Congrats, i bought the Emeril Legasse pressure cooker/air fryer a couple of months ago, pressure cooker is awesome but the air fryer is cumbersome.
I plan on eventually buying the XL Turbo air fryer that looks like a toaster oven...happy cooking everyone!
Doesn't that thing cost the same as a high end oven?
$180 wirh shipping, that's because I bought the 8 qt. One and the air frying apparatus, the 6 qt. one without the air fryer part would have been around $120-130 with shipping I believe.
...do people just have air fryers because they can't afford high end ovens?
Not sure but it is less expensive than a high end oven, it's quicker and easier, so maybe?
Quicker and easier seem like real reasons. I am just wondering, because while I've never really been tempted to buy one of these things, if they are in fact superior to all other appliances for doing a particular thing, maybe I should be tempted. But if they're just cheaper, eh.
What the hell happened to Emeril Lagasse? He was on top of the cooking world then fell off to infomercial obscurity. I'm not much of a cook but I did like his show.
I know nothing about his life, but he looks terrible also -- like maybe he's deep in the throes of alcoholism or some other addiction. I realize my speculation is irresponsible and Emeril may read this blog. Emeril, if you're reading this, GET HELP! GoBlue96 and I are fans and we need you healthy and cooking good Cajun food. Bam!
Y'all trippin'.
He sold his brand to Martha Stewart for $50,000,000 and peaced the fuck out. He also got millions from the state of Florida for his Florida show, in a somewhat shady deal. The guy runs his restaurants now, to the extent that they can stay in business despite downturns in his usual market segment.
He's just getting old. Give the guy a break.
I think he overextended himself. He has restaurants in three or four states plus cooking shows plus maybe a dozen cookbooks. After a certain point it gets hard to maintain quality or keep people interested.
(Even harder if he has health or addiction issues, as Marvin suggested, but I have no clue.)
Cauliflower and zucchini.
Concur.. carrots and Brussel sprouts also great.
and potatoes—cut in little chunks. Perfect crispness
Thank God, now I can stop refreshing the page
You’re welcome.
Pizza rolls at 400 degrees for 8 or 9 mins come out perfect!!!
Good work! Really nice to have...much better than a bread maker.
Mind sharing your recipe for the wings? Were they fresh or frozen?
Please allow me to intervene as I've been working on wings for awhile in the air fryer.
Always thaw out and dry as best you can. Also, if you can trim them up so the egregious fat parts that normally burn or get hard are gone, I think that improves the end product.
Next, I dry rub liberally. I use salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne, whatever you like.
Spread out and fry on 300 for 15 minutes. Shake and put back in on 390 for 10 minutes.
Spin in your favorite sauce, then put under broiler until the sauce starts to char. Put them back in the leftover sauce, spin again, and eat the best non fat fried wing you've ever had.
You can do better... Try some Kosmos Q dry rub, specifically the Honey Killer Bee flavor (but almost any will work), in place of the ad hoc collection of stuff you see laying around the cupboard. You may think that the (relatively) high cost of a pre-made dry rub isn't worth it, but just give it a try...
Another thing that makes wings taste better - smoke. If you have access to a smoker, you'll experience even better wings. If nothing else, go out on your deck with a foil pan, some wood chips (available at any grill display), a rack to put the wings on over the chips, and enough foil to cover everything. Smoke for at least 30 minutes, then finish them in your air fryer.
Go to store. Buy wings. Cook.
We are constantly using ours. The kids love chicken nuggets in the air fryer. I love that it doesn't heat up the entire kitchen like the stove does.
I put mine on the deck in the summer. Does not heat the house up at all.
So you baked chicken wings... cool
I can’t count how many times I’ve put wings in the oven and they’ve never turned out as crispy and juicy as they did in an air fryer so whatever it does, it does it much better than a conventional oven.
Do French fries next. Fresh, not frozen.
If they turn out ok I'm buying one. I love homemade fries and they're hard to get right in the oven.
Had to get rid of my real deep fryer about 10 years ago when it started to make me (and more importantly, my wife) fat.
I do country fries sometimes in the air fryer and they turn out excellent. I quarter mini creamer potatoes (the ones from Costco) and spin them in olive oil and cajun seasoning before I throw them in. They come out crispy and delicious.
You need to buy one, works great for take out fries especially...pop em in the air fryer and good as new in minutes
Make sure you do Brussels sprouts.
Asparagus turns out awesome as well.
If it can make Brussel sprouts edible it truly is a miracle machine!!!
Happy to confirm that air fried bacon is delicious.
If you want a good air fryer recipe, try TexMex Egg Rolls! They're fantastic.

I have the "Power Air Fryer XL" and use it daily. Pizza rolls, the mozzarella sticks from Sam's Club, chicken wings.... not to mention all the adult food lol
Ninja is fantastic. We use ours constantly.
My wife and I've been making breaded boneless wings in our air fryer. Even bought some racks to help space them out and get more done at once. typical fried chicken breading, spritz with oil 10 minutes at 370, then flip them all, spritz with oil and 10 more minutes at 370. Come out crispy and delicious.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but those are chicken nuggets.
You say pop, I say soda. Either way they're delicious
Can't disagree there. Except that I don't say pop (or soda... It's all coke down here)
My wife walked out to my office (a month or so ago) with a plate of wings that she made in some "air fryer" that she recently purchased. She talked about it for 3 minutes while holding the plate. Not sure what she said. She left. My fat a** attacked them. A dozen gone, maybe 10 minutes later
Told her an hour later "those were the most crisp, and amazing wings I've ever had".
While my compliments were based in part on getting a the potential for a fancy kiss later in the night, the wings were AMAZING.
I know there's a place for fatty, slimy, wet wings (yes, I love those too). But any device that sucked the slop out of a wing, makes them crisp (and salty), and allows my wife to think she made me something healthy, is my kind of device.
Viva la' Air fryer...or whatever it's called.
I hear they work best on granite counter tops.
I have quartz countertops and it works fine.
A little FYI for anyone that doesn't know, quartz counter tops are 93% granite and 7% quartz, I'm in the construction industry and I've always made it a point to ask distributors and manufacturers about material make up.
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle. G I JOE!!!
I make air fryer wings several times per week. I’d like to think I’ve learned a few things along the way. It was said above, but drying the wings is essential. Also, I can’t overstate the importance of putting a little baking powder in the seasoning mix. It crisps the skin better. The difference is noticeable.
My wing seasoning:
1 part salt
1 part onion powder
0.5 part Ground black pepper
0.5 part garlic powder
1 part baking powder
I don’t have an air fryer, but am a (reasonably) accomplished cook of a variety of persuasions. If you’re after crispy wings, parboiling followed by convection oven makes a very, very good, I’d swear it’s deep fried, wing (and more healthy even than air fried). Just watch them carefully, they go from golden to overdone very fast:

GTFO with boiling
I bet it works well for green tomatoes and okra too!
air jordan is in my closet
If you have a rotisserie attachment you won't regret air frying cornish hens!
