Ticket buying advice for the MSU game this year
I applied for MSU road tickets this year and was denied. I'm looking on the various ticket websites and the cheapest ticket after fees I can find is about $250. I'm fine with paying that if I have to, but I'm curious - do you think tickets will drop the closer we get to the game? Is there a reasonable risk for the price to significantly rise the closer we get to the game?

$250 is very expensive. I am confident that ticket prices will drop closer to the game, especially if either MSU or U of M lose a game or two. Usually you can get decent U of M vs MSU tickets for the $150 range if you are willing to wait.

Agree. If MSU is 2-5 before the game, the fans will flake out like they normally do.

Sooo, just curious what your record was and would have been last year if you didn't hide from your last few opponents?
Oh, and you lost at home to the worst MSU team in my 39 years on this planet...so there's that.

Nice job turning, "prices will go down if one/both of the teams are bad," into a pissing match while on a rival's message board.

Was more a result of the OP acting like MSU routinely finishes below .500 and had fans flake.
Ill agree that the fans flake when the team sucks.

Thx for the insight

Fair enough. Pretty much all fans flake on losing teams.
I mean, you've got us since MSU won last year. I was planning to make a 3-9 joke, but checked Sparty's record first. Besides 2-5 (2020) and 3-9 (2017) and a pair of 4-8s, it's been since 1994 and Perles since a crappy season. Though if 2021 is bad, that's 3 of 5 years...

Huh? When did I say anything remotely close to this?

Trash post. not worth any comment beyond this

? @ izzy emma.
Not a good way to start out on a rival's blog. ??

Fair enough Rob, I took my lumps for that.
The best answer was provided in the thread already. Grab the mini-package that MSU offers which includes the UM and PSU game. If MSU isn't total garbage, you should be able to sell the PSU ticket for 70+ and you'll likely be spending under $100 on the UM game.

Usually you can get in for 100-150. Wait until MSU has a couple losses!

I just went on to the MSU athletic ticket site. You can purchase a Mini plan with tickets to the Michigan, PSU and Youngstown St game for 180 bucks.

Oh wow, thanks for looking out.

Keep in mind that if those prices are widely available then it means they’re not worth it (otherwise fans and resellers would have grabbed them all.)

Read that as "Minivan" which really makes that a good deal.

I’d wait it out. I’d think there is almost no risk of prices rising. Both teams are likely to struggle this year. If Michigan is bad this year nobody will want to “travel” to EL. The place sucks and Spartan fans are obnoxious.
My best friend has season tickets to Spartan Stadium and sometimes can’t unload his tickets for $1. Not joking. I would expect that you’ll be able to get tickets around $60 the week of the game.

I don’t miss many Michigan games but several in my group do. There have been a good many games in the last ten years that I couldn’t give away 2 on the 50 yard line for Michigan games.

Tickets prices almost always drop as you get closer to the game… especially in the last few days leading up to the game.

Looking into the future....
....tickets should be pretty cheap!

I was lonely that day, thanks for the memories!

Prices will by very likely drop. Hope you get good weather, MSU's campus is beautiful in the fall.

Seth, I think, had a good 'ticket watch' article about stubhub's increasing fees. Bad games will be overpriced, etc. If State sucks, secondary market prices may still be higher than you want to pay.
