C'mon man. Ole Miss rewarding big defensive plays with money bags.
Unfortunately no photo, but Ole Miss just got an interception, and the player was rewarded with a novelty sized sack with dollar sign on it when he reached the sideline.
I know everyone is trying to copy Miami's turnover chain, but clearly Ole Miss is clearly not trying to hide their corruption with their knock off.
September 26th, 2020 at 12:46 PM ^
I just posted bout this in the game day thread .
They have no use for subtlety .
Why hide whats obvious eh ?
September 26th, 2020 at 12:48 PM ^
I mean, when you hire Lane Kiffin, you're basically telling the world your intentions
September 26th, 2020 at 12:51 PM ^
Exactly !
September 26th, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
I somehow respect a school that hires Lane Kiffin and hands out "pretend bags of money" to its defensive players that make a great play. I don't agree with it...but I respect it. They aren't hiding what most do behind closed doors. Again...stupid...moronic...but I respect the blatant balls of it all.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:08 PM ^
Another thing I notice, they keep mentioning DJ Durkin as D coordinator and no mention of Partridge as Co coordinator. I thought that was the carrot that sealed the deal to Ole Miss?
September 26th, 2020 at 1:59 PM ^
Otis Reese will feel safe and well cared for under this coaching regime.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:32 PM ^
Isn't that where Partridge went?
Hmmm
September 26th, 2020 at 12:47 PM ^
I saw that too!
It's hilarious!
September 26th, 2020 at 2:16 PM ^
It doesn’t mean what everyone here seems to believe. Securing the bag is a very big saying in my (black) cultural. I highly doubt the coaches came up with it, this was a players thing I guarantee you that. You can use the phrase “secure the bay” “get the bag” in any form, people use it playing video games to sports to hustling on the corner or simply just going to work.
September 26th, 2020 at 12:52 PM ^
I mean, they hired Kiffin and DJ Durkin -- this totally makes sense!
September 26th, 2020 at 2:11 PM ^
And Partridge. I know he’s ours, but he recruited way over his league. There’s a reason for that.
September 26th, 2020 at 4:22 PM ^
Partridge used his connections to the high school circuit in New Jersey to make a name for himself as a recruiter. After that it’s all about effort, as a younger coach trying to prove himself the effort is expected to be there.
I don’t really see anything suspicious about Partridge’s recruiting successes. No more than any other young stud recruiter.
September 26th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
? ? ?
It just means more
September 26th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
Didn't what's-his-name hand out hundred dollar bills to players after a bowl game? The Chicago receiver who posted Twitter photos of him getting a ton of money on a recruiting trip there?
September 26th, 2020 at 1:24 PM ^
I think you are thinking of Odell Beckham Jr after the National Championship game against Clemson. Although maybe Laqoun Treadwell also did it.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
What a trash program
September 26th, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
This is why the NCAA needs to open the floodgates and just allow players to be get paid. Too many programs are blatantly doing it that it punishes the schools who aren't and we have more fucking money than anyone so let's go.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:05 PM ^
I thought it was great....
September 26th, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
I think logic here is that they think if you put it out in the open and make a joke of it, then it somehow makes people not think they pay their players?
September 26th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
The old hiding in plain site trick eh?
September 26th, 2020 at 2:16 PM ^
It worked for Walter White, until it didn’t
September 26th, 2020 at 1:10 PM ^
Classic Lane troll
September 26th, 2020 at 1:11 PM ^
Turnover chain is lame as shit, this might be a funny parody if it were done by a clean program. Since it’s ole miss, this is just ridiculous and in bad taste
September 26th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
I think the turnover chain is lame, but I'm also not an 18 year old recruit, and they seem to love it.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
Otis Reese can't wait!!!
September 26th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
Anybody check actual contents of the bag?
September 26th, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
It was actually a bag of dicks.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:26 PM ^
What's a little money — or a lot of it — among friends?
September 26th, 2020 at 1:29 PM ^
Wish Michigan had hired Mullen. No way they can get him out of Florida now.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:33 PM ^
If he doesn’t start beating Georgia soon-a tough task-he will be on the move.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:44 PM ^
Is he really better than Harbaugh if he's at Michigan?
It doesn't feel like much of an upgrade.
If you don't have Saban, Swinney, Meyer or Riley...that next group is pretty murky. There are 4 elite coaches and one is on Fox's CFB show.
Kirby Smart has produced, but that's in one of the most talent rich states in the country and with the "benefits" of being at Georgia and in the SEC. But is he truly a better COACH if he's at Michigan?
Mullen, similar, though I think he's a better fit at Michigan than Smart.
Chris Petersen used to be in this group. But I think Harbaugh is in it as well. And probably Day. Maybe Brian Kelly.
Then you have a 3rd tier with the David Shaw's, the Gary Patterson's and James Franklin's. Coach O. Maybe Kelly fits better here.
The point is...if you don't have one of the big 4, you're not going to be satisfied with your coach. But truthfully, how many guys are DEFINITIVELY better?
September 26th, 2020 at 2:20 PM ^
Fair enough. I do feel like Michigan is basically in no man’s land with Harbaugh. The odds are much better that a new coach tanks the program instead of finally getting Michigan into truly elite territory. Just frustrating that Michigan is heading into year 6 and has a project at starting QB. Would love to see Michigan go on the road in make a statement in the first game at Minnesota but I am not holding my breath.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:39 PM ^
Michigan is in no man's land unless they change the culture of the program. To football factory or not to football factory is the question. Harbaugh is not beyond reproach, but is essentially as good as we'll get if you want to run a relatively clean program.
September 26th, 2020 at 7:30 PM ^
This comment would make sense if we hadn't beaten Florida in 2015 and 2017 then gotten our asses handed to us by them a year later. What changed about our program culture in a year vs theirs?
September 27th, 2020 at 10:03 PM ^
Project?! Have you read the Detroit papers? Joe Milton is Cam roethlisbrady.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:43 PM ^
Ole Miss has elevated bag to an art.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:45 PM ^
Tradition.
September 26th, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
I think it's great. Obviously, im sure there's other examples of bad institutional decisions at Ole Miss (hiring Durkin), but good for them paying those guys. Let them get their money!
September 26th, 2020 at 2:11 PM ^
They have Durkin, but don't forget Ole Miss has Partridge AND Devin Bush, Sr. as well.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:01 PM ^
Kyle Pitts dude on Fla lookin’ solid.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:09 PM ^
Sticking to their core values.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:12 PM ^
Ole Miss plus Lane Kiffin was always likely to be a gross combination. That is not a guy who I would want my son to play for.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:19 PM ^
It’s funny. A money bag can almost be a metaphor for anything.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:22 PM ^
I will say, it is difficult to beat brazen honesty. If nothing else, they certainly aren't afraid of just saying it now. I guess it is almost respectable in some warped, twisted way.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:24 PM ^
Honestly, schools should just hand out bonuses to guys for good plays legitimately. Might as well reward success.
September 26th, 2020 at 2:27 PM ^
Lighten up Frances, I think it's funny...
September 26th, 2020 at 2:55 PM ^
Next two strippers come out of the tunnel after a player gets a turnover and they go back to the locker room
September 26th, 2020 at 3:20 PM ^
Huge middle finger to the NCAA. Lane Kiffin essentially telling them “Yeah we pay our players. Fuck you, what are you gonna do about it?”
September 26th, 2020 at 3:32 PM ^
Assuming that it doesn't literally contain money (Kiffin probably isn't that dumb), I think it's kind of funny.
