Vegas for March Madness
What has become an annual tradition (minus last year) will be somewhat different this year. Anyone else heading to Vegas for the first weekend of March Madness?
Think we are going to hit up the new hotel Circa (owned by a Michigan alum) for the Friday games and then maybe just stay near the Bellagio the rest of the weekend. Anyone going to any big (COVID relative) events or know of anything special going on?
Circa is absolutely amazing as a sports book, but when I checked this past weekend, everything was pre-booked for Fri/Sat and Sunday 4-top had a $2500 minimum spend. Not sure about Stadium Swim, but for NBA playoff days, the pool was even more than inside.
3 years ago - Stayed at The D hotel on Fremont St. for the first weekend of the tourney.
Not the most luxurious of spots but fun as hell with a large contingent of UM, MSU supporters. Maybe the most fun I've had watching sports. Picture about 50 60"inch TVs in a large ballroom with about 3-4 different bar areas. Even a couple Red Wings players and announcers showed up.
Any chance that some bettors looked at the Wings players and said, 'nope, no luck at this table'? Cuz' that might be decent news for the Wings...
I’ve been at least 3 times for March Madness, was supposed to go last year. I decided to wait until next year when things are, hopefully, back to normal.
I'm gonna give it everything I've got,
Lady Luck's working, the dice stay hot,
Got coke up my nose to dry away the snot.
So viva, Las Vegas!
A tip from somebody who has done March Madness a few times in Vegas: Conference tournament Thurs-Sat is actually more fun that the first weekend of the tourney. They same amount, if not more basketball to bet on. Tons of good and exciting games. 10% of the crowds as this upcoming weekend, everything is cheaper, etc. My buddies and I have always had a blast watching conference tourney games/Players Championship Golf with all the room in the world in the sports book.
I have done the same and I 100% agree. Also have done sweet 16 weekend. Obviously not as many games but a lot of fun
I was hoping to go to the new Barstool place in Greektown. $100 per hour
Wife and I are going this weekend as well. First trip out to Vegas in some time but this weekend has been something I’ve wanted to do since we were younger. Planning to spend most of our time at the Sportsbook and casino with some nice food spots to break it up. Hopefully covid is little more than a distraction, but we are prepared to make the most of it regardless.
Dude fest during first two weeks of MM. Vegas for Kentucky Derby! Let us know the vibe and hot spots
If your at Circa, hit up Saginaw's Deli, opened by Paul Saginaw of Zingerman's fame. Top notch! A little bit of Ann Arbor in Vegas--in addition to Circa owner and Michigan grad Derek Stevens. Plus Victory Burger is from Michigan's beloved American Coney Island brother and sister. Lots of Michigan vibe at Circa.
Wife and I are going for a long weekend in May without the kids. Staying at the Venetian. Don't plan to leave the room, except to place a few sports related wagers.
We're driving down to see a friend who lives there on Sunday. By we, I mean my whole family. That means we are simply going to Vegas without the March Madness experience. We then head out Monday for trip to Palm Springs. Can't believe I will be in Vegas for the first weekend of March Madness, and I probably won't watch a game ...
Crazy, and sad...
I hate to be that guy, but wtf are people doing traveling around the country?
Im sorry but I just think it’s incredibly selfish and a terrible idea.
Neg away.

Over 100 million vaccine doses have been given out, and the act of traveling (whether by car or plane - plane a little worse than car obviously) hasn’t shown to be a significant covid spreader. Most of the extremely high risk population has been vaccinated. Plus anyone who got covid in the last few months has natural immunity, and now you’re looking at a significant chunk of the population. Not much of a difference in “selfishness” if you’re socially distancing in Nevada or California or Michigan.
It is believed you can still spread Covid even if you have been vaccinated.
But this pandemic has shown how selfish and ignorant Americans are.
So whatever.
that’s not believed, it just hasn’t been proven definitely that you don’t. Big difference. The lack of testing of something does not imply the opposite is true.
Circa looks great. Restaurants there look delicious. Would love some Saginaw's. :) Wish Victory Burger had Coneys.
Just scooped a couple of tickets, looks like the Michigan sections are 1-5.
We'll be in section 2 excited to go!
Edit- wrong thread whoops
