Help is On the Way! Stimulus Bill!
Help is on the way for those of us that qualify. If you make under 75k or 150k as a couple, you will be getting 1,200 single or 2,400 a couple. Additionally $500 per child. This is huge news and should really help out people struggling pay check to pay check (which is about half of population) Thank you to President Trump and all members of Congress who voted in favor of this. Checks expected in May. Hang in there everyone ??

You forgot to add the part that individuals who make between 75-99K, doubled for couples, also are eligible for some kind of lesser payment.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:31 AM ^
I didn’t see that. That would be good though. People making less should get more. I’m glad to see that focus.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:59 AM ^
This bill is outright socialism. I'm glad to see your side embrace it.
Although, somehow I bet you were against the bailouts and deficit spending from 2008-2016.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:12 PM ^
You seem to forget that they only like socialism when it benefits them or when a Republican does it
March 25th, 2020 at 12:15 PM ^
I don’t have a “side” I’m for common sense. Keep talking, your shit don’t phase me!
March 25th, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
If you didn’t have a side, why did you single out Trump in your original post. If you want to be seen as non-partisan, you have to act it, not just say it.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
Uh, because he’s our president.
I support people when they do good things. I believe he’s doing a good job. I didn’t realize this place was infested with ANTIFA.
The president doesn’t pass bills. He just signs them. This hasn’t been signed yet, so not clear why you are thanking him.’
But thanks for the ANTIFA reference to prove my point.
Love a good ole' antifa insult insinuating it's bad to be anti-fascism
LMAO, if I named my gang filled with thugs anti-nazi's or anti-evil it doesn't make them good people, its just a name. Everytime I see an Antifa rally there is more violence/chaos than any other political group. You could say the far right is anti-commie it doesn't mean they are any better or any worse than the left or anyone else. A name is just that, a name. I am a moderate and both sides can suck it right now. The right for pushing for everything to return to normal in the name of capitalism over doctors orders and the left just wants to add ridiculous pork to any sort of corona relief bill that is put forward. so left or right can suck it. I just want someone to do the right thing for America and right now thats not Democrats or Republicans... Unless your actually in politics the only side you should take is your own.
You're an idiot, Mineral King.
He's doing the best job, biggest things, tremendous numbers really. We've never seen anything like it. The biggest, best, tremendous job. Never seen numbers like this. He's so rich, could have been a doctor - stable genius.
Many people are saying it...biggest, best, tremendous numbers. Many people, biggest numbers, best numbers.
Beautiful numbers...
Perfect numbers. Perfect like the call with Ukraine.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
He also thanked all members of Congress that voted for it, but I get it....Orange Man bad!!!
Well when someone sets your house on fire, but then wants credit for calling the fire department after waiting two hours...
The guy in the White House is like the guy who murders his parents, then pleads for mercy in front of the court because he's now an orphan.
No, you clearly don't "get it".
March 25th, 2020 at 12:23 PM ^
Guys, we can do more! let’s turn Mike Bloomberg, Soros and the Koch Brothers into millionaires!
March 25th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
What's the alternative? I'm serious...
And just because he mentions trump are you assuming only conservatives and Republicans want this bill to pass?
2 different things but you know that. One because of crappy business practices. The other a pandemic. You already knew that though strawman
"poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids."

A one-time payment of $1200 in May is a band-aid for a cannonball wound.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
So can I have your band aid? If you qualify, if you don’t then stfu.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:38 AM ^
Sure! I'll just need your social security and bank account numbers to verify your identity, and then I'll send it right over.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:57 AM ^
I’ll get mine to you in a few days, after the Nigerian Price who is going to give me $10 million, is done using them.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:07 PM ^
Rashida Tlaib, who I'm not a huge fan of, had the best idea so far. Everyone gets a debit card with $2,000 on it, and it gets reloaded $1,000 per month. She suggested that continue for a year after the crisis has passed, which seems excessive, but I think that continuing payments until a vaccine is available would be reasonable.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:23 PM ^
This is all Andrew Yang's idea actually!
March 25th, 2020 at 12:29 PM ^
No one’s an atheist in a fox hole and everyone’s a socialist in an economic crisis.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
Not true on part 1. Ever hear of Pat Tillman?
You seem like a chill dude...
When farmers and businesses get their regular checks, it's called a subsidy and stimulus. When a welder with 3 kids gets it, it's socialism.
Good to see those in need get what they need. Here's hoping that the people in the <40k range don't get taxed out of their ass for it next year.
Well, there's a difference between doing it once, and doing it every month in perpetuity.
YANG GANG
Wonder if the media regrets not letting him speak now?
I was as big a Yang supporter as anyone. We can blame the media if we want, but he never really figured out how to grab the spotlight and get his message across in the debates. The debates are a shitshow, but if you get into politics you have to learn how to play the game at least a little bit
To go from stumping for Trump, to this is pretty telling. You were all about Trump for a couple years at least. When the virus started blowing up you were one of the loudest talking about it being blown out of all proportion. Now look at you.
You're entirely too impressionable, and rely far too much on what you get from social media.
He's a stupid kid. He's just louder and more self righteous than most.
Eh. He's got to be like 23 years old now. Hardly a "kid" by any stretch. His cortex is almost fully formed. He is what he is at this stage.
He needs to understand that his judgement absolutely sucks, and keep his opinions to himself.
His cortex seems, so far, unable to process irony. He talks massive shit about things that perfectly describe himself over and over and over. It's actually very funny.
People change immensely from the ages 23-30, even more so if they start a family. Don't say stupid things just because you hate WD.
It is pretty crazy how a few weeks ago everyone said Yang was nuts. Now they want his policies. I admit I didn’t think it was feasible. Funny how quickly things change.
I think this would be a really good idea - if strings were attached. That card should ONLY be accepted at grocery stores, pharmacy/doctors offices, and rent/mortgage. Maybe for gas, but not the associated C-stores. Lock them to essential spending, sort of like food stamps, so that we - as a society - get the most bang for the money we (tax payers) will be spending to fund this stuff.
As it stands, I don't qualify for a welfare check, and I don't want to see idiots spending this free cash on crap purchases (lumber for that new shed, cigarettes, a new big screen TV, etc...). That's not what this is meant for.
But it is exactly what most people will use it for...
I thought the whole point was to keep the economy going? Are lumber, cigarettes, and a big screen TV not keeping the economy going? You think someone who needs food is going to spend that money on a big screen instead? Or do you just think poor people are poor because of some moral failing?
Quit the stretch from my post, here. The purpose behind a debit card that gets reloaded monthly is, essentially, help for the unemployed - not “poor people” (which is your term, not mine). And yes, I believe that the unemployed should get help, and that it should be targeted towards ‘life essentials’ - which do not include cigarettes and big screen TVs.
But you go ahead and show everyone your outrage because you can’t understand a comment.
And yes, the world is littered with people who would choose a big screen over meals...
Except the point of the check is to buy those consumer goods. There is a separate part of the stimulus to make sure unemployment stays flowing so that you can purchase the essentials. The reason they are sending out the direct payments is to make sure we continue to buy cars, tvs, couches, etc so that those companies can continue to exist and the supply chains don't all fail
Study after study has shown that limits on where cash assistance is spent do more harm than good. People will spend it where it needs to be spent. Just because someone is unemployed doesn't mean they're irresponsible and need to be babysat. Funny how certain people are all about personal liberty until, well...

I’ve read that this will be based on 2018 not 2019 earnings. Anyone see this and know why?
March 25th, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
My guess would be because everyone has taxes filed on record for 2018. Just my guess.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:36 AM ^
That’s what I was thinking as well. Thank you!
March 25th, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
Hard to base it on 2019 earnings when the tax deadline isn’t for a few months.
