 60s, which means its time for fall beers.
This and napping is on the agenda
October 12th, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
Assuming they're still open (and that you've never seen them), I'd recommend Spiteful and Half Acre in Bowmanville. They're a few feet apart.
October 12th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
Fellow Chicagoan here. Napping with the window slightly open and a baseball game on at low volume in the background. Been there.
October 12th, 2021 at 2:45 PM ^
Rare fall beers, German food, and it benefits charity? Sounds like a huge win to me! Enjoy!
October 12th, 2021 at 11:11 AM ^
I'm playing a big band gig on Saturday afternoon at Shield's Pizza in Southfield- I'm filling in for a buddy of mine who wants to go see his grandkids. My wife is going to be gone all day playing an orchestra gig, so I'll probably practice the rest of the afternoon, since I've got a recital coming up in November, with about 55 minutes of music on it, and I need to keep cleaning up a few passages in the big concerto on the program.

Anyone who's not giving every ounce of their soul and being to figuring out how to bea(s)t OSU should be fired! That goes for fans, too! Everything that's circular, sibilant, or udder-shaped should be removed from our homes, the campus, and Schembechler Hall! Rinse, repeat.
Feel like I'm starting to do this right. . .
EDIT: Have the kid's last travel soccer matches of the fall in Kissimmee, FL, before the high school season begins. Will be some college coaches there, and she is pumped. Trying to be excited for her.
October 12th, 2021 at 2:20 PM ^
Good luck to you both!
October 12th, 2021 at 11:13 AM ^
Headed to the beach and some fun/games with the kiddos (12 & 9) in Destin.
October 12th, 2021 at 1:10 PM ^
Hit up Bud and Alleys or go to Dustys dive bar for oysters.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:13 AM ^
I'm working just like I do almost every Saturday.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:15 AM ^
Annual corn maze (maize) & pumpkin farm trip.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:25 AM ^
Daughter Day/weekend. We're going to NYC to visit our daughter who is a freshman in college.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:28 AM ^
Just tested positive for covid, so I suppose that's my excuse to isolate at home and watch football all day. Too bad the slate of games isn't all that enticing.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:28 AM ^
with 2 sons playing college football, it's not 'wife day' for us. we'll be in a stadium somewhere rooting our heads off.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:33 AM ^
Try to borrow my neighbor’s air compressor (huge Nebraska fan from Omaha) to blow out my sprinklers. I might be on my own this year ?
October 12th, 2021 at 11:33 AM ^
We do a Bye Week Biking (and Beers) get together here with the alumni club, basically just a fun, easy bike ride that starts and ends at a brewery.
Then just a relaxing afternoon, enjoying some college football and maybe catching some Disney fireworks in the evening.

My wife is having surgery on Friday. Wife day is taking a back seat to kids weekend while she recovers. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Please keep me in your thoughts in these trying times.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:39 AM ^
Kids, soccer, watching other CFB games and hoping for as many upsets as we can get!
October 12th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Very much a wife day for me. Beginning to turn our spare bedroom into a nursery for our baby boy on the way.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Congrats and good luck!
October 12th, 2021 at 11:42 AM ^
Michigan Hockey! I have longed for the hockey team to come to Duluth, and they're here this weekend. The bye week is perfectly timed, because attending hockey and cheering for Michigan with my family a mere 10 minutes from my home is the sports priority.
I am way, way excited for this.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
please post game pics. great weekend for hockey in duluth, doubly so with a team so seemingly talented. we're like 'bama, but without the cheating!
October 12th, 2021 at 12:44 PM ^
My brother has front row seats at Yost this season. I wish I knew how to post pictures to this site.
I’ll be celebrating my son’s 17th birthday this weekend. He’s off to college next year. It struck me that this will be his last birthday with us before he heads off into the real world. The boy is becoming a young man.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:47 AM ^
YMCA Indian guides camping trip with the boy! Hopefully fishing and hiking! Looks like decent weather.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
Every year I plan taking the boat, hoist and dock out of the lake on Michigan's bye. It won't be any different this year. I'm heading north.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
My 7 year old son has a pizza party for his football team. Should be an interesting time.
October 12th, 2021 at 11:56 AM ^
Friday night: Soak in my son's last regular season high school football game. Playoffs start next week in Wisconsin. I don't know if I can handle the playoff stress after not experiencing it last year.
Saturday: Escape up north. Fell a few dead trees on the property. Split lots of firewood. Eat a hearty dinner and catch a late college football game on TV.
Sunday: Rinse and repeat sans college football (no NFL for me these days).
October 12th, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
What's north for you?
October 12th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
Not Duluth! Rhinelander region of Wisconsin. I prefer the rugged beauty of Minnesota's arrowhead and the U.P., but northern WI is a compromise that allows me to experience solitude in the woods within a 3 hour drive of Madison WI.
October 12th, 2021 at 1:44 PM ^
That's a lovely area, I drive there occasionally when going to Crandon. It's not the UP or the Arrowhead, but it's still excellent.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
Heading to Arizona for a little trip with the in-laws.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
Going to the farmers market in the morning, lunch at our favorite hole in the wall place and then going to an arts festival. Getting a babysitter at night so I can finally have a date night with my wife.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
Wrapping up all the outdoor house chores before winter comes in. It'll be nice to have a free Saturday to take a break and get some stuff done. Maybe watch other CFB without having to be stressed about our own game
October 12th, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
Normally, watching games during the bye week has the added luxury of no stress. But this Saturday's slate of games is...woof.
In the B1G, with Michigan, Penn State and OSU off we have...
Army @ Wisconsin
MSU @ Indiana
Nebraska @ Minnesota
Purdue @ Iowa
Rutgers @ Northwestern
None of those games will tell us anything. And Penix is still most likely out for Indiana.
*The* game of the day will most likely be a surprising 6-0 Kentucky team playing at Georgia but I expect that game to probably be over in the 2nd quarter.
Really a snoozfest of schedule. If you're out and about, you won't be missing much.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Wife Day Plans: Fly to rural, Western New Mexico to hike on Saturday-Sunday. Drive to Albuquerque to pick up friends on Monday. AirBnB in Taos for the week. Hiking at 11k+ altitude. Hoping for snow in Taos, but clear skies in Western NM to see some stars.
October 12th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
Nice. Somewhat related, I got my first up-close look at Ship Rock a short time ago.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:27 PM ^
Temporary cryogenic freezing
October 12th, 2021 at 12:33 PM ^
The wifeday posts of yesteryear were some of my favorites. Shopping-bag-toting Denard one of the best pics ever. For this year (and reasons) I propose self-care day.
Be good to yourselves, whatever that means, and find the good in all you can.
Go Blue
October 12th, 2021 at 12:33 PM ^
We are going to a Chinese Cultural Festival in Mellon Park (Pittsburgh) in the afternoon for the wife and Paintball Zombie Assault at night for me.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:34 PM ^
Taking my sons to their first hockey game -- Kraken @ Blue Jackets baby, let's go Beejers!
October 12th, 2021 at 12:48 PM ^
Bye week is coming at a great time. Wife's 40th birthday party on Saturday, so just a full day of drinking in downtown Kzoo.
October 12th, 2021 at 12:54 PM ^
Stress-free college football viewing and maybe grading student work if I'm not too hung-over.
