Risk Day 36 - YOOOOO!!!!! Last Night Was Just ABSURD (In The BEST Possible Way)
What. A. Roll. Last night was the kind of night you DREAM about in this game. We were able to keep our foothold in Texas and we gained more territories in the northeast. More importantly, though, we EVICTED Ohio State from the west. BAM! This is HUGE. We no longer have to chase the second most powerful team around the west coast, which means we can focus most of our power on attacking. So much more fun!
Of course, this amazing roll would not have been possible without our new best friend, Nebraska. Because of Nebraska, we were able to reduce Ohio State's presence to just the southwest, instead of having them harass us up and down the west coast. We still had to get very lucky, but with Nebraska's help and excellent resource allocation by our mods, we got the job done!
Speaking of excellent resource allocation....the mods did a phenomenal job of spreading our power in the most efficient and effective way possible. Despite having to worry about 10 different territories (that's how many OSU controlled or bordered in the west), we were underdogs in just three territories, and only modest underdogs at that (our worst odds were better than 1:2). That is some fantastic anticipation and game planning by our guys, and it shows just how crucial it is for all of us to get our assignments from MichiganCFBRisk.com.
So, with that said.....LET'S GOOOOOOO!!!! We had an insane roll last night, but we still have 15 turns left. Ohio State is only 3 moves away from Washington (through Alaska), Texas A&M is at our border, and Chaos is lurking just outside of Hawaii. We're in GREAT position, but we need to keep it going. Keep playing every day and know that your consistent play has put us into position to win the whole. damn. thing. But ONLY if you keep it up! Now get your assignments and Go Blue!

Sorry thought I was on google.
Why does you tooth* hurt?
Well, meth is a hell of a drug. That’s why.

Of our game-high 27 territories, 11 are semi-protected (5 completely protected and 6 that border Nebraska or GT). That will help boost our star power as we don't have to spend many resources to defend those territories. Yeah!

Any insight into what we can expect from Alabama now that we're next to them?
April 27th, 2020 at 11:47 AM ^
There is like a 1000% chance that GT will use Hawaii and SDSU to fuck us to win the game
April 27th, 2020 at 12:13 PM ^
Maybe even higher
I mean, they're 1/2 our power. If they try the odds are we destroy them. They are better off taking territory from alabama/tennessee than picking a side, at least right now.
It isn't going to happen in the next turn, but GT is second in total territories, Michigan is first, if GT sees Michigan battling the second and third strongest armies with five turns to go they know they could pretty easily take 3 to four territories in california without much risk of Michigan being able to push all the way back into Florida.
Our agreement with GT is they get Hawaii and we get SDSU. They are in SDSU right now because of their problems with chaos. (Look at Miami). In the next 2 moves the status quo on H and SDSU should be restored.
The problem with that is, Hawaii is strategically more important to us than them. I'd explain why, but the mods would probably admonish me.
I'd like to hear the explanation. I think Hawaii is equally important to both sides. It links to one territory in FL (Miami) and one in CA (SDSU). Those territories, in turn, connect to 2 new territories.
If you're saying that H/SDSU is more beneficial to them than M/H would be that's true, but iit isn't the agreement.

Sad we have to get excited about an internet game

Is Alabama just content defending the entire state of Alabama for the next 15 days? Seems like an Alabama thing to do.

This popped up on my page when I updated it late last night.
Ughh...can’t get the image to load. It’s a big middle finger to the RNG roll. Not sure if anyone else had seen the image.

That shows up between 11:00pm and 11:01pm. It's to prevent people from all spamming the website while it's working on the roll. Makes it a much quicker process.

Makes sense, thanks for the explanation.

Admittedly a small quibble, but has anyone addressed why MN, MO and WI are one territory for the whole state, while states like AR, MS, WV have multiple territories? Is it based on recruiting population density?
April 27th, 2020 at 12:20 PM ^
Those states probably only have one FBS football team whereas the others have multiple.
This is the correct answer. MN, MO, and WI have the University of "state name" and no other FBS program. Other single FBS school states include CT, HI, ID, NE, NJ, WY.
AK, DE, ME, MT, ND, NH, RI, SD, and VT don't have FBS programs, so those are covered by the nearest FBS programs in neighboring states.
WV has WVU and Marshall; AR has U Arkansas and Ark State; MS has Ole Miss, Miss State, and Southern Miss.
The map appears to be based upon the nearest FBS school to each county, except that you automatically get all of the territory to the state line, except for the UP, which should be part of CMU's territory but is tacked onto Wisconsin.
That's how MN and WI get their entire state, even though northwestern Wisconsin is closer to Minneapolis than it is to Madison. It's also why the Dakotas get split between nearly D-I schools.

I get my fourth star today! I'll be twice as powerful tomorrow.
I got my 4th a couple rounds ago. I feel at least twice as powerful, even more powerful than bleach!

Was the Alaska move planned? Just wondering if it was part of the alliance plan to shift that to a Nebraska territory.
Good Q. I'm not part of the discord, but it makes sense since now both UM and Neb can defend BC (Maine). We've gotten lucky the last X turns to keep hitting with ~75% odds to defend it. IF they add forcers, we're closer to 80/90%, and if they manage to take it, then then can add firepower to attacking Syracuse, Army, and UMass.
So you're saying having our allies attack us in certain spots lowers the chance that OSU gets a territory
I think we should always be attacking allies, and vice versa. Use one or two 1 star(s) from each team. Someone will get a MVP point and almost always boost them to a stable 2 star. Repeat over and over. Fast way to gain stars and, show immediate progress for a newer player.
April 27th, 2020 at 12:39 PM ^
Just got my 3rd star today. 25 consecutive rolls, 25 this game, and 25 across all games. Kinda hooked.
Anyone else's move not get put in yesterday? I know I put my move in but it's showing that my streak is back down to 0 and I dropped from 4 to 1 stars.
Major bummer. I always reload the page after clicking on the school's logo to make sure that the move has registered.
Same thing happened to me over the weekend.
After the snafu with moves not being recorded (and streaks being lost), I tend to check throughout the day that my move is still registered, and especially in the 10:00 hour.
yeah, me.... but i went from 1 star back to 1 star, but lost my streak
ohio state risk people must be very not happy right now.
Ayyye
Looks like red teams are better.
The last paragraph read like one of these public health bittys begging people to stay home and social distance.
So what happens if we sign up for Ohio State, get assignment, do something completely asinine instead. Does it work like that? That sounds way more fun.
I don't think you understand or have played the game. That isn't possible. Pretty much every action you could take is beneficial for the team you're on.
Got it. Yeah, CFB risk is way outside my lane. Thanks, you should be promoted to at least 7.0.7 by now.
It will be interesting to see what OSU does now. Are they going to aim all of their firepower at us or will they start to attack Wisconsin (their ally) or Georgia Tech?
I think it will be tough for them to win just by fighting us since we knocked them out of the west. Definitely want to keep them bottled up on the east coast.
