OT: Any tips for cord cutters to watch MBB games?
Apologies that this is not informative on CC or another hot topic, but I wanted to know the cord cutters are watching MBB games. There used to be Mgovideo which seemed to put up games pretty quickly but is no longer operating. HailTV has older MBB games and Victors Valiant focuses more on highlights. Looking for suggestions, thanks in advance.

Your only options would probably be YouTube TV, Sling and Hulu Live or other streaming services along those lines.
All have increased their monthly rates. I currently have YTTV and its close to $70 now. I plan on cancelling after college hoops season is over.

Hulu no longer carries CBS but there is a free CBS app that we use on Roku. No UM games have been on CBS yet but there have been other top ten matchups there.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:02 PM ^
And CBS is the network that carries March Madness.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:12 PM ^
Yeah, but you can stream March Madness for free.
January 6th, 2021 at 6:51 PM ^
Last year I streamed the in-season games for free too.
I had Hulu for 1 month and they raised the price $10/month. Garbage.
ATT TV has been solid so far but no BTN.

Along with TBS, TNT, and Tru in the earlier rounds.

I have Hulu Live and get CBS. Is this just certain locals? I’m in IL.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
Hulu actually just announced a deal yesterday with CBSViacom, so CBS should return there pretty soon, presumably before March Madness.
January 6th, 2021 at 3:47 PM ^
Hulu Live carries CBS. We have Hulu Live. We have it for sports. It is good.

Too many cord cutting conversations on this blog. I think YouTube, Sling, Hulu, and Fubo TV have been here taking notes. With the cost of the services and wifi, you might as well reconnect that cord.

I share my youtube tv account with a friend so I'm paying half which is still way cheaper than Comcast or Dish. not a bad option for families or people in the same area
January 6th, 2021 at 2:10 PM ^
As long as you don't mind committing federal crimes, this is a GREAT strategy.
January 6th, 2021 at 3:21 PM ^
youtube literally advertises it themselves so idk what you're talking about
January 6th, 2021 at 2:38 PM ^
Did you just add a local friend to your family sharing so they can come back to your house and log in periodically?
January 6th, 2021 at 3:24 PM ^
YTTV lets each person login with their own email / password. Basically 3 separate accounts. AT&T TV NOW allows 3 simultaneous streams, but all under one login.
January 6th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
My point is that YTTV has the family sharing plan, but it's supposed to be restricted to a co-located household. I have a friend who was letting his out-of-state brother use his account, but it locked him out do to the geofence. He had to log back in when he visited, but eventually got locked out again.
January 6th, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
Got it. I didn't have that issue with the friends I shared access with.
January 6th, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
Share with my two brothers. Each in different cities. I just spoof the gps on my phone every 3 months. It's crazy cheap split 3 ways.
January 6th, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
Hulu won't even allow you to have legit second locations. For example, I can't use the native Hulu tv app at home and at my cabin.
I can get around it by screen casting from my laptop to tv, though.
January 6th, 2021 at 9:54 PM ^
This. Find a neighbor, split it with neighbor, login as them a day or two a month for five minutes...profit.

I'm a cord cutter and have tried Tablo and am currently on Amazon Recast/ FireTV along with Netflix, Prime, Disney, and Hulu (non-live). Not sure why ldevon1 is getting negged. The live services are as, if not more, expensive than just getting cable and/or DirecTV. It was predicted that the unbundling would actually end up increasing costs and it is proving to be true. Unless you do a good job of cycling on and off services as you consume TV it will be more expensive and a PITA.
All that said, I don't miss cable and am going to ditch Hulu and eventually Disney. (My kids are watching all 31 seasons of the Simpsons and will be pissed.)
January 6th, 2021 at 3:09 PM ^
Because the truth hurts brother. I tried it, and I guess it depends on your area, but if you love sports just plain ole cable was the most cost efficient thing for me in Sterling Hts. I have everything I need for cheaper than CC.

Try looking around Reddit.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:01 PM ^
correct and to add, if you "stream" around Reddit, you might find something.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
This is the best streaming site I have found, but don't tell anybody. You only need to close one screen and hit play. I use it for football and basketball. Pretty good streaming quality. Only issue is that it is delayed 4-5 sec from broadcast so people text me when a big play happens and I'm a play behind, but well.
January 6th, 2021 at 12:54 PM ^
So basically you wanna see how much of your favorite team you can watch for fee....
January 6th, 2021 at 2:23 PM ^
No. I wanna watch them for no fee.
January 6th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
I pay for satellite which allows me to watch most games
January 6th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
Sportsurge.net
Goggle reddit college basketball streams
Make sure you have an ad blocker
January 6th, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
Reddit is where I go because every year there seems to be a game on cbs outdoor life or espn deportes that I can’t get.
Stream2watch is another that’s pretty consistent. It’s one of those sites that’s been up for years and yeah it has pop ups.
January 6th, 2021 at 4:49 PM ^
I'm in Toronto and with Rogers if you get the extended basic cable option and three of their sports packages you can watch *most* Michigan games on cable. But there'd always be one or two a season that I couldn't get (including the goddamn Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech). And this really is the vast majority of the cable we watch; my wife subscribes to Netflix anyway.
This is why I dropped Rogers completely when we moved a couple years ago. I'm paying a fortune and I still have to stream at least one game a year? Fuck no.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:56 PM ^
Sportsurge only has NBA basketball from what I've seen? I go to the reddit sub but a lot of those streams have gotten worse over the years. Not complaining, free is free
January 6th, 2021 at 2:50 PM ^
Buddha, sportsurge may not have direct links to college hoops games, but you can just choose one of the NBA games (or other sporting events listed there) and then follow the links to the various websites and navigate to their homepage/schedule page until you find the ones that stream college games. Then bookmark said websites homepages for future use.
January 6th, 2021 at 3:18 PM ^
Great idea, have done it before and a good tip to remember, thanks
January 6th, 2021 at 8:02 PM ^
Sportsurge is my goto now for this. The sites it links to are solid; you'll always find the game.
It's getting harder and harder to find good subs on reddit anymore for streams.
Alos, frontrowsports has become absolutely unusable.
January 6th, 2021 at 12:57 PM ^
You may choose to find someone in your network with an active cable package, and use their login information to access the streaming platform hosting the game (espn, btn, fox, cbs, nbc sports, nfl Redzone).
In addition, crackstreams and sportsurge may fill some gaps.
January 6th, 2021 at 2:25 PM ^
I use my buddy's login to watch BTN. Most years I pay half of his Sunday Ticket and watch that, too.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
I have been a cord subscriber for a long time so I've only been following this tangentially, but it seems like you're basically limited to Sling, YTTV, and Hulu Live, and all of those are pretty expensive at this point. I do know you can find various pirated streams if you click around Reddit/Google, though honestly I've found them to get pretty unstable if it's a big game and lots of people are watching. That said, they're free so that may be a worthwhile tradeoff.
I will say that when I did use YouTubeTV + Roku two years ago when moving between homes, I found it to be a decent experience. At $70 you're getting into cable package costs, but it was a perfectly acceptable experience provided you aren't looking to flip around a bunch of different games in quick succession (I found the lag to be a bit extreme).
January 6th, 2021 at 7:24 PM ^
I've used firesticks, Rokus, and have two nvidia shields. The premium devices have very little lag.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:22 PM ^
Ant Wright sometimes streams Michigan games on his twitter, if you don't want any of those internet TV packages.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
I'm in Cali and get Sling Blue with Sports for $40, which gets me the BTN. But if I need ESPN I just switch to Sling Orange at no cost (monthly cost goes to like $35), it maybe takes a day to do the switch at the most. I have an antennae for CBS but it's not the best, frankly. Also I split the sling with my sister so we each only pay half the rate.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
I have a stream thats called Clear. Over 3000 channels all sports packages and all movie channels for 20.00 a month for one log in. For multiple log in it goes up. You have to be added to a group on Facebook but I can let you know what its called. The picture is 4k and does not buffer at all.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:58 PM ^
Thanks for the offer
January 6th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
The golden age of cord cutting is over. It was a glorious time.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
It was always going to end. Long run it still will likely be a little cheaper because you have more options, but content providers with live sports have their own sort of a monopoly, and can extract pretty good prices from the streaming services, which in turn re passed to consumers.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:27 PM ^
A lot of times you can find a YouTube Channel streaming games
January 6th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Go to Radio Shack and get a top of the line antenna and 500ft of cable. Oh and 100 sq yards of aluminum foil
the rest is self explanatory
January 6th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
I joined MGoCrazy (a site made by a regular poster on mgoblog) and he will post a link to Michigan games on his site. He streams on Twitch which is safer than the reddit links. The Discord for the site is also fun during games.
January 6th, 2021 at 2:16 PM ^
