OT: thoughts on The Batman trailer?
I'm willing to give Robert Pattinson a shot here, if this is any indication of what's to come:

Paul Dano as The Riddler is a killer casting stroke.

Pretty pumped. Not too sure on the suit and the car but it looks like an origin story?
6 villains looks good to me!

Looks good. I think Pattinson will be a fine Batman. He's got that natural mystery and subtlety. I do wish he'd put on a few more pounds of muscle for the role, but eh, it's fine. Riddler is a good choice for villiain. Very underutilized in Batman films. (No, Batman Forever will never count. Sorry Jim.)

I’m not much of a Pattinson fan but looks decent. I’ll give it a shot

Have you seen "Good Time"?
If you were on the fence about Pattinson, I'd be shocked if that movie didn't change your mind.
(only because I'm highly skeptical of how often superhero movies can really test an actors range/ability)

I mean, Heath Ledger
August 23rd, 2020 at 5:15 PM ^
‘Good Time’ was a really good movie! Pattinson was also great along with Willem DaFoe in ‘The Lighthouse’...terrific actor! Forget Twilight people. That was a while ago now ?.

Thanks. How did you do that? I can only post links, not i-frames.

Hit the source button, and use this code -

hit source again and then save

Test failed

Some operating systems don't let you do it. I used to be able to, but after the update, I can no longer do it.

I'll be Goddamned. It worked. My years of non-visual comments are now in the rear-view mirror.

Looks awesome. Liked the brutality of the fight scene. Jeffrey Wright is also a great choice for Gordon. Casting in general seems really good.
August 23rd, 2020 at 2:13 AM ^
Not judging at all, why does a fight scene being brutal make it more interesting? That is such a foreign concept to me, I’m trying to understand what makes it more interesting or enjoyable to watch?
August 23rd, 2020 at 7:51 AM ^
Feels more authentic. Gritty and dark
August 23rd, 2020 at 8:24 AM ^
Because it is symbolic of how we feel about not being able to watch Michigan play football this Fall.
August 23rd, 2020 at 9:00 AM ^
Not necessarily more enjoyable to watch, just portrays a different tone. Nolan’s Batman would not have gone in for those last few punches and probably killed very few people (as Batman). This looks like it will be quite different.
August 23rd, 2020 at 10:29 AM ^
Thank you for responding. That is a great explanation and I appreciate that differentiation.
August 23rd, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
Since at least 1966 Batman’s “violence” on screen has not matched the tone or the impact of the violence in the comics or video games.
I’m one of those people that wants to be made to believe this character can throw down so visciously that he can defeat supervillains without slinging webs, traveling time, or flying. I want more than that from the character of course. But it’s at least a start if I know he can fight. We’ve seen too many movie versions that don’t seem to be able to handle themselves against even a few henchmen. Resorting instead to total campy gimmicks or just bailing with grappling hooks.
August 22nd, 2020 at 10:56 PM ^
It looks good. But honestly, there’s only been one bad initial take on Batman in the last 70 years and that was Batman V Superman. Every other new take has been good, at least at the start, including the cartoons.

As an aside, I was an extra in that movie. Just one scene, where Bruce Wayne meets Diana Prince at the black-tie event and accuses her of stealing whatever it was he stole first. I was one of 200+ people in the background at the Detroit Public Library Main branch, drinking apple juice from champagne glasses.
So the failure of that film can be directly linked to me. I guess I didn't drink my apple juice convincingly.
August 23rd, 2020 at 7:45 AM ^
You were fine with the apple juice. The problem was the Ronald McDonald costume you were wearing trying to upstage the Joker.
Good for you on being an extra. I intended to try to be an extra in The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh, but had to work or go to school that day so I missed out.
August 23rd, 2020 at 10:54 AM ^
You were right about the Ronald McDonald costume. Next time I'll go with my Brady Hoke outfit.
It was actually fun, in spite of being one hell of a long day (5:30 am until about 9:00 pm). The biggest memories were:
- They provided breakfast and lunch, and snacks all day long, and the food was pretty good. But one warning I heard several times: Never, EVER take food off the crew's snack table. You'll lose a hand, or worse.
- Most of the day is sitting around and waiting. Bring a book, magazine, crossword puzzle, whatever. But NO PHONES. Anyone taking any pictures of anything will be fired immediately and escorted off the site. (We heard that warning several times, too. When it comes to publicity, Warner Bros. doesn't play.)
- Some of those extras were the best-looking people I have ever seen face-to-face - just as pretty as any movie actor / actress. (BTW, Gal Gadot is just as gorgeous in person as on screen - but man, was she skinny. She bulked up considerably for "Wonder Woman.")

Batman v Superman was unfairly panned. Superman is the original and still ultimate super hero.
August 22nd, 2020 at 11:00 PM ^
Paul Dano can carry a movie on his own, just great at his craft.
The trailer is dark both literally and figuratively so it definitely gets points for continuing in the same mold as recent iterations. I just wasn’t a fan of the cartoony Mr. Freeze movie. Overall the trailer has me wanting to go see it.
August 23rd, 2020 at 6:20 AM ^
Is this Paul Dano? I recognized the face, but couldn't name anything he's been in.
August 23rd, 2020 at 7:48 AM ^
Dano is playing the Riddler in this.

I thought the Batman trailer looked good! The Snyder Cut of Justice League trailer piqued my interest too.
August 23rd, 2020 at 12:28 AM ^
Havent seen it, dont plan to see the movie because of Pattinson .
Just cant see him in the role .
Christian Bale was just the best IMO
August 23rd, 2020 at 2:35 AM ^
August 24th, 2020 at 11:55 AM ^
I sort of thought the same thing...Bale was excellent had the hard edgy "dark past" look needed for the part.
August 23rd, 2020 at 12:32 AM ^
Feels too soon after the last one...they still show Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises on TV every day.
Plus all of the not so great DC movies Batman is in (Ben Affleck).
Hope it's good, but looked kind of lame to me.
Tired of Batman and Spider-Man remakes, there have to be other options to expand on.
August 23rd, 2020 at 10:18 AM ^
There’s already a Suicide Squad reboot coming out next year. X Men will get rebooted too, now that Disney owns the rights and will want to bring them into the MCU
August 23rd, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
Get ready for Flash. Hollywood low on novel ideas.
August 23rd, 2020 at 10:58 AM ^
But the new Spider-man movies are good!

I want an x-rated Lobo movie.

Groo the Wanderer is just waiting for someone to make into a franchise. Hard to believe someone hasn't done it already.
August 23rd, 2020 at 12:34 AM ^
I think it's a shame they would put a trailer hitch on the Batmobile.
Wait what? Oh I see. Never mind.
August 23rd, 2020 at 12:40 AM ^
“I am vengeance!”
That is all....
August 23rd, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
Is that an Easter egg to Kevin Conroy? Does he go on to say, “...I am the night! I AM BATMAN!” ?
could be really cool if there are well-made Easter eggs to many good versions of Batman in this movie.
August 23rd, 2020 at 12:48 AM ^
I'm looking forward to seeing these actors in it but haven't we had enough origin stories? If that's what this is, anyway.
August 23rd, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
Rumor has it that Bruce Wayne's parents get offed as well as Uncle Ben
